I've been waiting for this game for too long. God damn it looks awesome. I don't have it yet, but I want to get it pretty damn badly. I'll pick it up sometime this week maybe.

If I can get a Wii soon, this will likely be the first game I get for it. I hated the first Prime, but the Wiimote seems to be this magical wand that fixes the controls.

I bought it a couple of hours ago. I agree with your statement of "This game is awesome."

Right now I'm up to the part where you meet the ice guy and get the Command Visor.

Oh ****, it's out? Still too early in the school year for me to be buying games, especially ones this good... Ah, what to do...

By the way, I stand by an earlier statement. Nintendo is the only game that makes anything worthwhile anymore.

Probably 50-60 bucks.

I don't even have a Wii http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Wii games are 50 bucks in the U.S. (unlike 360 and ps3 games which cost 60) And I am SO picking up this title later today, I've never really played a metroid game until just recently, I managed to snag MP:1 & 2 as a late birth day present http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif still playing through one.

Starts out slow as hell but dang it just keeps getting better, and it genuinely makes me jump and it does scare me from time to time hah! One of the few games that's ever been immersive enough to make me do that http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway I doubt I will beat the first one before I play 3 it's just too tempting.

Also seeing how this is the metroid thread and from what I understand you can exchange achievement tokens for bonuses, why not exchange codes?

Sgt_Shligger
Aug 28, 2007, 02:51 PM
On the topic of the old games, I beat the first one though I never did beat the second one (don't own it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif)

Of course by then, an even more awesome game will be out http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

how is it then, does it play any different to the other primes? what annoyed me about them was when you start out the games there is all these coloured doors you can't go through until much later at which point you've forgotten where they all are. so is there less or more of that because otherwise mp1 was one of my favourite gc games

Thats the entire basis of the Metroid series. You're SUPPOSED to gain new abilities and weapons that allow you access to hidden and in-accessible areas, to back-track and find secrets and new things.

Darkly
Aug 28, 2007, 05:56 PM
I agree that gaining new abilites etc. to unlock new areas is fun, its just that it all got a little too complex for me, as i generally lost my direction. Once i found a new power up, i was like right now where should i go , so after consulting the map i would head off to a room where i could unlock a door only to realise when i got there that i needed another ability to get up to the ledge where the door was for example, it led to a lot of aimless wandering which made it a bit frustrating.

i just hope back-tracking isn't so painful in corruption.

Sekani
Aug 28, 2007, 07:30 PM
Reviews have claimed that there are some new transit systems that reduce the pain of back-tracking.

I should have my copy in a couple of days, just waiting on funds. And I still probably won't have beaten BioShock by then, lol I suck.

I can't believe Gamespot, I just can't. They gave MP3 a f'ing 8.5.
I was so shocked of this that I searched up LOZ:TP to see if they rated that badly too, was I right, HELL YES! They gave TP a score of 8.8! They even had the guts to rate the GC version 8.9!

KodiaX987
Aug 28, 2007, 09:45 PM
Gamespot complained that the "improved controls made the game too easy". That should have made you stop going to that site altogether, forever and ever.

They also gave Zelda:TP GC 8.9, told that the Wii version was better, while the Wii version had gotten 8.8. DURRR!

Please stop going to a website run by people who can't perform basic math and logic. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I approve of this game.

Aug 28, 2007, 10:25 PM
I didn't realise 8.5 and 8.8 were LOW scores...

I'm excited for this game. I never beat either Metroid Prime games, but that's not because they sucked, but because I never had the motivation to beat them. Have TONS of fun playing them though.

And somehow, as gimmicky as the Wiimote really is, it just... it naturally just makes games more fun.

I won't deny that it's a good game, but it just doesn't suit my taste. IMO Metroid and also Castlevania should always have remained 2D.

Well they aren't bad scores at all, the problem is that it's technically a low score for a AAA title. When every other site and magazine gives consistent 9.4's(or whatever) and up to a game, gamespot comes in with a late review and low balls their score almost intentionally it seems.

Having just spent an hour with the game I can honestly say a lot of the points made in the review are unwarranted.

Does it have faster pacing than the original? Yes
But it doesn't lose its exploration elements at all.

And the controls are spot on, the only way you could have any problems with the motion controls for grapple beam/door locks is if you happen to move slower than a sloth, lol

I also found that morph ball jumping doesn't work when your rolling up against a wall and trying to jump simultaneously. Very minor, only problem I've had so far, but even that just requires me to pay more attention to what I'm doing so it's basically a non issue.

And yeah after playing CoD3 I honestly don't even play halo anymore... The wii basically ruined any non wii game experience I've had http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif For some reason it just makes any game THAT much better XD

MP3 really makes me wish I could play like... Bioshock on my Wii... Really the Wii is just so awesome for fps...

Gameplay-wise, I find MP3 so much better than it's predecessors due to Wii controls. The level of immersion that they provide make up for all my problems with the original titles. Also, faster pacing helps. Always found MP to be rather slow for me.

Another thought... Why don't they just go ahead and make Samus talk? It's not like she is the same type of silent protagonist as Link or Mario. She has had frequent narrations in her past games, and I think the series would do well from vocalizing her. Unless of course, Nintendo still thinks male gamers won't be able to identify with her... Which is bogus but I can understand the logic.

I don't think its that, more like keeping the mysticism of Samus. In Fusion, Samus actually had some text and it was weird to finally learn something about the Bounty Hunter. It definitely wasn't bad but it was very telling. With a character like Samus, anything she says will tell a lot about her. So I think in orer to keep the enigma that is Samus they have her be a Silent Protagonist. I personally love it and I'm glad they kept it this way. Leaves alot to the imagination. It sort of reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus and the minimalist dialogue of the game.

This game is one of the best games I have ever played... I'm so gonna see that secret ending I unlocked later on today, and probably start a Vet Mode game.

If you own a Wii, you must buy this game, or at least rent it.

It's kinda unfair; I don't want a Wii because of the gameplay style.
But the first two Metriod Prime's have pretty much been my favourite games on the GC.
Why can't they release it on the GC? =[ =[ =[
I'm gonna stop coming to this topic, it's depressing me =]

Thanks for the voucher EJ! I just sent you one too, also... is that mii in my parade you O_o?

Thank god you didn't send the voucher earlier... I ran into a little level design error on the first planet and saved there... I couldn't move forward or go back without dying so I had to start over http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The good thing is though I managed to scan the boss I missed whilst falling down that massive shaft... OMG best boss fight EVAR? I got so into it the first time that I forgot to scan him ;_; and went right away to whipping his arse http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Right now I'm playing on veteran, I heard normal was sort of easy since they are trying to appeal to a more casual audience this time around. And the difficulty thus far is perfect.

Is it just me or are the wii's fps'es more cinematic in a way? I mean in any other fps it feels like my head is locked in with my arms, the way the gun moves across the screen just seems much more natural and I get into it way more. Like I actually unconsciously pull my hand back after I fire a charge shot as if I'm reacting to recoil. I feel like I'm actually ripping the enemy's shield away from them in a "That's what you get for being so damn ugly" manner.

I hope this game has memorable moments like the first and second one. For me, the best part of the first game was the Omega Space Pirate. I just loved the look of it and the music. Second one, when I got to that futuristic fortress and fighting Dark Samus for the last time. I would buy this game when (if) it comes out in the UK, but the Wii is my brothers and it just doesn't feel the same as if it was my own Wii. I just beat it too recently and yes theres many memorable moments; more than MP 1 and 2 in my opinion. For example, when you defeat a boss in any one of the seeds you absorb massive amounts of phazon and go super sayan to destroy it.....3 times. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif speaking of seed....PSU???

very simple it's called the phazon enhanced d-something (lol can't recall) suit or p.e.d. suit, it utilizes phazon to power up your wep systems temporarily @ the cost of an energy tank.
