Offline Easter Eggs

If you look at some of the items in the persons guide, it says something about easter eggs offline, and resetting, I don't know what it means, can someone clarify?

Random item from an Easter Egg. Open offline to manual reset until you get the right item. THat is exactly how it is worded.

1) Get an Easter Egg or other holiday only item online.
2) Go into offline mode (I don't think this works for BB).
3) Open the present. If it is not what you want, turn the system off without saving.
4) Repeat until you get the desired item, then quit and save the game.
