To fill in those people that dont know what the so-called "Master classes" are, heres a quick re-cap.

-Master classes will SUPPOSEDLY be unlocked before the end of this year. It is SURMISED that these are all encompassing super classes that allow you to basically equip any and every weapon type in game among other things.

(*NOTE, this is only one of many THEORIES on them. There are others, I just posted one.)

So basically, do you guys think these things exist?

I for one, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THEORY. Why? Good question. For one, PSUpedia states that we get lvl 20 job classes:

http://www.psupedia.info/index.php?title=Types

Now obviously you dont have to believe that, although it IS a good source. But if that were the case I fail to see why we would get "Master Classes" in addition to lvl 20 jobs.

Secondly, why the hell would they do this? The idea behind master classes is an all encompassing class that can do anything and everything.

Yah, we could do that, it was called story mode. THEY DID IT BECAUSE IT WAS SINGLE PLAYER.

Doing something like that in online is basically like saying, HAI GUIZ, NO NEED 2 PARTY NEMORE, U CAN SOLO MISSIONS NAOW LOL.

Its like taking the party out of "party". Noone has a job to do, everyone just does whatever outputs the most damage, which basically means that one class (Im geussing CAST or BEAST) will end up being the best because melee will own all, or Newms will be the best because TECHS own all.

Cuz after all, why play the way you should when you can play the character with the best DPS available?

Im sorry if im not making sense, but this just seems like a dumb idea invented by someone that desperatlely wanted there HUmar back.

There are screen shots of a weapon grind where every melee weapon is list as "S"

This would point to the possiblity of some kind of expert / master class

I agree that it would be sort of pointless.

Something they could do is allow a master class, but only allow you to party with NPCs and your PM, or only allow you to use the character for Story Mode missions or something. They could allow some mega huge restriction on the master class to maintain the balance.

There is a pic as T2 has stated but it could been taken from an early alpha version of the expansion. There could be better 'master' type versions of the 3 basic types, not a true 'master' type that could equip everything up to s rank.

So I can turn any weapon of mine into an S rank?

Doesn't that defete the whole purpose of having an expensive rare? o.o

No. They meant that those classes can use pretty much any weapon at any grade even at S. Weren't those screens of the offline mode where you start as a special class corresponding to hunter/ranger/force and was already granted the use of S ranks in your stats.

I meant. Like offline mode where as Ethan, the hunter/ranger/force classes each had already been granted the ability to use all S rank weapons for that class plus some A rank ones which you can use with a class like: hunter could use all S rank melee weapons and had use of A pistols and wands.

Wow, the urban legends fly high here.

NONE OF THIS IS SUBSTANTIATED.

Its like me saying, LUTZ IS A NPC IN AoI! I have no proof, just conjecture.

Like I said in my OP, i personally belive this master class stuff to be BS.

It's a bit small but you can see the progression from hunter to figunner to this "master class"

Also note it is not the story mission hunter class, since other than melee weapons this "master class" can only use pistols at A.

To Niered's earlier point, this would actually be a very limiting class as it will not be able to use range or force weapons, this would be a more specialist class than anything else. Also addressing PSU Pedia's suggestion of level 20 advance classes, it is just the speculation of who ever added that entry and should be taken at that.

Again at this early point in game development I am sure that most of what is to come is still in flux. However I for one believe that ADDITIONAL classes will come with the expansion, why else would we need so many MPs from S2 runs. Whether these ADDITIONAL classes will be "Master" or not I don't know, and won't know until the beta begins.

even if that picture were true, I wouldn't do it because I love my twin handguns, crossbow, and mechgun as a fighgunner. That looks more like a super fortefighter than anything to do with fighgunner... plus I could easily make that picture too

We need so many MP so that we can get these expert classes to level 20 in the future, and so you can play multiple classes if you'd like to.

I couldn't really care less http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif I'd be very much excited by a level 20 fortegunner, but anything else is unimportant to me as I like my guns & thats where I'm staying http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Doesn't matter since at the rate we're going we'll only have rank 10, maybe 11 S rank weapons by the end of the year. Unless there's some hugely steep entrace requirement I'd also wager that there'd be some reason to not use them (no PP recharge bonus, no PA efficiency, no traps, etc)

Unless they're just a fancy third-tier that you get from capping forte classes. Well, whatever.

I believe we established the image in question to be a beta/prototype Fortefighter. It was likely adjusted before it was actually released, though.

I don't know why you guys are so against this ever happening, maybe there will be SS weapons, SSS weapons, etc.

Maybe this was some sort of fighter/transer that could use all melee weapons but "only" S (assuming there will be higher than S)

Also, maybe it's just more specialized, IE, maybe this "master fotrefighter" class has extreme ATP, HP, DP, but terrible ATA, MST, EVA

I don't see why this couldn't happen, and i don't understand why someone has to be so against it. I'm sure sega won't come out with a class that can use all the highest rank weapons and get a stat boost in everything; that part is not even worth entering an argument about.

So your ASKING sega to artificially make the game feel bigger by adding more classes of weapons so that you need to add more "Master classes" instead of taking a good system they already have and just expanding it?

Golto

A2K appears to be correct. It does look like the Japanese for Fortefighter in the 3rd pic. Can't be 100% sure since it is a jpeg and rather small. So maybe the master types thing in the expansion is false.

From what I understand, there won't be any master classes until the expansion, if ever. As well, in the expansion, the classes will be modified to incorperate the new weapons, and the weapons who's star level exceeds 12. (They will go to 15).

The picture of the supposed "master class" is from a dev's blog and was posted back when the game first came out. It's likely not to exist anymore and would likely be considered broken anyways.

As for the SS rank weapons, that seems very feasable since they are gonna release weapons up to 15* in the expansion and there's proof of 13*~15* ores and the boards to upgrade lower ores to them.

IMHO, if they release any sort of master class(es) they'll just be extended versions of the expert classes we have now. Not only for the above mentioned possibility but also to aid in further difficulty added to the game. Granted they could just make all of the "SS rank" weapons to be S rank and just expand upon the class type levels, which would likely be easier.

Actually i disagree with your post i think master classes DO exist i recently saw a japanese screenshot of a class bar which could use every melee weapon upto S rank but nothing else, before anyone says it could of been a screenie from offline the screenshot did not show the use of wands for what i assume was the hunter master class i know most of you will dismiss this because i have no evidence whatsoever but i honestly dont care i know what i saw, in fact the screenshot was posted here on these forums so if whoever posted it would hopefully post the link to it again.

100% pure unadulterated bullshit.

Umberger
Mar 20, 2007, 05:45 PM
If they add master classes, they should just get S2 versions of their S weapons, but keep the A weapons at A (I don't care what you say, no master Force class needs S rank spears, sabers, etc). Either that, or just make them like advanced classes level 11-20...as in higher %s on their stats.

I don't see why everyone's against a higher class level. After all, nobody complained when hunter got upgraded to fortefighter and the like.

And as for getting S2 weapons and not upgrading our A weapons, please no. I don't want to run around and have my only source of ranged damage not only be a hangun, but one that's six rarity levels lower than my melee weapons.

Huh. If they are just like...advanced classes where all previous A rank weps were brought to S...and the percents were like 2% higher at every level...I think it would be fair...I still think they dont exist though http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
