The State of PSOW

It was July of 2002 when I started posting here and all was pretty good. Most of the users were friendly and intelligent and the mods were doing a great job. Then Ambrai came along and screwed everything up and established an odd sort of dictatorship here.

Ambrai is long since gone and PSOW has recovered some,but we still aren't back to where we were. Here are some things that vex me:

1. When people break rule, they are PERMENATELY banned on the first offense and without warning. Agent_Reav and Wayne Stix were banned permenately just for breaking rules ONCE.

SOLUTION: Give someone a warning and tell them not to do it again. If they still do it then you can ban them.

2. PG-13 rated. What's with the sudden attitude of "we have to be PG-13 rated". Most of the people here are atleast 11 and by then have already started to look at porn.

SOLUTION: If people want to post porn here let them, but they have to give a warning before the link name. If a kid is still dumb enought to click on it then that's their problem.

Well I'll edit this when I get home from school. For now I have to go.

agent reav was warned more than once, it wasn't a first offense, and he broke the rules more than once. wayne stix was banned for linking to a website with codes which by the rules warrant for an instant ban and has always been that way for a really long time. i didn't set up the rules, they were always there.

and no we can't post porn, we're on gamespy servers. we also have to observe rules. we don't need parents suing us or emailing us angrily.

by the way, the mods before ambrai and after ambrai is the same, with the addition of new mods.

now this state of psow thing, is getting to be a fad, like you said in your poll!

If someone doesn't read the rules or "forgets" they have cheat codes in a link they're posting, that's their fault, not ours.

YOU CANNOT HAVE PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES ON A GAMESPY SERVER. That has been said more than once. You want porn, go somewhere else. Just because it's readily available on the internet DOES NOT MEAN we're going to allow it here. That's not even logical or legal.

This site is supposed to be a GAME site. People here are supposed to ENJOY themselves. But for some reason people take this site SO seriously that they get pissed off about the littlest things and go on a rant about all the things they think are wrong here.

EVERYONE, PLEASE, just relax, and try to enjoy the site here. If you have some problem with something, please, feel free to make your own forum with as much content as us, and make it as perfect as you want us to be. OR contact us personally with your issues, maybe we can clear something up for you!

Yes, you can get banned on a first offense for breaking certain rules. Because you don't know the rules, that doesn't mean you will be let off. By posting here, you automatically agree to follow the rules and take any consequences that come from breaking those rules.

Even though the law states a person has to be eighteen years old or up to look at porn, we should break the law? Who wants to buy some crack and smack while we're at it? I can cook some in my garage. With the money we make from drug trafficking, we can switch to our own server, right? Perfect plan, I must say. Honestly, though, people can break laws some place other than PSOW.

I just think Ness doesn't realize that we have donated hosting here at gamespy, breaking a policy of being a gamespy hosted site warrants instant removal. So no ness, no porn and it isn't for the reasons you'd like to believe. And actually we are having more traffic in the last 2 weeks then the site has ever in its history, so I have to differ with your statement about we are not back to where we were, your opinion is noted and of course your redundant topic.

If you only started posting here in July, then you really didn't notice what was going on at the forums while you just scanned them for the amount of time you were a memeber (Sep. '01 by your info). Or maybe you're making threads/post that bring out sides of the mods/admins you don't like.

I've been, what I feel, is an average poster, and I have been banned once for starting a fight with a mod, then later I was given my posting privlages back (and I'm greatful for that, btw), but I've come to understand with the rules of the MB and how the mods/admins work.

I know me posting to this thread looks like I'm targetting you once again, but in all honesty you post and say somethings that bring some negitive attention to yourself and the more you do the more mods/admins are gonna watch you. Trust me, I've been there. So maybe next time someone, like me, target's you for posting something that brings you negitive attention, then maybe you should try to post something a bit different, or delete the thread and make a new one, then try to re-word what your point is so it doesn't seem like you're trying to give people the wrong idea about you.

Also, what's up with you talking about Ambri? Didn't you go and make a thread based upon one he made while he was here? That makes you seem... I dunno the word, but I found it funny that you mimic'ed him before and are now talking bad about him (even tho I'm gonna have to agree with what you said up above).

I'm sorry Neko, but that wasn't my point. I just thought the mods were taking to many of our rights away that's all. I do not like spamming or spammers. I love PSOW and I spend most of my time here and when it does get boring, I goto PSOtakus. I also go there instead of spamming, which is what most bored people do.

The PSO-World community has become more about quantity than quality. And the true golden age of this site was way back when v1 for the DC was released.

The thing is Ness, that websites, like everything, go through up and down cycles, and all you can really do is sit down, shut up, and enjoy the ride.
