Are you IP smart ?

I need someone willing to walk me through on fixing my IP address on my PC. . I fixed it once before and got the new IP address and everything, but I had to reformat and lost all that info. . and due to my memory loss I'm completely SoL. . Not getting the speeds I should be getting. <.> Please help T_T Thank you.

your IP address should be assigned either by your ISP's modem/wireless gateway or by your router, unless you are running through a proxy and you need to input a specific IP address.
