Look, I tested my internet connection today (SUPPOSED TO BE 6MBPS but not...)

I was SATISFIED, considering I could do anything without lag or disconnection.

NOW LOOK!

Could be a whole slew of problems.

If you're on wireless, that could be the reason.
Your router might be acting up/dying.
If you're on cable, your ISP might be acting up.
If you're on Satellite, bad weather might mess things up.
If you're on DSL, you might be too far away from the... POP, is it?
Oh, and your in-home wiring may have gone bad, or solar flares are popping up.

Call up your ISP and complain at them. It's not uncommon for an ISP to sell you a high-end broadband connection, then connect you at a much lower speed, thinking that you'll never know the difference.

Well, it's a brand-new house and we just replaced all the wiring, I don't think it's that. :/

I think DSL just sucks. Anyway, I'm using a wired connection. But the funny thing is, I just used the actual SBC internet test, and it says the time it'd take me to download ONE mp3 is 32 minutes, at 10.52kbps. I can upload at over 280kbps though. I'm so confused.

We did call them today, and they bitched and whined that it was US and our modem/router (which we just bought a couple months ago...google for the AT&T 2700 HG Modem) and then when we convinced them it wasn't, when they claimed it was something with the line going from our house to their "something" (i forgot)

So anyway, we've got a technician ("SEND A TECHNICIAN WITH SOME BRAINS TOMORROW") on his way here for tomorrow to try to fix it.

Seriously, the attitude to take is, "I am not receiving the bandwidth that I am paying for. Fix it."

It really could be your router, though. Those things can freak out/die at pretty early ages.

Yes, that happened with our old modem, it was one of the older 2wire modems that SBC gave us, but now I'm using the one I bought from Best Buy.

We told them we're not going to pay for the past couple days of internet we've had, since it's been completely useless and disappointing.

Also, I must LOL if they do double my speed, because then I'd have a whole 21.62kbps downloading speed. (sarcastic excitement)
