If you're running Vista ultimate on your PC then you're MORE than capable of running Halo 2 (with a GeForce video card no less...that's like asking will an egg cook on the payment in 90 degree weather.)

Can't tell you that, I'm not a spec type of dude. What I do know, from you listed, that your machine is more than capable of running a game optimized for Win XP and hardware from over two years ago.

Firstly, the 8600 GT is about the same performance as the 7600 GT. It wouldn't be much of an upgrade at all. The 8600 GTS would be a minor upgrade but not worth the money frankly.

Secondly, Halo 2 does not support 1440x900 for some reason. It does support 1280x720 and 1680x1050, but not 1440x900.

Third, I can't tell you how it will perform. You'll simply have to install it an play with the options to see what work best for you. Even computers with identical parts will perform differently due to the user.
