View Full Version : Hey, a rant that's not about PSU.

How does Disney do it. High School Musical 2 broke the record for the most viewers of a program on basic cable television, amassing around 17 million minions for two hours of bad acting and heinous giggling from Vanessa Hudgens. Fortunately, my soul was spared, for I watched only a small portion of it, during which I experienced the distinct sensation of numerous Mickey Mouse-headed crows pecking viciously at my eyes. I'll admit, if I were any younger I might be sucked into the vortex as well, but there are people my age who are enamored with it, too. This mostly involves females cooing over their precious Zac Efron...so perhaps jealousy fuels my rage. But that's preposterous http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif.

Starting last summer, my vendetta with Disney got personal. As a competitive jump roper, I'm fairly used to dealing with BS from the moronic varsity athletes who lack the brain cells to see past their helmets and baseball bats. To assist in my plight, Disney flies to the rescue with Jump In, a movie that practically mocks the sport with strobelights and spontaneous dancing, not to mention a complete lack of talent. From then on, it was war.

So maybe my views toward High School Musical are biased. I just can't stand how good Disney is at marketing something so brainless to so many demographics. Everything from Disney feels like a controlled environment, where "magic" is in the air and there are plenty of pseudo-jolly laughs to go around. If speech and movement wasn't so programmed, the actors might have the opportunity to be a little more geniune for the camera.

I don't know where I'm going with this. I just needed this to be purged from my system, and assured that I'm not the only sane person left. Or the only crazy one http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_redface.gif.

I, also, really don't see the buzz about that damn movie, or disney for that matter. I did watch it, but only because my friends, who are in love with that damn thing, wanted to have a little party to watch it. Most of the kid movies about sports and what not are utter crap. Since they get some person who jumped rope when they were 5 to claim they're the best money can buy to teach jumping rope, or playing basketball, football, the works. It's a twisted system and I've yet to see how they actually do it, but they pull it off somehow; if only I had that kind of luck. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

"Hey, a rant that's not about PSU" no, but it's just as stupid http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif As for the disney thing, its only expected that they'd have a big following I mean its DISNEY XD any chick under 15, any boy who's metro and any parents with children are REALLY into the preteen disney shows. If it helps you, those 17 million that watched that movie have no real taste at all, they're more or less brainwashed disney conformists. The best method is to give them some time before they realize that magic and colorful high schools are not real http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I'm not a big fan of Disney, more often than not, I find that if they produce something interesting, it was with the help of another company.

I blocked the Disney Channel on my cable box many years ago. Why not flip a couple stations over to the Discovery or History channels where you can watch something that's educational and interesting.

Indeed, instead of whatching Disney try to recycle the same characters through as many different roles as they can, or cash in on every successful movie they produce with a lame television series, you could be learning about WWII or Al Capone! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Thats alright Joe, I hate High School musical too. I kinda stopped watching Disney movies ages ago except for ones with "Pixar" tacked on, because those tend to have a better story and the acting isn't as horrendous(not sure if thats how that word is spelled).

Also you just reminded me of another topic I'm going to go rant about right now. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Do it for Ashley Tisdale at least http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

You read my mind, Sayara...

Among the cast, Tisdale is probably the most bearable. I don't know why, she just seems a little less phony, though that could be part of the nefarious scheme...

I hear you there. I don't even watch much Cartoon Network anymore. They lost all of their good shows a while back. Give me Modern Marvels, Mythbusters, and Dirty Jobs anyday.

How It's Made and Cash Cab are decent to watch from time to time.

That said, I LIKE High School Musical.

And PD reminded me how much I hate ANYTHING that's Disney/Pixar, while everyone else on thep lanet like GUSHES for them everytime they come out. Gushes BLOOD. Monsters Inc was not God, and neither is Ratatoiulle http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

It's because every heterosexual female between the ages of 12 and 18 has to cross her legs upon laying eyes on Zac Efron. (sp?)

And every male in their right mind will forever wonder why. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

don't forget every other actor has to be a freaking singer!

the newest thing I can think of that Disney made and I like, was Fantasia 2000. Hardly new at all. I don't like Pirates of the Carribean, as unusal as that may sound.

Oh dear. I have to give Disney some credit. I do like Pirates...only because the googly-gaggly factor of learning morals and living happily ever after are somewhat diminished. Plus killer SPFX.
