This is really pissing me off right now, WMP won't frickin' recognize my MP, it worked fine a few days ago, so I try my brother's it doesn't work either, so I go to reinstall WMP, and I get this crap! This isn't the first time it's failed to authenticate its own software either! When I tried to upgrade my DirectX, the website couldn't authenticate my OS! It's perfectly legit, it came on the damn PC when I got it! Also, it says to contact the system administrator, that's my #$%@#$ account! >_<

I'm mostly angry because I can't change the songs on my MP now. With any luck I should be able to fix it.

Hmm. That's strange. What's even stranger is that you're installing Windows Media Player 10? Things have moved to WMP11 for a while now, no problems with that version here.

Check your firewall settings. I don't know of any other reason it would not work besides a bad internet connection, which it looks like is not your problem.

My computer can't run 11 because I don't have the service pack 2 or some odd thing, and it downloaded fine, I was trying to re-install to remedy the problem, but to no avail, what's worse is that I tried formatting my MP before trying this because I thought that was the problem, so now all my songs are gone and I can't add more.

What really makin' me mad is that I hooked up my bro's digicam and it wants to synch music to that, but not my MP, go figure. :/

Is your copy of windows a legit copy? That could be a problem. if it isn't you'll have to use some "other" sites to download this stuff.

Do you absolutely need WMP? Otherwise, I'd recommend going with another media player. But if this is symptomatic of a more general problem, then http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Use RealPlayer, or another media app that came with your computer. Usually another other than WMP.

This has happened to me, but I don't know what caused it to go away http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif.

The thing is that my MP uses .wma files, does realplayer use them as well?

Extensions aren't exclusive to media players. They will play .wav, .avi, etc. I know this cause I have one of MJ's songs "Unbreakable" which is in .wma and I play it on this media app called "MUSIC MATCH Jukebox".

I have an ass of media players ~_~

I wasn't sure if it was an extension only for WMP or not, but seeing as though it isn't, II guess I'll have to find a new one to use.

If all else fails, download Winamp(free version). It can't play videos as it's just designed to play music only.

Winamp is grrrreat. I have 2.95, and I can play videos, listen to .wma and .wav files, etc. Yeah, it does quite a bit more than you'd expect.
