Ah yes, good ol' PSOW. Always there when you need someone to falme the hell outta you.
It seems more and more flame wars are going on. And it seems there is nothing happening other than a simple lock. I say there should be harsher rules for ctarting flame wars.
I remember seeing A2K...i think yesterday give a guy a warning just for flame-baiting a topic, wheras actual flames seem to just get warnings. I dont like creating topics outside of FKL now because it seems they are easily flamed. Hell...take it from a guy who does flame, knows he is flaming, and yet nothing happens because of it.
Im just saying...ya know, maybe you mods are doing something about it, just not publicly, lie in a pm. But we gotta really stop the hate, maybe then we would see less PS2/PC vs Xbox arguements, and a helluva less locked topics in rants

I can personally attest to being suspended for flaming.

There are penalties.

Edit: Flame baiting is against the forum rules, just like flaming, thus incurring the same penalty.

Just locking topics won't change anything, we need to have actual agreement between all the parties involved, something that will stop flame wars from starting in the first place, but that's not likely to happen, as pessimistic as that sounds.

Precisly what i was thinking. Locking a topic doesnt stop......certain people from bitching about the arguement and locking 2 other threads because of it.
Lock the topic=/=stopping the hatred

Should just move them to FKL, most people are too afraid to keep arguing there.

eh...well back then banning was an everyday thing, cause the flames were a lot worse. ALOT WORSE.

The flaming you think is so bad, is really petty flaming compared to what those now banned users could come up with ~_~.

I agree with the move to FKL idea.

When a topic is locked, someone is usually going to receive a warning. For a wide variety of reasons, warnings are usually not made public. If a person receives one, they will be notified via Private Message. Depending on the number of warnings the person has received, a suitable punishment will be chosen.

If you see a topic that is going off-track, do not reply to it. Instead, send a private message to a moderator. Responding in a negative way will only help to derail the topic further. Also, do not quote the forum rules to other forum users. That is usually considered to be an off-topic post (also a rules violation). Let the moderator deal with the flamers.

ryna i gotta say that is not true... I have been "warned" twice and a semi-warning and all have been in the forums. I also should mention that every time i was "warned" someone else should have also been warned in the same topic.

While i agree with what you are saying and maybe that happens with everyone else... it doesn't happen with me ^.^ maybe i jsut be special http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Please note that I said "usually".

The staff can probably find something that can at least +1 or +2 someone if they looked enough; but consider the large mass of people there are in here.

Its like the police. They can catch one criminal, but might miss on two or three others. For example; keeping in mind Racial profiling is not included into these figures.

If something is SO bad, SO un-just that they just have to be warned for it; why not tell someone in Staff instead of saying, well they did blablabla over the forums.

PM notes > forum notes.
