In case anyone with a 360 is behind on the news, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is being released on the Xbox Live Arcade on Wednesday (the 21st), and from what I've heard, it's going to be a measly 800MSP to purchase ($10; 80MSP = $1USD).

Which is a great deal, except that you can only purchase MSP in increments of 500, 1000, 2000, or 5000... But Ikaruga is coming to the arcade somewhere down the line, as well (as seen on PartnerNet), so some excess pointage may not be bad... If you're planning on picking up other games.

The achievements list (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/home/showachievements.php?type=Arcade&gameID=192) is great, too. It ranges from loltastically easy things, like killing 10 enemies in a row with a weapon or with Magic, without getting hit... To things like beating the fight of the intro stage without taking a hit (which is pretty impressive, in itself).

I was going to download this until it was revealed that Castlevania for PSP will have a slightly updated port of SotN. Now I just don't care about it being on Live Arcade.

I want both, but I own neither 360 nor PSP, hmmmmm. Good thing I'm being made full-time at my job. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

When I get an Xbox 360, this will be one of the games I will download.

Finally.

In the time I was waiting for this I ended up with the Saturn version and another 100 MSpoints that just sit in wait. Picked up a 1600 point card for $15 when I bought PSU within the 2nd week of its release.

Also the latest XBLA game in TMNT just feels wrong. Controls are different, sound too.

Easy Solution... buy two 1600 point cards. Buy the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion, and spend the remaining points on SotN.

SotN is one of my favorite games of all time. I was devastated when my brother stole my copy as well as Breath of Fire III, and the Legend of Dragoon to sell for cocaine money (100% serious here).

My 13th play through is LONG overdue.

I played the heck out of that game, honestly. I had two memory cards full of its saves. Looks like it's time to clog my X360 HDD, as well!...

Agreed. I'd rather have a shiny new copy of SotN than a line of coke.

Well, it's not like a super-long game or anything.

Much like the Metroid games, you can probably beat it in just a few hours, if you do everything exactly and don't waste time.

I just bought it today, played it for a few hours, I can't see the difference between the classic and enhanced graphics, however XD

It really stands out, when you're on a monitor or other HD setup.

Basically, "original" retains the original pixels as sharp squares. "Enhanced" smears the edges with those 'pixels' near it. It's a rather cheap and ... sometimes ugly filter, that Digital Eclipse uses in all their Arcade releases.
