alright... this will prolly be complicated but I will try to explain it best as I can <.<;;

so... long ago I had bought the nintendo WiFi Adapter for PC so I could play DS games, but alas I got a semi-common error that prevented it from workign on that computer. so now I had gotten a new one and figured it would work on this computer, well I was half right, I don't get the same problem as before... I get a new one :<

when I go to install the Adapter stuff, it goes through the installation but stops at "Setting up internet connection sharing" with the error "You are not connected to the internet"

yeah... as I seen this I started talkign on MSN/IRC about it... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif but yeah, I disabled AVG and tried again, disabled windows firewall and tried again haven't tried disablign both though... and I still get the error

now one thing I thought of that may cause this is the fact my computer apparently has no network connection... >.>; if you go to control panel>network connections you should see an icon that is the status of your internet connection... but me? nope. never had one, but have always been able to connect to the internet

I've went through the set up new connection wizard but nothign there seems to work. I thought I remembered somethign about being able to put the network connection info from one computer onto a second with a flash drive... I haven't been able to figure out how on this computer, but I figured I'd try takign a look at the other computer here since I know it has the icon in the connections part

so really this is a three part help me topic
1) would the fact I have no icon for any type of network connection cause this error with the installation?
2) Help me get the icon there so it will work?
3) Make my Nintendo Wifi Adapter work http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif *looks for violetskye with big teary eyes*

~Edit~
found out something else today, when trying to figure out more I get another little error thing
"The wizard cannot find your network hardware.

Beforse using this wizard, you must first install and configure your network cards, modems, cables, and device drivers"

hmm... no network hardware... does that fuck everything up for me? <.<;;

Desktop or laptop?
Is the pc connected via ethernet, USB or wireless?
Do you have any icons at all in Network Connections?
When you run ipconfig, which adapter does it show receiving an IP address?

Desktop
Ethernet ( I think... I plug the same cord that goes into the back of my 360 into the back of my PC >.> )
No Icons (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Eclair/networkconnections.jpg)

Start>Run>CMD, then type in ipconfig http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

also make sure Plug and Play is running under Services.

ahh... silly me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

for the adapter, it's a long list of numbers with some letters <<
"111520E7-276E-4397-A7C3-21CBE40A573F"

then it shows connection specific DNS suffix, IP, subnet mask then defalt gateway

for plug and play, would that have been in that window, or where is services? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

For Services go to START>RUN then type in SERVCIES.MSC It should be listed alphabetically. Make sure it is set to STARTED and AUTOMATIC. Also I found a few good M$ articles that may help as well:

okay... everythign in second link is done... nothign seemed to really change

for the first link it all works up untill 7, ocne I type in sfc /purgecache I only get a small line saying "windows file protection made the requested change" nothign that I can see get file checker...

8 I have no clue what registry editor is XD
9 was already done, the settings were alreay like they said to change it to

now... 11... >_>;

11. Make sure that there are no nonpresent, ghosted, or hidden network adapters in your computer. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269155/ Error message when you try to set an IP address on a network adapter

okay so I clickd the link and tried that page... to show hidden network adapters?

well it went form the 2 ones there... to listing alot >_> the two that are normally there is "1394 net adapter #5" and "NVIDIA nForce networking controller" but when I expand it, ther is alot more, alot of the say that they are not conneted to computer including one that says "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast ethernet NIC" which is similer to the one that the otehr computer has for it's adapter <.<

~Edit~
well ain't that lovely, I check again and now it's not there <_>

To edit the registry you go to Start>Run>regedit (make sure you back it up first, and only make changes if you are confortable doing so.)

The one you want from the list is the Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast ethernet NIC. That refers to the actual physical NIC card.

So, let me get this straight, it listed your network adapters temporarily but now it's back to showing nothing in Network Adapters?

okay first time I did it, I did the thign to see all of them, I do it again, I see the otehr blanked out ones, but this time I no longer see the realtek no longer appears D:

so... do I like not have a network card or something? <_<

I'll have to do a little research on that. Worse case scenario, you could try a dedicated NIC card and see if that works.

Unless you need gigabit LAN, this should work great: TRENDnet TE100-PCIWN 10/20/100/200Mbps (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156107) - $5.99 + free shipping http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

okay... I got network card and I now have an Icon and it works fine!

btu now I still have problems with the nintenddo WiFi tool ;-;

it gets past the error saying there is no internet connection... but now I get an error near the end tellign me to plug the WiFi tool into the USB port... which it is ._.

okay I read up else where and I got it fixed and installed, but new problem, when I start it up, all I get is a little grey circle in my system tray which does nothing, it all stops there ._.

I'm slowly getting it working!
