"You have no life".

Playing videogames IS having a life. You are keeping yourself occupied. It is a lot better than being out in the street selling drugs and being in and out of jail. THAT's no life.

I think the main reason for such opposition is jealousy. Remember - that person getting 90 while you're 75 is not stopping you from getting 76. You're stopping yourself. Perhaps the level of 'love' you have for this game is the same as thier but they express it a lot differently than you do.

(you = in general)

One last thing which should be a given. What someone does 500 miles away from you, shouldn't matter as it's not affecting you physically. But you're allowing it to affect you emotionally O_o.

I think the only thing I'd say is that you can have a psychological addiction to video games. Even if it's a life to be led, there is more to life than just screen time and constantly playing games in ones spare time. (At least, that's personally how I see it. There are so many opportunities to experience fun and different things, sometimes we get side-tracked or forget.) Also I'm not saying you have an addiction, just that you were talking about drug selling and such and I agree that there's no greatness in leading that kind of life. Just wanted to point out that video games can be addictive in their own way. I know you weren't talking about drugs in general, just people who deal with drugs and jail and such, it just reminded me and I felt the need to pop that in there.

As for allowing things to affect you emotionally, some people don't consider relationships with others outside of ones immediate area to be any different from those who do live nearby. I mean yes, you get to see your friends and having physical interaction with them as well as allowing to see facial expressions/hand gestures and such which help you read them a lot easier than being able to talk to them on the phone/internet. But we are all people, some of us are honest while talking to people over the internet. You can develop an emotional bond because of the things shared with certain people. It doesn't matter if they're nearby or far away, if one trusts in them and talks to them often then he/she may be hurt if something bad was to happen to them.

Anyways, don't take shit like that from people. You live your life the way you want to live it. I doubt you're doing anything wrong, but don't forget that sometimes we get caught up in the things we do and forget about other things in life. There's a balance, what makes you happy and those around you who you want to keep close. If you had no life, you'd be dead. I know that's more of a figurative saying, but you're not dead inside are you? If not, pay no heed to their slander.

Both of you guys hit that right on the nose, no wait, you drilled that on the nose. I have to deal with the same situation with my little sister, in which for example, we both love Guitar Hero and whenever we decide to play together and I win, she automatically says that I have no life.

Sure...poor little baby just got her ass kicked and can't accept the fact.

Oh, another thing, I play StepMania (I dont care what you think about me for that) and she used to play it too, but whenever I'm playing like a reaaly fast or hard song and she happens to see it, what do ya know? comes right out with it- "you are such a loser, people who play that have no life"

Ok...you used to play that too

Ay...the younger siblings always contradict themselves...

Siblings http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif I have had many issues with mine. He keeps saying I have no life since I spend much of my time in front of my computer typing on the forums. My view, I have more of a life than him since I am at least talking to people and doing things. He never really talks to people, is rarely out of the house (I leave it more than him), doesn't want a girlfriend, and plays video game (literally) 24/7. Doesn't sound like much of a life to me.

I don't really get the point of this... Who cares if ppl think you have no life... ffs you only get one so do with it what you wish.

I don't judge and tell people they don't have lives or anything like that, but I DO wonder how people hit the level caps after the updates so fast.... >_>

My universal response to insults in general is "OK." It really bothers people when they realize their insults have no impact, and that they have to continue dealing with their inferiority complex. I always deny them the satisfaction. Getting upset is exactly what they want, and trying to explain how much better your life is compared to theirs or whatever is pointless, because they don't give a crap. They just said "get a life" or whatever other insult to make you feel bad and make themselves feel better. Why play into their little mind game?

My problem with that whole concept of those who play games have no life is that the general person that says this looks better on a person who goes to a club, drinks, spending hundreds of dollars a month of alcohol, and tries to pick up women/men to have one night stands with them. I can see a world traveling socialite saying something like that, but most people are not that. They consider having a life going to a bar or club and trying to get laid as having one.

Personally i feel that doing that is the least "lively" and while it can be fun, it is not 'having a life' in the least. I consider socializing soberly AND intelligently as well as taking in the world as having a life. While playing on the net is not the best way to do this, it is probably the cheapest.

Well, in response to that, I spend far too much money on alcohol... maybe cos I'm English and that's "inbred" in me (those who are fellow Englishmen will have to agree). I am a VERY social person, and in my country socialising often means going to the pub and chatting with my friends... (as well as drinking). But! I also love to spend my time on psu/pso. I think I have a good balance. I would argue with anyone who slagged me off for drinking with my friends... it's part of my life... but I would also argue with anyone who had a go at me for playing a game which I love... live with it people! Find YOUR balance xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Having no life can be due to many reasons. For example.
-You have different interests.
-You are not a very social person.
-You like spending time alone.

And many, many more. Its not always becouse people are picked on or pushed down that they hide and dont wanna spend time with other persons. It might be other reasons as well.
