GC: Question about Mag Cells

I just got GC PSO and I was wondering what exactly are mag cells and if you can get any of them offline?

MAG cells are special items that transform your MAG(if it fits within the requirements for the MAG cell you are using) into a rare MAG type.

I'm not sure if you can get them offline or not, the only ones I've heard of anyone getting are in online quests and recently Santa Rappies in Episode 2 have been dropping MAG cells.

So they probably can't be found offline? I read on some guide that they can be found in vhard forest.

I believe that information is based on the DC version of the game, wheras, in fact, MAG cells could be found in VHard Forest. However, I believe this has been changed now, and I suppose they only allow for these MAG cells to be found during Holiday events.
