Whats the price?

It's being touted as GM's answer to the Mustang (again). If they want it to compete well, it needs to start somewhere around $18,000 for the very, very basic model with a V6 all the way up to over $35,000 for the top end model with the V8 and all the racing trimmings, probably closer to $40,000. I'd assume that that top model would be the successor to the infamous Z/28 and their answer to the Mustang Shelby GT. So, yes, it will start out cheap, but to get the full muscle car experience to get the V8 you're talking probably between $25,000 and $30,000, similar to the Mustang GT.

I'm sorry but they're in completely different leagues, always have been and always will be. Hell, the Skyline doesn't even exist in the US right now. It's been replaced by the Infiniti G35 as a luxury mid-sized sport sedan or coupe. In 1968 for instance while the Z/28 was running with nearly 400HP, the Skyline was offered in 88, 108, and 127HP engines in the form of a 4-door sedan. It wasn't until the 1968 model that the GT-R was introduced with up to a 160HP engine in the 2000GT-R.

The Camaro is a pony/muscle car while the Skyline has been a family car, then sports sedan/coupe, and (in the US) is currently an entry level sporty luxury car better comparable to the Cadillac CTS or Acura TL. It's completely dependent of your wants and needs as they both serve completely different purposes. Both are sporty, but aside from that they're in completely different worlds.

Yes it is, for Nissan especially.

Just a quick google search yields the price isn't set, but I didn't find any quote of as high as $85,000 where's your source?

Last year or so I showed my dad a preview out of a magazine that had a quote of $50,000. At that price point most US residents won't buy a Japanese car and would rather just buy a BMW or Mercedes or random overpriced SUV here that won't ever go off road.

No lawyer or company head wants to roll into the executive garage with a Nissan, top of the line or not. But the hand me down kid without the job and expendable paychek will pick it out of his Need For Speed game/Import Ricer magazine and force the pop's to splurge like its a crappy MTV show about spending money on crap.

It'd be closer to 30k stock and 40k luxury.
Why would you want a muscle car anyway ? Should buy a pink Beetle with a novelty horn and humorous bumper stickers. And Shin Evo GSR > Skyline.

Or the Beetle shaped like Pikachu with the lightning tail spoiler, its yellow like a Bumblebee Transformer; close enough.

And you won't have the constant requests for your car to transform, that would get old fast.

I've seen a pink car before...

Wow, it was like Pepto Bismol pink too, it was a normal car but a bright pink.

I want a Camaro because well, its a Camaro who wouldn't want one? &Having Bumblbee in the Transformers being one made me wan one but in black, or blue, or maybe yea even yellow. XD

If you make $100,000 a year, and want to spend $85k on a car, and have multiple homes, chances are that you're relying on insane debt. Like, you're a gimp in your Bank's basement.

Or your child is bragging, but doesn't know the actual numbers.

But, seriously, don't get a stupid sports car if you have that much money. People will key/kick that thing in a college parking lot. Someone kicked in one of my Civic's fog-lights, I can only imagine what they would have done if my car cost more. Go luxury :<.

Movie cars are exaggerated from their RL counterparts, this one a million times over since it turns into a robot to help save the human world. Looks too much like the Mustang to me.

And you'll have to drop twice the coin to get those scratches out at the dealer if its a luxury car, not to mention regular tune ups and upkeep being inflated as well.

May be incorrect, but wasn't the Skyline coming back as a powerful sports car sometime in 2008? Pretty sure Nissan have only referred to the prototype as a GT-R so far, and have been running Nurburging with Infinitis fitted with the new GT-R engine.

I've always loved the Skyline since the R30 model, upto the R34- hopefully Nissan will bring it back as the import sports car its known as, rather than a family car.. the R33 model was (at the time) one of the only road-legal cars capable of lapping the Nurburgring in under 8 minutes- that's fast. To replace it with a family car is a real shame- I would've taken a Skyline R33 over anything like a Porsche/Mercedes, heh.

The 2009 Camaro is a car I can't take seriously- as Haya said, it looks way too similar to the newest Mustang. When I think of Camaros I think of IROCs, and the classic ones- the newer ones never really interested me.

R33 Skyline GT-R Vspec > any Evo http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif Sorry, huge Skyline fan here.

Eh Skylines and Supras are the cliche street cars around here, every kid who's seen Fast and the Furious seems to own one. My neighbour even has a red Skyline which is actually pretty nice looking. I've probably got a picture of it somewhere if I can find it.

Truth. My cousin makes about that much a year (80-90k depending on OT) and he doesn't even come close to affording all that stuff. And he's single without children. Then again, he's horrible with his money.

lol, well maybe not my father, but I bet I can win this pissing match when it comes to rich family members. My Uncle Tim wipes his ass with 100,000. He's Chairman of the board at iPCS currently, and was chief financial officer of SpectraSite before they were merged in a 3.1 billion dollar deal. He's rung the bell on Wallstreet, and he owns his own island... which Will Smith lives on.

My uncle Bob (who, I love, but is a total son of a bitch mind you), was co-owner of Dayton Alloy Wheels, which was pulling in about $9 million in sales before the fire in 2002. It's still hard to take him seriously, after hearing stories of how my dad used to dump pheasant shit on his head when they were cleaning the trough as kids.

And yet, I myself, am fucking broke as hell. ><

lol, bob.

And no, I don't think I'm written in any of their wills. I won't even ask Tim for money to go to collage because I'm sure he's sick and tired of people asking money from him. He's always busy at work, so I never see him at family reunions and I hardly know him outside of family crisis like when my grandparents passed away. It just doesn't seem right. Though iPCS is based in Shaumberg Il, close to where my cousin Stan lives. So I might see if I can bum a job off of him and earn my own way, rather than just asking for a handout.

My dad could be considered well off. I mean, he was telling me that new Harverd Grads at his work (Real estate businessman) get like, 250k a year. Im guessing he makes more than that...
But he tells me every goddam day. Every time i ask for something simple. A game. 40 bucks. A movie. 20 bucks.
"Dikky, you want money? Go to college, get a good job, and buy the thing yourself."
Goddam if i could get him to buy me a SHITTY car with his cash, i'd be like god.

Oh, but dont consider me a spoiled rich kid. Thats my sister. Id blow all the money on videogames.
cant wait till im 18....or get a job....
