All my rare decos were stolen from my shop room a bit ago. last person to visit was named Greed ID# 38210. I've closed my shop and locked all my rooms due to this. I guess this is what I get for being nice in PSU.

Wasn't it already stated that if someone stole your deco's they don't appear in the visitor log....?

Because they technically 'steal' your ID to appear as the owner of the room so that they can take items?

Or do you mean that they took them DIRECTLY out of your shop? In which case it MIGHT be a friend with your password >.> Or someone else with your password http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif

Either way, start by changing your password.

They only have roughly a 30 second window of your account ID #.

They could have gone into your room and changed ID in there, which would leave a name.

OR

They could have changed into your ID before they entered your room so youd think it was the other person.

and thats why my main dosent have a shop...only the alt with newbie stuff does(since shops are open for everyones pleasure)I just give him the things my main wants to sell to him....

ofcourse theres a flaw in the system since they can still hit you and take the things you are selling(they gotta be mad fast tho), but things like your special decos and items for yourself are safe on your main...

also dont give your card to everyone you see, only to people you trust and make sure you lock your room(then again if you already gave your card to a hacker the lock wont do you any good...since they change their ID# to yours!)

as for the hack...it is a those boards we cant speak of...but when the user realise and reports the attack! they get banned (sega is finally using the logs)

well, you guys can add me to the list of victims by (since it was already mentioned) the character name mentioned in the first post. just happened about an hour ago too. I was talking with one of my friends in my main chars room (which has a shop) and, out of the corner of my eye, I saw my shop/room door open and that guy removing the last of 3 rare decos I had up, and left. I reported him to Sega, and now that I've seen this thread, I'm guessing Kaiaphas did as well. I'm just annoyed really... its stuff like this that adds hastle to what should otherwise be fun... Guess I'm starting to rant. sorry.

Hey, good thing I saw this.

Yes, this punk stole 3 decorations of mine as well (same name and number). He stole my Sonic decoration, my Parum Unity Decoration, and for some reason the Airboard decoration (LOL why?). Funny thing was I got a glimpse of him as I was returning to my room and caught him in the act. Anyways, he has been reported. I don't really expect to get the items back as it is just stuff but it would be nice if ST busts this wanker.

If everyone takes time to report him, its highly possible that everything will be returned to you.

Take the precaution of locking your room, not afking in your room, and storing your valuables else where.

There's nothing that can be done to stop this one guy? Lock my room and pray that he doesn't hit me? and he and I have to be in my room at the same time for him to steal? That sucks.

What if i'm synthing something and this jerk comes up says "GIVE 2 million or loose everything" and then what? Get Hacked? Or do I log out? He and I have to be both in the room - if i see him i record his ID Number, then quickly log out? Would that work?

i got your points...lol. He dont care if people were to spot him because his intentions were just stealing stuffs. He will just give away his stolen goods to his alternate account on another computer or distribute to his buddies. It is sad that he is doing this and scare the public at the same time because nobody wants their belonging to be taken away. That is why i hope that Sega take this matters immediately and stop the dude from doing anymore harm to us when we paid the game and it is their responsibilities to protect our stuffs from being stolen. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

The leader of TMG once sent me a mail during the time when hackers were around, telling me to lay off a certain member of PSOW I accused of hacking.

Obviously, this person didn't have my card.

Not sending your card to people won't help anything, trust me.

what can he do?
PM bomb, wipe things from stores, steal decos
if you're in your room, he can steal meseta

that's just what he can do to rooms. He can do plenty of other things, but Sega got pretty good at covering how you can affect other people

Here's the screenshots I promised:

http://kietrinia.gryvon.net/Misc/PSU-Greed1.jpg
I spotted a visitor, went to greet them as I always do whenever someone comes to visit my shop. I saw his name, and I remembered reading about him in this topic. I tried to get more screenshots, but he just ran in, stole my BR Burning Poster decoration, checked my common storage and then my PM (as you can see here) for anything rare and took off. Thankfully I keep most of my rare stuff in the PM storage of alts (who don't have shops) or on me.

http://kietrinia.gryvon.net/Misc/PSU-Greed2.jpg
He leaves a trail. If this ID matches the ID of the same Greed that has raided other shops, hopefully we can help Sega track this jerk down. >:(

He was FAST though! He was in and out in less than 10 seconds. I think the moment he saw me in my room, he moved fast. I'm just afraid of what might have happenned if he had more time. All my decorations might have been stolen and he may have had time to dismantle my shop. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I submitted a ticket to Sega support. Hopefully I can get my poster back. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

been this bad? This is nothing compared to what they use to be able to do.

It's not a script kiddie with a new CE or whatever. It's Ryuk and anyone who was here back before the server wipes of illegal items, probably remembers him. Seriously people, Sega didn't get rid of hackers, they just got rid of accounts. The difference was they stopped doing things publicly. There are a number of hackers still playing, and I'm sure Ryuk has been playing for awhile on another account. He just decided to make a throw away account for some reason, prolly because he's sick of half the people and their crap. It's understandable really, it's hardly a nice community. Just sucks when the nice ones get screwed over.

There IS one thing I recall but it's a glitch that RARELY happens but can and has on one occasion I know of for fact on the 360 servers. Is more than likely fixed by now as this happened last FEB.

Me and some of my friends were hanging out in one of my friends rooms when someone popped in and said wtf this isnt my room ran up to the mag to buy something anyway and ended up being able to access her mag and items freeley as if HE were the rooms occupant.

A buddy of mine had heard about this and said boot NOW!! she did I dont know HOW he knew but he did know she lost a relic edge and some kerseline.

My friend said that that can only happen while your on and IN your room it just glitches out when you go to your room you end up in someone elses room and acts like it's your room.

As I said im sure the problem has been fixed since i've only seen it ONCE so it's incredibly rare so no worries (were talking win the lotto rare btw)

Shesh, there'll always be people out to destroy and mess things up. Just throw those shops up and get on with your lives as soon as the fuss is over. If you feel its necessary, then hold on to the really rare stuff until you think you're sure it's "safe" again.

Being careful is good but constant worrying won't help you. Cheaters could strike again at any time, so if you're out to be 100% safe you should never put a shop up again. Drawback is that you'll not be able to sell your items, hence not making any profit at all. I'd rather take the risk :P Life is one huge gamble anyway.

This is why this community doesn't deserve what this hacker's done to it. There's so many nice people in this game that care about each other, and will come to the aid of total strangers. I'm just moved to tears by all this. Th-thank you all so much. I don't deserve it, but thank you! *alt+f2 bow*

Jackel, you're incorrect. As is the perception that you cannot see who does it. The person either A has to know you to obtain your ID or have seen you somewhere, or B, needs to get into your room to view your room ID.

When they do this, they BECOME the owner. Thusly, since the owner can take items from his or her shop, so can he.

Before ye all throw stones at me or something for knowing this much, I used to know someone who did it once and got banned for it.

Even if we had more GMs on, they'd be more likely to patrol the lobbies than they would be to bop into the logs for random rooms just in case something might be happening. That's almost futile and consequently why the support form is there in the first place.

I am not saying more GMs aren't necessary, as it would be nice is more were around even if only for the psychological effect. But I do not think that it would have solved this problem in particular. Well, unless they had an in-game support form. Which is good design by default to have (when are people most likely to report issues? WHEN THEY HAPPEN. Not when they're done and have to surf to your web site). Why it was not included is beyond me.

One thing that I think would have been ideal is to make the ID used client-side only for display. Anything that needs to be validated against that ID should retrieve it from the server again, whether or not it's available. There is no excuse to leave such an obvious hole client-side.

Why cant you all just be like the other hackers and not bother any fucking body. Hackers are cool when they ARNT being dickless faggots, bombing people's hard work and shit. Its not cool, you arnt proving anything but how much of a pussy you are, and if you really want to expose a game full of bugs (Which every game on this planet has an ABUNDANCE of, may I add) then go get a job doing it instead of wasting your useless life pissing everyone else off about it.

Their like terrorists. Fucking with people for no reason at all. (Either that or a royally asinine one.)

Im sure sega has the money to prosecute hackers. I sure as hell would put the damaging hackers in jail for ruining profits, they obviously have nothing else to do with their life.

I mean, i have absolutely no problem with the normal hackers, ive done it on plenty of other MMO's, but hacking just to fuck up everyone else is just a waste of time. It shows a personality trait that angers me about people. I dont usually tell people that they have no life since i play videogames alot too, but JESUS making an account just to fuck with people is a sign of some fucked up life situations.

Hackers don't bother me unless they hurt people or do unfair things in battle. Since we don't have PVP or any battles (Like Ep. 3 had.), I've learned that I don't really care if someone hacks S ranks, floats in a lobby, ect. If it doesn't harm me, why should I care?

A lot of people who don't hack are way worse than hackers.

I've heard of people scamming during trades, entering S/S2 parties, and dying on purpose.

The only thing that bothered me slightly was when Crea Doubles were duped. My Ice doubles had a lot more value before then.

Now they aren't worth a whole lot, but I hardly care anymore: They are useful to the point where I wouldn't trade them.

I've learned that I don't hate hackers in any way, really. I hate people who like to harm others gaming experience.

In fact, during the time when there were many people making unreleased S ranks, It helped our database immensely, and showed us what we could expect to be released in the future.

I don't think 'not caring' is the correct phrase. I think 'stop giving them attention' is a bit better. Of course you care about your room being hacked. That is why you report it and get pissed off about it. But making large numbers of topics about the hacker and hacking is exactly what they want you to do. They want to see the drama, the whining and the overreacting because A: It makes them feel big and B: It amuses them.

Boredom is the root of all evil. Unfortunately, people will use that boredom as an excuse to do all sorts of crap. However, people who use boredom as an excuse to infringe upon the rights of others or harm them physically/mentally deserve whatever they get coming to them.

except the things is, most hackers do nothing to affect other people. It's when other people start making the game unenjoyable with booting people for no good reason, ridiculous prices, making fun of other players etc, that these hackers decided to screw with people. Still, the mindset most people seem to have is messed up. Instead of "If we stop giving hackers attention then maybe they'll leave us alone," I should be reading "If Sonic Team doesn't do something to secure the game from these hackers, I won't be reactivating my account." Remember, it's Sonic Team's responsibility to stop hacking, not ours. Besides, reading threads like this is sort of a guilty pleasure.

Nobody denied that it is Sonic Team's responsibility to stop this crap. But there is absolutely nothing we can do to help the matter along but report the incidents as they come. And quit, I suppose. This is my goal. (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=147188&forum=20&start=220&240#236) Sonic Team taking care of business like they should have done months ago.

You're paying to play this game. You deserve a better experience, you should expect a better experience, you should DEMAND a better experience, or you take your money elsewhere. I was genuinely curious as to why some people don't feel that it's necessary to demand better security in their game, choosing instead to ignore hackers in the hopes that they'll just fade away.

Oh yeah, you.

Your arguement means a shitload of nothingness. Every game on this PLANET is subjectable to hacking, and there is no Online game out now that does not have hackers. World of Warcraft included.

That said, there is absolutely no way Sonic Team can act on patching this security hole within a day or two of notice. Your not wanting Hack Protection, your wanting the fucking government to act on Hack-patrol for you.

Sega is a Buisness, they arnt stupid, they are going to fix the problem. Suprisingly they already are getting a fix for it now. You saying "OMFG THIS GUY HACKED ME ITS NOT HIS FAULT ITS SEGA'S" just because they run the game is just stupid. Is it america's fault Katrina hit New Orleans? Is it the Airline's fault for those two planes raping the Twin Towers?

You could say yes, but then again you can't. Security exists because there is always something trying to comprimise it. Let's say the Twin Towers had some kind of Plasma sheild to ward off the Airplanes. Would you all blame the fucking security if someone blew it up with a underground missile or something? Would you complain about us not having "Subterraninan Security"?

Dont blame Sonic Team for teenage virgins with too much time on their hands. We're you put in this position you would be able to handle it no differently, if not worse. Sure, Sega has their horrible faults, they DO try.

That said, your paying to "play their game". You are paying for a certian experience, but when some faggot comes up and destroys your experience, they ARE required to deliver for it. Im not saying they arnt ENTIRELY responsible for the hack attacks, im saying your anger directed at them instead of the people entirely resposible is mis-directed anger. The problems wouldnt exist if people diddnt cause them.

And @ whoever was talking about Sonic-Team Listining to us for AoI, they were only listening to the Japanese players. :

The difference here is the way Sega generally handles the problem. At least with 9-11 security immediately went up and the government showed concern (I'm sure that's more of an opinion than anything, but anyway...).

When PSU is hacked, what does Sega, and even the community do? Nothing. Yes, they're fixing it with a patch (that won't be implemented until Thursday? I don't quite get that...), I'll grant them that. But like most other times, Sega says nothing to the public, and according to most of the comments, they don't even try to return the lost items. The community doesn't even care anymore - "Oh yeah, ANOTHER hacker, big deal, just go back to leveling and get over it." I don't fault the community for their attitude, but it's just depressing when players are numb to 'injustice' because the people in charge don't seem to care. On a real life scale this is the equivalent of someone robbing your house, emptying your bank account, and brainwashing your child, and no one cares? At least with 9-11 we don't have people saying, "Oh yeah, yet another terrorist act... whatever, just make sure you get to work on time and bring home something nice for dinner."

But at least Sega seems to be listening this time, so hopefully their service will continue to improve and the expansion will be amazing.

You have a valid point. But your valid point is completely deluded because you're preaching the right things at the wrong people for the wrong reasons at the wrong time.

Serephim pretty much summed it up. Every game is subject to hacking. It's not like Sonic Team can prevent any attempt at hacking before they begin. But they have announced that they are working on the issue and only a day after the incident. They have not abandoned us over this incident.

So in this light, your point is completely moot and irrelevant. So, I ask again. What are you trying to prove?

Wallin understands what I'm saying. I agree that in light of recent events my criticism seems misplaced, but I do remember what happened the last time script kiddies ran rampant with PM bombs and room deco theft. The script kiddies made people miserable for over a week before Sonic Team did anything, and I definitely don't recall any GMs making attempts to get people their items back. Their response to this current incident was unexpected in light of their dismal history in dealing with hacks and exploits, but it is what they should have done, so props to them. Perhaps they are learning.

And I'm not trying to "prove" anything, why do you keep asking me that?

I don't do it to get better stuff... nor do I get pissed when sega bans me. I was stupid enough to get caught, I laugh. lol I just hack because it's fun to play around like that. Some are pissed at hackers because they do damages, I know that sucks. I try not to, really. I just do it for myself/fun as said. But, some other people are just jealous. I'm not saying all.. but I know some are. No use in hiding it.
