Jihad the Musical, soon to be preformed at the Edinburgh Festival, has been drawing sharp criticism and protest for being a "tasteless portrayal of terrorism and its victims". Petitions have been sent to the Prime Minister calling for him to publicly condemn the production and cancel the show. I haven't heard wiether or not he will call for the cancellation of the show, of he will let it proceed.

Personally, I think this is some cool shit. The production is a wonderful satire and exactly what we need right now. I would love to go see it were it ever to come to the US. Plus, the girl who plays Noor is pretty cute.

That song was great XD

I've always thought that the best way of dealing with the terrorist threat is to laugh at it. It bothers me (though it doesn't surprise me) that people are trying to get it cancelled - people might not like it (and they don't have to) but I respect the principle of freedom of expression that gives these people the right to mock things.

It'd be a minor victory for terrorists if the fear of offending people led politicians to shit on our liberties.

You raise a good point, Mewn. After all, terrorism, by definition, is the act of inflicting terror. If we don't feel fear, there really is no terrorism.

satirism is win in my book. even if you're dealing with sad subjects, it can be good to kick back and laugh at things every now and then, if only to take the ebb off. Great song.

that's an asinine thing thing to do as it misses the point of why they are doing what they are doing in the first place...

however to cancel would be worse than any attack they could ever do.
