For actual movies, PSO Ep1&2 intro movie for pure nostalgia. FFVIII intro for spiffiness, despite the fact that I fucking hated FFVIII and never did finish it. XD

I always liked the FFVI intro, though, with them walking towards the town. Predates movies, though.

I love when an intro movie is dramatic. (not like psu online drama lol) or when an intro movie for a game is just so amazing that your jaw drops and your eyes get teary, I saw a commercial the other day and I forgot what it's for but it amazed me, along with the Halo 3 trailers.

I'm gonna have to agree on FFVIII... Not my favorite FF, but that intro is really awesome. Kingdom Hearts was really good too...

I'm trying to think of something other than Square-Enix, but they are really the ones who largely popularized the flashy intro-movie with their huge production values and junk.

Also always liked the Armored Core intros, but i couldn't say which intro was my favorite.

Tales of the Abyss was pretty much any ol' anime intro, but holy shit the song Karma (by the band Bump of Chicken) kicked ass. They replaced the original vocal track with guitar though, so it rocks harder AND is a karaoke version! I printed out a lyric sheet so I could sing it, making it essentially a louder version of the original. I could care less about the video, that song made the intro. Bump of Chicken rocks.

Monster Hunter's intro looks like a nature video, if that game's world were real (and of course with humans on the top of the food chain!). It also has excellent music, even if it is the same as the regular ingame themes. (Those themes were great. Especially the theme at the end of the intro.) Monster Hunter Dos's intro is almost as good. Focuses more on the hunters this time, making it less nature video-ish.

Guitar Hero II's intro was short and sweet.

Armored Core intros are almost always a pleasure to look at, but AC3's is the one that truly stands out for me. That's probably because of the theme "Artificial Sky" being one of the best songs in the series. Silent Line comes in second, with Master of Arena in third. I guess not liking Nexus, Ninebreaker or Last Raven made me not see their intros enough to remember them at all. (Just that Nexus's theme sounded a bit anime-overblown.)

Katamari Damacy...WTF?

Resident Evil for the PS1. It's just so...BAD.

King's Field II (US). The narrator sounds WAY to serious and tries to make himself sound like a character when quoting him. He does a good job really, but he just sounds funny the whole time. But not nearly as much as in the ending...

The intro I posted was for Ys I & II Eternal, for PC. It has very old-school gameplay and is pretty short.

My favorite Ys game though, is Ys: Oath in Felghana. The intro isn't as good as Eternal's (http://synbios.net/games/ys/videos/Ys%20The%20Oath%20in%20Felghana%20Opening.wmv), but is still really nice. The game was awesome enough that I had written my first game review in a very, very long time (http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/ys-oath/index2.html) for it. I like games that do intros with the games own graphics, such as Beyond Good and Evil, and some other games I can't think of at the moment. Another game that I really like the intro to is Resident Evil 4 on the 'Cube, but I'm choosing this for the cutscenes in the game as they're done in the game's own graphics and they look simply stunning, with no slow down and the scenes where that army guy and the last boss transform into....whatever the heck they transform into, just made me sit there open mouthed at what I had seen. Best looking game I've seen in ages. I also love the intros for Freedom Fighters and Hitman 2.

I agree with the baiten Kaitos intro, I liked the Tales of Symphonia intro as well.

ZX was a pretty good game. It's a slightly different Megaman type of game yet it's also the same. It plays exactly like the Zero series though if you liked those games. It'll keep you busy for a bit with the different difficulties and wanting to unlock all the stuff though
