View Full Version : PSO+ Does Not Mean PSU

I am a very easy going and receptive guy. I will listen to what people have to say and
respond with my own opinion, no matter how one sided it is. So please, hear my tale and
do not be offended if you are one of these kind of people.

For those who know me, I play PSO on the Gamecube. Never had a chance to go online
nor had a chance to recieve special items from the online side of the game. But I can live
with this. I have no problem knowing I have no chance to go do that sort of thing.

Anywho, I recently came across the idea of borrowing PSO+ from one of my brother’s
friends. For sake of identity, I’ll refer to him as “J”. J is a diehard PSU fan. He rants
about it all the time to Toaster_Boy and never really shuts up. I can deal with this. He
prefers PSU more than PSO. Again, fine with me.

So one day I go up to him and ask if he is willing to let me purchase from him his copy of
PSO+, as I am stuck with only the original GC version. He was unwilling to do this, but
he never really told me. He only stalled and gave “Umms” and “Uhhhs”. So, having been
foiled in that department, I thought, “Well, maybe he won’t let me buy the game from
him, but what if I could borrow it for a short time and return it in about a week?”

So I ask him if I could borrow the game. His response:
“You should play PSU! It is so much better!”
I appreciate his opinion, but Toaster_Boy already has the game and I, personally, do not
like the game. So I tell him this. His response:
“Then you should get online! It is better online!”
Maybe he didn’t hear me right, but I said “BORROW PSO +”, not “GO ONLINE ON
PSU”. I can’t even go online for PSU as we do not have the means, money, nor want to
do so.

I asked him about three times over the course of two months, but his response was always
the same. Why he substituted my real intent with something I am not that interested in,
I’ll never know. School is over, graduation is coming, and I’ll never see him again. But it
just pisses me off when someone tries to force their likes upon me and demote the things
I actually like. So, there you have it. Responses? And please, keep it clean/nice.

You should play PSU online! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif jk jk. I have a friend who hates the whole Phantasy Star series and if I ever mention it to someone who ask me what are my favorite games he would tell them how much PSO and PSU suck. It makes me sad http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif . How well do you know your friend's brother? It could one of the reasons why he didn't let you borrow it. If you look hard enough I think you can find PSO+ for like 20-30 dollars.

I may perfer PSU to PSO but if I have a friend who wants to borrow my PSO+ copy for awhile I'd let him/her.

If you want to play online you can try and find a free server. Hunting with two heads is better than one lol.

My sister plays with me from time to time with her HUnewarl. 'Cept shes mean and calls me "heal bitch" since I have to use Resta on her since she says using monomate is too expensive otherwise she is a great help.

My cousins when he comes up plays alot too we become tech casting HUmars http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My friend who moved recently http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif used to play with my sister and I with his RAmar. My sister(being the elitist that she is) picks on his character cause his damage is low.

Good times.....good times.

Well, I doubt that will be possible. As I said, the school year is over and I'll most likely never see him again. Even if I did see him again, I don't think I'd let him borrow one of my games as he keeps VERY poor care of his OWN games, according to my brother. I fear for my games.

Maybe he just wants you to get online so that he can play with you... or so you experience something new? tbh, I would never force anything on anyone that they didnt want to do. However, I would encourage ppl to try to get online because, hey, that's how pso and psu are meant to be played really.

Oh, and p.s. I know what your bro means about fearing for your games... I'm like that too. I only lend them to friends I know will take care of them.

Well, as I said, I do not possess the means nor the want to play PSU online. I am sure it would be fun, but I just don't prefer PSU. In any case, my parents do not want Toaster Boy or I to go online, as they will have to foot the bill. I don't have a job (going to get one) so I don't have the money for it. I don't even have the equipment for the connection.
Sorry, but them's the breaks.
Besides, "J" is one of those guys who brags about his accomplishments and sizes them up to yours. One of those guys who think they're bad ass, and you really want him to shut up. I don't like playing with guys like that.

I bet he wanted you to join him or wanted you to ditch PSO+ for PSU.

The real reason is unknown...

AlexCraig
May 29, 2007, 05:16 PM
Pretty much. The fact that he didn't give me a straight answer is part of what gnaws at me. The least he could do would be to tell me why not PSO+. I mean, if I wanted to play PSU online, I'd get the required things and do so. But I don't.

PSO+ wasn't that much better than the original. It only added towers to offline mode and it removed the shop dupe glitch. Yay.

AlexCraig

Partly, it is because of that that I want it. I was never able to get online, and now I most likely never will. So, i figured that with the extra missions on + I can beat those missions, get rare items unobtainable before, and feel more fulfilled. But thanks to J, I'll have to look for somewhere online to buy it.

Well, I don't really want to kill him. I do want to bash his ego and take him down a notch. Stop him from being such a braggard.

Rl reasons, or you are stuck because the sega servers is down?

It's not over, but you'll have to search hard and it can't be talked about here.

AlexCraig

Half and half. I wanted to do it the legit way. But my options are limited. Besides, my main reason for getting PSO+ was for the missions and rare items. Online would be nice, but only for certain other equipment. Again, another solution would be ill-advised to speak here about getting said items. I, personally, would like to stay legit.

Nab it? =P Joke, joke...
If you're that interested, try pick yourself a copy (but it's stupidly hard to find anyway, ad if you're from the UK, you'll need a freeloader and stuff....). I'm sure it's not all that expensive.
As for online rares, try an offline trade with someone who's got them (i.e. do some deep browsing in the Trade forum; there's bound to be some PSO stuff like, 30 pages down... =]). It worked wonders for me=]

AlexCraig
May 31, 2007, 10:52 AM
Well, been observing several on eBay. Waiting to acquire more money to get one. Since I am in the US, I don't think I need to worry about any extra equipment. As for trading, I don't know anyone inmy area who has said items. I may have to look in the trade forum, though I don't really know what good it'll do in my area.

AlexCraig: You know, if there's a Game Crazy in your area, you can special order it for $9.99 (plus a $6 special-order fee). You might want to check gamecrazy.com, or even see if you can get it through Hollywood Video (the parent company of Game Crazy).

Solo Tower, IMO, is by far the most challenge that you can have within the offline game. O_O

... I'm 19... he's 18... and my parents bear about as many weapons as I do... I don't really think that's an option. Sounds nice, but I don't think so.
