I'm reading the PSUPedia grinding charts, and I recall having heard that higher-level grinders tend to have a better chance of success but provide a smaller bonus. The PSUPedia charts, referring to "Grind Level" (particularly in the more detailed charts) appear to be saying that the gain is not dependent at all upon the level of the grinder used, only the weapon and the total level to which it is ground.
Just double-checking to make sure that higher-level grinders don't actually provide a lesser stat bonus.
