does the challenge mode work the same offline as the dc ver

Um... I think you meant DC online.

Anyway, everything the same... well, a couple things are different, for example, the traps act like normal (non-challenge mode) traps. Another thing I noticed is that the enemy placement isn't the same everytime. Say someone on the team died and you do the challenge again - Same players, same id, etc. Odds are that the enemy placement will be different. Mostly minor stuff, but it is different nonetheless.
