The Varista looks like a sawn-off shotgun. And the Braveace looks similar to a futuristic .45 Magnum. Anyone else know anymore?

There are other weapons in Phantasy Star that look similar to real life ones.

Take Panzer Faust for an example; it was used by Germans in WW2 I believe to blwo up tanks and stuff.

That's why their names are what they are. The names usually depict the weapon's appearance.
