PSO online on the Wii?

Not that it's going to matter for too much longer, but I was wondering if anyone has tried playing PSO Online using their Wii? I'm pretty sure that the WiFi would not function because all of the Wii's non-gamecube necessary parts stop operating when in Gamecube mode. This would require some type of broadband hookup or something right?

Has anyone tried this at all, and if so, what were the results?
