Golden Axe + PSO = Lunia (new online action RPG)

A friend told me about this new game. It's basically structured like PSO (4-man team games, x amount of players per block), with Golden Axe-like gameplay.

The game entered open beta on August 1st and will be free to play once it goes live. Lots of quests and unique missions make it a fun game to play. There is also a PvP arena.

First you need to register at GNG:
http://www.gamengame.com/gng/index.php (click "sign-up" at the top)

Then register at the Lunia site using your GNG ID:

Open Beta ends August 28th, so I imagine sometime in September. You can still register for and play the open beta now. As a bonus for playing the beta you can keep the Godess' Necklace (http://global.lunia.com/news/read.asp?ConfigID=1&SearchField=Subject&SearchText=&GotoPage=1&BoardID=2165) that you earn in the game.

I was gunna try this but it was in closed beta and and my laptop didnt have enough room.

Okay, I've downloaded it, but when I hit the "Play Game" button, nothing happens.

Any idea what's happening?

I have the same problem as Tact, and I've tried various things. I have my latests drivers, the needed version of DirectX, installed East Asian Language packs, mess with graphic options, nothing. Finally I just gave up and uninstalled. The bug report area on their site is no good either. They list three incredibly simple solutions, plenty of people have tried them with no results. Only one (not having the latest DirectX) has ever caused me to see this sympton in other games. I meet the recomended requirements, blow some of them out of the water.

I just finally sai screw it and uninstalled.

more detailed description of symptom: Click the shortcut to launch the client, client checks for patches or whatever, and then you click Play Game. Client disapears, and nothing else happens. No program running in processes either.

If you can't launch the game to this:

Control Panel > Regional and Language Settings > Advanced > Select "Japanese" (or Korean) from the drop-down box.

This is a common problem with Korean games.

tried, didn't work, and yes I know how enable it. granted, might solve someone else's prob. didn't do anything for me. I could try reinstalling I guess. meh.





Well, for whatever reason, it's working now. Didn't play much, but it seems nice enough, 'cept for the first thing anyone said was "**** noob."

It seems like the GUI is copied off of Trickster Online, one of GnG's former efforts. Infact, it looks the same as Trickster, right down to the art style.

EDIT: Er, I should mention that it's not a bad thing that it's similar. Trickster is just a better game, all means by the fact that it's been out longer.
