After waiting two hours for the download to finish, the damn istallation failed! D:<

I had to DL it from some off site, as Microsoft can't validate my OS, even though it's completely legit!

I just want the black windows theme, dammit!

I already posted this in FKL (not sure why, though), but I thought I'd post it here, as I'm more likely to actually get some info to solve the problem.

By any chance, did you format your hard drive or delete any of the partitions?

Why don't you just switch to a mac (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNC1UyVEOic&mode=related&search=)?

I have Service Pack 2, and I don't have a Black theme. Maybe mine is an older version of SP2?

The black theme is a seperate download, but requires SP2 to install.

If you're having problems, call them. You can have your windows generate a code that you can then give to the automated help line and they will confirm it and provide you with a new verification code. I had to do this when I built my new PC - since I just stuck my old harddrive into the new case. Too many hardware changes had been made and it wanted me to re-validate my copy of windows, but I had run out of verification codes after installing on the OS on multiple PC's in my home (and on friends and family PCs). Worked like a charm.

Don't do this with the downloaded copy of windows, of course, but your original copy.

By the way, why did the installation fail? Any specific error message or something? And why are you installing Windows over again? If you had a problem, wouldn't a Windows repair have done the trick?

Oh, and...

No, but I knew it was sarcasm. I responded to a joke, with a joke. Just been looking for an excuse to post it, and you just happened to say the magic words.

I've been using it for a long time, never had any troubles with it.

DOS? Screw that. If you want a good CLI, then Linux is the way to go.
