Yay Patriots!
This year is gonna be just like last year. Whoever wins the AFC should win the SuperBowl. The real SuperBowl last year was Colts/Patriots, and we all know it's true.

Did you hear the Jets cheated against the Ravens, and still lost?

People are making a bigger deal out of it than it is, especially if you understand how football works.

ok, well you may have a point there. it really isnt as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. i really hate the patriots though, and they do not deserve to win. patriots fans have no heart or soul, and them being a dynasty takes away from the thrill of watching the game. in any case, the AFC, like usual, will be the deciding factor in the superbowl winner.

chargers are failing and i figured this would happen. last year they were almost insurmountable because they knew how to capture momentum, primarily in the second half. football is all about momentum, like most sports. and when they versed the patriots last year in the playoffs, you could see them having trouble creating a nice flow of momentum, primarily because bill belliCHICK is a pompous that fits his team well. its like the yankees of football. yankees fans arent real baseball fans.

but the truth is, the patriots cant be stopped now. i was hoping that their time would have passed last year, but now nobody can stop them. cowboys are the best of a bad bunch in the nfc, and i have been saying that a quarterback's composure, confidence, leadership, and intelligence are much more important than physical attributes(vince young is garbage. he should play reciever, he takes away from the integrity of the game posing as a quarterback... running quarterbacks are retarded).

i hate to say this, as much as i still stand by my cowboys and tony romo, i think if green bay really is the real deal as they have been showing, they are the only ones that can defeat the pats in the superbowl. they did it once before, and brett farve must play free safety and intercept tom brady's pass to moss, stiffarm moss into the ground and giving him a career-ending concussion, and then run the interception in for a touchdown. right before he makes a touchdown, tom brady will be standing on the 1 yard line waiting for favre, in which brett will run right right for him, be a few inches from tom brady's face, time will freeze and he'll say to brady:

"you're no brett farve"

and then will bury brady into the ground, causing the stadium to explode and football itself will have to retire forever.

but i do think tom brady is awesome, hes from michigan so i cant hate him. but pats are ruining the game by taking away some of the more interesting story lines just so new england can continue their monopoly on the NFL

*snip* language and removing the quotes you're not talking about that are just taking up more space

if you watched the game, you should have heard john madden's well-played pun on winston justice not being able to stop usi umenyiora's 6 sacks on mcnabb on sunday night game:

"he cant stop him. there is no justice in this game at all. theres just no justice in the meadowlands."

hes right, the eagles dont deserve justice, and i dont mean the player. mcnabb deserved the fate he recieved after shooting down the critic's opinions on how to view the detroit lions, just because he had to "prove people wrong." well even without westbrook, when your backup BUCKHALTER gets over 100 yards rushing in the game on only 17 carries, you figure that mcnabb could have at least made one touchdown happen. so much for being "one of the top quarterbacks in the league." tony the romo can do it without a consistent runningback because he embodies all the traits needed in a quarterback. who else can take a botched snap and find a way to turn it into a first down without being michael vick or the shitty(hardly a quarterback) vince young?

aside from the giants winning... THE LIONS, my boys, were looking great in the fourth quarter breaking records. it was sloppy at times, but they got the job done, and thats what i'm loving about my team that just last year had such a "loser" mentality. now i am not claiming that the lions are going to eventually win the superbowl, their defense has much to be desired, but their offense is getting the job done. even with a good performance on defense because brian griese wasnt quite the playmaker today, the lions defense still needs to tweak quite a few things before they are a worthy contender in the nfl. yes, they won. but alot of the occurences was luck and a shoddy offense on the bear's behalf. next week i have a feeling the lions will lose to the redskins because they havent properly prepared for a mediocre matchup. when the redskins are using the same schema as the lions with luck and sloppy wins, its just going to end in a disasterous matchup.

the bears lost the intensity and deadly presence they had on defense last year, but not only on defense. their quarterback situation and trying to make something out of grossman is just killing their morale. they need a much more dependable and much much much more CONFIDENT quarterback than they have right now. a quarterback that doesnt get carried away in failure is one that can keep the team on an even keel. they need a general that can just keep the troops focused and settle down on mistakes. the defense and special teams will win them the workable field position.

CHARGERS. who would have thought that the san diego chargers would fall to 1-3 to start off the season? they need to find the spark, and they need it quickly. when they learn to channel their emotion as the young overconfident winners that they had last season, they will be the feared san diego once again. but this sort of thing happens with teams entering a new season all the time. as soon as they find a balance, they'll bounce back and HOPEFULLY make the playoffs at least. when they grab momentum, typically in the second half, they are unstoppable juggernauts that can instantly vaporize a 20 point deficit. i can recall numerous games where the opposition already knew what was happening, and despite their efforts, they had already lost while still holding a 2 touchdown lead.

i dont even know what to say about green bay. they will verse the patriots soon enough to test their true might, but right now they are looking to be the closest thing aside from the cowboys that could possibly go toe-to-toe with the pats in the inevitable super bowl matchup. i really hope the patriot's plane crashes, they suck all the life out of the game. tom brady is the only interesting character in the bunch; the rest of the team, especially teddy bruschi and his "feel good story" after already having 3 superbowls, i can do without. i really thought after their horrible start last season that i wasnt going to have to see them ever again, that their era has passed. but bill belliCHICK just wont let it go. YOU WON 3 SUPERBOWLS. STOP THINKING OF THE PAYCHECK AND LET OTHER TEAMS WIN BY JUST RAW EMOTION AND DRIVE INSTEAD OF CHEAP WINS TO ADD TO YOUR CAREER COACHING STATS. there s no emotion in foxboro. just a bunch of solid workers that just turn the patriots into the walmart of football. a "fitting superbowl" would be for the packers to pack the patriots into oblivion. they would be a nice contest to go against the walmart, the "big business." think of the packers as a superstore called "meijers" in the midwest. and THEY ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS.

althought i knew cincinnati would not have stood a chance against the pats, the hope of beating new england becomes more bleak with every passing day. cincinnati's inability to even establish momentum at any point in the game just makes me fear of possibly seeing the patriots win yet another superbowl. all we can hope for now is some sort of freak accident to happen to the team, hopefully the browns will install a bomb in their helmets with the detonation button on the front of the helmet so on the first initial tackle of the game, the stadium explodes

dude you truly hate the patriots, and I'll never understand why.

If there's one thing I love about the Patriots, is that they're a team. They play together, they work together. "trouble" players or players people though had dead careers have gone to the Patriots and suddenly been amazing again. The patriots play the game and represent it as it should be, as a team. One reason I hate Manning is because it's all about him. Brady refuses to do any commercials without other members of his team, while Manning does commercials left and right. And who do you say is greedy for more money?

first of all, tom brady is the exception to the patriots. tom brady is awesome. his hissy fits, tantrums, leadership, and emotion are traits that give light to the complete darkness.

and i hate the patriots mainly because they are run like a business. there is no longer any emotion, its just a work effort with a single goal of "not failing." bill bellichick is just some greaseball CEO that will do whatever it takes to win, even if its just completely dulling down everything entertaining in football. i hate bellichick with a passion. if they had a different head coach that was like howard hughes and completely insane while at the same time being a genius, i'd like the patriots but still be aggrivated about their repeated success as a "dynasty."

my main gruff with the patriots is that their storyline should have ended long ago. theres really no storyline left. if they win the superbowl, what is there to celebrate? where is the epic that typically makes a tale of hardwork, unfiltered emotion, and determination that makes you and all your friends go crazy when they are beating the odds?

one of the greatest storylines i've ever seen in football was when the steelers won the superbowl, coming back to michigan as jerome bettis retired after big ben said the year before "if you stay for one more season, i'll get you a superbowl. i'll make sure of it." i knew when they barely shook through into the playoffs after beating the lions to go 10-6, they were going to go the distance. when roethisburger was the only hope of saving bettis' future legacy with that desperation tackle to nick harper in the open field that would have closed the steeler's superbowl dream, everyone was going insane. people at that point knew that the steelers had to win, and going to the press coverage events a week before the superbowl in downtown detroit was euphoric, everyone was a steelers fan and nobody could control themselves. last year's playoffs had many of those moments, too, but not quite as intense.

the playoffs leading to the superbowl are the times when there is unbridled excitement all around you because everyone has their story. i dont feel like having this be another eagles or panthers-patriot superbowls where i am just completely detatched from and could care less of the outcome, because none of those teams are interesting. plus i hate steve smith, hes just some short turd that for some reason reminds me of the shitty "dirty south" pop-rapper nelly.

i am not just a casual pro football watcher, up until this year i made sure my apartment had direct tv with nfl sunday ticket so me and my friends could see as many teams as possible playing. i love the good plot lines and the depth in the sport, i love the teamwork and the feeling you get when you sense momentum shifting in the game and a team marching down a field on a long drive. every game feels like a war with a whole arsenal of soldiers that are specialists in different categories. some say the pace of the sport is slow, but it has to be when choosing such precise plays on offense and having the defense try to choose a play to counter the actions of the attack. it isnt like basketball where you just run around and the coaches cant even keep discipline because of the egos of the players. i love playing football and i wish i could have played it longer in highschool.

football is truely one of the greatest sports ever created, and many of the legacies on the field could be made into the most complex and interesting novels. and i'm about to let bellichick take that away from me, and his piece of shit patriots are going to make this postseason the most emotionally devoid experience of my life. i guess i'll just do what i do for the world series and get really drunk at the get-togethers because its so damn boring watching the games

i hope that answers your question.

i knew it was true but failed to believe it. the detroit lions needed this win to be a ligitimate threat by beating a mediocre team that has nothing to lose. of course, they couldn't accomplish this, and probably wont make the playoffs. lions fall to 3-2, and will lose the next 5 games against actual good teams. in other news:

-bears still arent the team they were last year, they won't be this season. they went to the superbowl prematurely and fell victim to the curse of the super bowl losers. when you are a young team that experiences success, losing the superbowl will kill your spirits. the notion of getting so close to ultimate glory only to lose will kill any team's spirit, but effects the developing "elite" teams the most. the bills back in the 80s had the right mindset, but just kept losing the big one, even with scott norwood starting the trend of psychologically broken players.

-chargers won, but does not change anything. they cannot win the superbowl this year

-patriots will still be the inevitable champions unless they are plagued with a few injuries late in the season; hopefully an entire team PLANE CRASH will bellichick piloting the aircraft

-giants are starting to gain confidence in their comeback rallies

-carolina panthers proved nothing. GARBAGE

-colts are still looking good. i hate jeff garcia, and its always nice to see him lose

-houston texans are still a mediocre team. no new orleans story for them

that is all. goodnight moon

Now before I say what I am going to say, The Patriots have a very good team.

With that said, 7 - 17. That is the combined record of the teams that the Patriots have played. This is something that is left out of the picture when their record is talked about. These teams are teams they should be beating. All I see is that the Patriots have been taking care of business and nothing more. Next weekend will be their first test. After that I'll start paying attention to what their record is.

Some how a team that went to the AFC championship got a very easy schedule. Besides Dallas, the only other teams I see giving them problems are the Colts and the Steelers.

be that as it may, the patriots still charged through every team with extreme prejudice. if not by their offensive and defensive schemes, then they won through fear and intimidation. versing the patriots is like getting into a fistfight with ivan drago. killing apollo creed despite his aging skill doesnt change the fact that he smashed his face in and could possibly have destroyed rocky at that moment as well

it's not like people knew the chargers were gonna start so horribly. Originally they were considered one of the top 3 teams in the league, with the Colts and Patriots. They were considered the best team in the league at the end of last years Regular season... too bad the Patriots put an end to that too lol

oh and on top of that, the cowboys barely beat the Bills, 25-24, while the Patriots rolled over them 38-7

I don't see how any other team has a harder schedule than the Patriots... sigh, it's funny how everyone hates them just to hate them

i apologize, that was just a nickname given by peers in my area, as well as multiple areas i've been living in. i'll refuse from using tony romo's unoffiicial nickname. i am actually a very devoted fan of tony romo's, i think he is the greatest quarterback of the generation because he embodies all of the traits you expect from an elite quarterback dating decades back. i love tony romo. me using that "derogatory term" is mainly just in spite, for all of the naysayers.

and aside from this, the saints were a one-hit wonder. they had motivation last season... if they would have won the superbowl or lost in the finals wouldn't make any difference. they had all the momentum, and they didn't fully capitalize on their oppurtunity. when i watched when they versed the bears, after reggie bush did that UNCALLED FOR point at brian urlacher when bush scored that touchdown, suddenly urlacher began covering reggie bush in man coverage. i really do not like reggie bush, he is overhyped and even when he makes a big play he feels that he deserves it. bush isn't nearly that great, and he thinks he is much greater than he actually is. i wish urlacher could have given him a hit 10 times more intense than the hit delivered on him against the eagles, and i wish urlacher would have said "welcome to the nfl"... because reggie bush is still living in this fantasy hollywood lifestyle of getting everything because a bunch of 8 year old kids buy his jersey at USC. it'd be a nice lesson in humility and GENUIND adversity without leeching off a team that was doing just fine with mccallister as their starting runningback

exactly, sport conversations sometimes do get out of hand with language and such because people feel so strongly for the players, coaches, and sometimes entire organizations. females included. theres nothing more attractive than a girl that is passionate about football and really gets into the season.

Understood, but this isn't a sports message board with more lax rules on trash talk and the like.

You have to conform to the site's standards on PG-13 material.

Hell one I've visited often frowns upon people calling out players/coaches this way as well. You don't have to be a caveman about it. There's other ways to nickname or criticize players.

i understand where you're coming from on this discussion. i'll keep it clean, but sometimes its for a good laugh. i've said things about coaches and players alike that i am not fans of, and i apologize...

but let it go on the record that i am a very big fan of tony romo, everyone makes fun of me because of how great i really think he is and how much i talk about him. i use that nickname of tony romo because i find it funny, but romo is one player that i would never legitimately try to call out negatively, primarily with his nickname. its sort of like when people still giggle at randy johnson's nickname "the big unit." its funny in a "beavis and butthead" sort of way of just being downright dumb.

i'll keep it pg-13 from now on; opinions over certain teams, i know i would get heated on, but sometimes well-put rebuttal to my opinion can shift my belief.

my stance on the patriots is not a genuine hatred, but i do dislike them. i know i may have taken it too far on a few points, but its fun to get into a solid discussion when it comes to the topic of football. i dont try to say "patriots suck!" over and over, but i think they are just run much like a business, and emotion isnt a factor into their gameplan with the exception of tom brady. in addition, everyone needs that common enemy to hate that is percieved as insurmountable. the need to have the patriots lose is much like that of any epic story where the all-powerful ruler must be toppled in a glorious final battle... and the notion of this happening only fuels my devotion to the opposition (cowboys primarily in this matter)

hayabusa, i know you just want us to respect the forum, and i'll abide by your judgement.

as a closer i will say:

-i love the cowboys. i love tony romo. i wish they won the superbowl, it would be so intense if they beat the patriots. i would stand on my roof, and holler to the gods of football at that divine moment in my life. the cowboys are america's team, and romo fits the title of a "cowboy." not even in just the football sense, but as a gun-slingin renegade that gets the job done

Well its been a while since ive been on this board. Ill go ahead and put my two cents into this discussion.

I really dont like the cowboys or the patriots, but I feel that both of these teams are the top AND MOST CONSISTENT teams in their respective divisions.(even thou Romo was on the wrong side of 6 in the turnover department, look at how good the cowboys defense played.)

Unfortunately i think the cowboys could fall off of the top when they play the rest of their division. It seems that every year in the NFC east the teams always show up to play eachother. Namely the Redskins and sometimes the Giants.

GO SKINS'!!!! aha

I just hope The jags have a win over the texans today because years ago they stole most of our great jaguar players .. including gary walker, seth payne, and Toni boseli.. but now there are rarely any jag players there..

It's division Rivals for my home team today the jags and Texans.

PS: I hope The Cowboys Defeat The PAT.

Why?

because the Cowboys are in the NFC and The PATS are in the AFC. and that is where the jags are in .. The AFC

See im the other way around because im a Redskins fan.

My favorite teams are

1. Washington Redskins- My number one team
2. Houston Texans (i live in H-town and love goin to texan games)
3. I kinda like the colts offense. lol pretty exciting.

I usually follow seperate players too. But those are the only teams i actually care about.

BTW- that picture of colts pats is the funniest pic ive seen in a long time. LMAO

I'm looking forward to the Saints losing to the Seahawks tonight.http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif I've got my sour cream & onion Cheezit's ready to go, my Slim Jims, and some Pringles all set to go.

I hope the Saints can pull off a victory tonight, but damn, I'm wishing on high hopes. The biggest problem I noticed is they aren't moving the ball effectively at all. I agree Reggie Bush is over rated in some aspects, because he has yet to prove he's a big time player. I don't care what people say, Joe Horn was a big time receiver at New Orleans, and letting him go was actually dumb. They have great receviers, but Brees just isn't throwing the ball good at all. One problem is, he's a short QB, so he's having to scramble out of the pocket way too much, to actually see where his receivers are, lol. Not to mention, he really is throwing too many picks, due to him trying to throw the ball while he's jumping in the air, and not setting his feet. then again, Brees is also forcing too many throws as well.

The O-Line isn't blocking well on both aspects of running and passing. I think that's their worst problem, so that needs to get worked on badly.

The front 7 for New Orleans isn't bad, but the secondary has problems. But still, I have to point the finger at the offense first, because the Saints' defense is on the field too much, resulting in blowouts 3 of the last 4 games. They're special teams doesn't seem to get much done either.

Anyhow, the Saints look like the team they've always been, it doesn't surprise me. We have the same principle with owner issues, just as well as the Raiders do for example. We just don't get the big time players. I can see this team has great players, but they aren't clicking, and that fire that they had last season has burned out, making them just a team now. Well, that's the two cents I have for my team. Things right now are snowballing badly. If New Orleans can't turn things around in the next few games, I don't think they will have a chance the rest of the season. A win against Carolina last week could have given them some momentum, but they blew a 13-6 lead. Yeah, it would have been an ugly win, but hey...my team needs something lol.

Great game Monday Night too. Romo better be careful, because 5 picks against the Patriots will help the Cowboys lose big time, lol. Any hoot, I think the Patriots will win a close one, say 24-21.

there really is no point in a saint's victory, there will be no turnaround. its all over for them regardless.

no picture depicting the game, there is too much sorrow in my heart. i really thought that cowboys had a fighting chance when they got up 24-21. romo was having some trouble starting up, and was overly cautious in his playing... maybe it was the patriots defense was really that intimidating. but as expected, the belichick workhorse never dies. this could be the start of the dark ages in football. as long as belichick lives and tom brady is churning the butter, nothing will change. nobody can win a superbowl anymore. the only thing that may be able to stop them is the colts, and the greatest showdown could eventually be decided in the AFC once again. all we can do now is have hope that the facist organization known as the patriots self-destruct and turn on each other, starting with the loose cannon randy moss. we need to see a team with heart and relentless determination, and by golly, i thought that could be the cowboys.

my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the dallas cowboys. i would not have prayed for this game had i known the result.

peyton manning, i apologize for saying that you would never win another superbowl. but now you are the only thing that can stop this now. we dont need heart anymore, we need a perfect general who is as systematic as a machine. you halted the progress a year prior, we need you to do it again. but this time, i'm afraid the juggernaut of a team that you defeated last year has only gotten stronger. your offense in the past was considered to be unreachable by other teams, but now you have a worthy opponent on your hands. an offense as equal as the colts, with a punishing defensive threat. you're going to need help from another.

quite frankly, my boy, i'm not making them out to be evil. the patriots are just perfect, and teams rallying against the patriots make for great for storylines. sometimes in a good tale, the antagonist is neither good nor evil. it's just an absolute power, and the presumed unstoppable force being challenged.

and when a team eventually rises to the occasion to stand up to this power, you see a unity form with you and others surrounding you. if only for that single moment in time, you want the underdog to win. much like a mutiny on a corrupt ship, everyone is caught in a level of emotion that brings people to let loose in a stadium with 50 thousand. even with 20 others, the level of excitement doesnt change.

studies show that you only truely experience the taste of a food after 3 bites. YOU ALSO ONLY TRUELY EXPERIENCE A TASTE OF GREATNESS AFTER 3 SUPERBOWLS

so it's ok when say, the Colts are claimed to be amazing and unstoppable and Manning as the greatest QB ever, but not the Patriots? I get far more sick of hearing about the Colts, especially before they won last season, than I ever did about the Patriots. Again and again they said the Colts were amazing, but what had they won? Nothing. At least when you say the Patriots are great, they proved it. The Colts are finally proving their a good team, long after they were called one. While the Patriots proved they were great, before they were ever called great. That's what irks me

well the difference there is that the colts were always amazing on the field when it came to offense, but their defense was a bit lacking. they were called great but hadnt won it until last year because they losing in the playoffs even when being the team to win. of the past 4 years, they lost to the superbowl champions 3 out of 4 times. the other one time was when they won the superbowl. the colts were such a powerful force that you wanted them to just win a superbowl so you could just say "ok, now they deserve the title of greatness."

think of it in terms of the early 90s in nfl when the cowboys and 49ers were easily the 2 best teams in the nfl. steve young had to earn his superbowl, and everyone knew his 9ers were good, but he needed to topple dallas in order to have this glory. eventually, he did

Wow, I'm suprised the Saints won against the Seahawks. Reggie Bush finally looked like the RB he's supposed to be in that game for a change. No biggie though, unless they win more games, I agree with the fact they are done.

The Patriots putting up 48 points against the Cowboys was just a wowser. The Patriots look liked a team with a lot of hunger right now. The Cowboys looked liked they had the momentum their way for a good while, but it seems big plays on the Patriots side of the ball helped them get shifted right back. It's no question this is a team you have to bring your A game with, because the Pats are proving if you don't get your act together defensively, your offense better get ready to put up the points, otherwise, New England is going to get rollin' again.
I'm going to go on a limb and say that really tough 2 yard run that almost resulted in a safety was actually pretty damn funny http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Tony Gonzales get TD career #63, beating Shannen Sharpe's TE record. Grats to him for that.

Brett Favre now has broken the INT record, lol. Another record for the veteran Packer http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I'm going to pick the Giants over the Falcons tonight, I'm going to say 31-14. The Falcons are playing sloppy football so far this year, not being able to run very well for one. The Giants are playing well, but they need to have a better first half. I'm going to say they will actually do that tonight, and get at least 17 in the 1st half.

BlaizeYES
Oct 15, 2007, 10:26 PM
well you were almost right on the money... the game isnt over, but the giants may possibly get 31 points, and eli is getting better. but i want him to be "sort of" great. at least be able to win unconventionally and eventually give me an ALL-MANNING BOWL.

and new england isnt even about "rolling." when that offense hits the field, momentum already begins, regardless of how many points are put up against them or any turnovers they face. nobody can strike fear into tom brady... he's made mediocre recievers look good for years, and now he has a literally good reciever and a perfect reciever. thats whats scary about that offense now

Ryno
Oct 15, 2007, 10:39 PM
why does everyone and espn keep talking about the pats.. who cares..
too much of them.
at least talk about the colts..
they're the ones that defeated them..
just because the pats won a whole bunch of super bowls..
that's the past this is now!

and everytime i watch NFL live or sport center, etc.. about football they repeat the same thing about the patriots.

soon in the future thing will change around and different teams will be eilite.. and you will hardly hear about the pats.. just like what happend in 1999 the jags were 14 - 2!

They talked about the jags all the time that year till they started to suck..

people keep talking about the patriots because they won 3 superbowls with decent teams, and this years team surpasses those by far. The talent that they've put together is amazing. As Randy Moss said, "I've always had a saying that Peyton Manning has his receivers, why can't Tom have his?" Brady finally has amazing receivers to compliment him like Payton Manning, and he's on his way to beat Manning's single season TD record.

THE JACKEL

BlaizeYES
Oct 16, 2007, 10:43 AM
exactly. "the jackel" explained it nicely. the patriots have always been good, its just that they've never been THIS good and blown out so many teams. the cowboys were the best hit to the patriots, and they only gained the lead for a short period of time before getting pounded into the ground once again.

and if you watch sportcenter, they've said numerous times, "is there any other team that can be considered in the same league as the patriots or colts?" so although the attention is primarily on the pats, the colts are being regarded in the same category as them as a superior team.

now jacksonville is a different story. much like what you can say about the pats and colts, their talent cant be measured this early because of their schedule in the beginning of the year. kansas city was the hardest team they've had to face, and even they arent nearly as good as they were last year. the jags are more of a wildcard team, and i mean that in a way where they dont focus their game on a specific aspect. ive never really been able to see the role that they fill in the nfl. to me, they have defined themselves as a defensive team rather then a gun-slinging offense. yes, they are good, but with the exception of their win over the texans, they havent been in a game where they put high scores on the board.

the patriots and colts have consistently put up at least 4 touchdowns(with the exception of 1 game by the colts) in every game this season. we're approaching an era in football where a high-powered offense is the only key to winning the game. the top teams can have penetrating defenses, but it is only becoming a sidenote for the amazing offense. especially the patriots who were always a more conservative offensive force and would win superbowls in the past with fieldgoals, they now have the weapons to air the ball out constantly. now in the playoffs, if a quarterback cant get into a rhythm, he will probably see a hole beginning to develop rather quickly.

if you want people to change their opinions on the jags, then you have to give it time and they have to produce long-term results. i havent seen the jags play this season so i couldn't tell you how good i actually think they are, i dont have direct tv anymore. but heres what you can look forward to:

Week 7:
INDIANAPOLIS at JACKSONVILLE

Week 9:
NEW ENGLAND at INDIANAPOLIS (the best matchup of them all)

Week 10:
INDIANAPOLIS at SAN DIEGO

Week 11:
SAN DIEGO at JACKSONVILLE

those games will really show if jacksonville can take it to the limit and compete with the big boys

I found an update on http://www.nfl.com that was posted 24 minutes ago. about the top 12 teams. By Vic Carucci

In the hunt

Teams that look good enough to be among the 12 playoff qualifiers, but not based on conference.

Rank Team Record Prv Comment
1. New England Patriots 6-0 1 Ridiculously good.
2. Indianapolis Colts 5-0 2 Rested and ready for a Monday night showdown at Jacksonville.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-1 3 The NFL's second-ranked rushing attack can't wait for a crack at the league's 32nd-ranked run defense.
4. Green Bay Packers 5-1 5 This team should feel very fortunate to only have one loss.
5. Dallas Cowboys 5-1 4 The Cowboys discovered first-hand just how wide the gap is between the Patriots and most everyone else.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars 4-1 7 Quietly, the Jaguars are moving toward elite status.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-2 11 Jeff Garcia's revival continues.
8. Tennessee Titans 3-2 6 Defense carries the Titans, but Vince Young's health ultimately determines how far they go.
9. New York Giants 4-2 -- A steadily improving defense and a big-play offense have the Giants emerging as a force in the wide-open NFC.
10. Washington Redskins 3-2 8 It really wasn't all your fault, Santana.
11. Carolina 4-2 -- Forty-something quarterbacks everywhere are warming up their throwing arms.
12. Baltimore Ravens 4-2 -- Behind a young line, Kyle Boller can expect some serious heat at Buffalo.

according to that, it says green bay is amongst the elites. i dont buy that, green bay wouldnt be able to get it done. ryno, your jaguars could beat them, and i know for a fact that the cowboys could hand them a little.

pittsburg is playing like they did 2 years ago when they won the superbowl... big ben throws 25 times for a little under 200 yards and makes it work with parker.

i dont believe that the giants are really all that good, i'd like to believe this but can't. and the titans i strongly dislike, and garcia is past his prime. if he was that good, then why didnt he do something in his one year stint in detroit? probably because my lions are just horrible, but i still love them

you're right, the bears defense isnt what it was last year. but griese i think is picking up some of the slack now, which should definitely help them out. i think eventually the bears defense will be a little like last year, but not quite as intense. they'll never have that ravens defense that has stood the test of time over the past 6-7 years.

and giants are beginning to surprise me. maybe they really have found a solid rhythm. maybe this is eli's year to finally get consistent. who knows. but i will always love the giants. i will always love the lions.

and yes, only time will tell what becomes of that colt-pats rivalry. i checked the score while at work and it seemed as if the colts are up against the jags pretty well, i never even had the chance to really watch the game. its probably still on. oh well, this wasnt that great of a week of football. but this is what usually happens. a week where you just dont really care about the matchups whatsoever

yea the bears defense lost a few guys to injuries early in the year. once they get everyone healthy who knows.

BlaizeYES
Oct 24, 2007, 10:07 PM
well the bears are running on that high of brian griese making that insane march down the field for the win with under 2 minutes remaining and no timeouts. also, they are starting to feel confident with their quarterback selection, so i could imagine the bears picking up steam, but not like last year.

they will probably beat the lions next week, for redemption, but also just because theres no way they would allow themselves to lose twice to an organization that has the sloppiest wins in the nfl. the lions havent even found a way to define themselves, so they just win out of steadfast determination and a newfound spirit that detroit never was known for. they lack talent but are beginning to think like winners

and yes, i am a devoted lions fan. i need a superbowl for detroit, they've been around since the 30s and never had a superbowl appearance aside from what used to be the "big game" of the nfc championships they won in the 50s. they at least need to see the light at the end of the tunnel before getting buried by some remarkably better team in the afc.

JON KITNA FOR PRESIDENT

alright, games to watch this weekend:

-DETROIT LIONS VS CHICAGO BEARS: detroit beat chicago by setting a record for most points scored in the 4th quarter, mainly because of the collapse in the bears' defense. but this time around, chicago has their defensive starters back into the lineup, especially their secondary, so jon kitna is going to need to rely a bit more on kevin jones this time around. but the bears will probably win this one.

-DOLPHINS VS GIANTS: its in england. what else do you need. watch the game, because it's going to be nighttime there, and both teams probably havent adjusted to the time change yet, so the giants may not come out all too strong, same with the dolphins. this can be anyone's game.

-PATS VS SKINS: redskins, i will admit, have a decent team. but they are much like detroit, they are all too unpredictable. one week they could come out with an unstoppable force, followed by the next week being a bit lackluster on mainly offense. they still may show a decent stand come sunday though

this week of football is a bit better, but not quite what it will become soon enough... just think in your head: "week 9 is spitting distance away. just one more week." if you need to ask, "what happens week 9?" then i suggest you do not watch any football that day. you'll be blinded by your television screen if you put on the colts-patriots game because of the frighteningly glorious offensive displays by both teams.

lions are leading by 13 after the second half... i am praying they can hold onto the lead. they still hold that burden of being losers, and a normal loser mentality will feel that their mistakes can be negated by a lead. lets not let me and the rest of the michiganders down, detroit. beating a once-nfc champion team twice in your season would only help you gain more leverage at your hopes to make the playoffs. lets make it happen BABY.

ok, i have just recieved word from intelligence that boss bailey just got injured again. like every season. please make him be alright, and please stop griese from making a second-straight week comeback.

in other news, the game in england is horrible. i dont even know if the fans know what is going on right now. they didnt cheer when giants recovered 2 fumbles, but went absolutely batty when the players got into a scuffle

jesus. the patriots. this is becoming something you see in a movie. honestly, i think they may just blow out the colts next week. this week just shows you bill bellichick is ruthless. when he was asked by a reporter:

"you were up by 38, it was 4th and 1. why did you go for it? and you went ahead on another 4th down and went for it. why?"

bellichick: "what did you expect us to do? go for a field goal?"

thats bellichick's mindset. he refuses to go for anything other than perfection. this is turning into when you were sitting at home playing "madden 97" and you never would punt the ball or kick a field goal. actually, if you kicked a field goal, your friends would get pissed because you're not going to go for it. regardless if it is 4th and 25 on your 10 yardline, you HAD to go for it. and bellichick would do something like that. i really do think this is the one man you cannot give absolute power to. they are up by 27, and do a fake spike inside the 5 and score another touchdown.

i remember a game 2 years back when the colts were winning, and when their battered opponents started taking the field within 25 seconds as if the game was over, manning proceeded to hike the ball. that play caught peyton unbelieveable amounts of criticism for being unsportsmanlike and just ending their demise.

then what of the patriots? before when people neglected the idea that the patriots were arrogant with a shred of respect towards the game, they just completely pounded the redskins into the ground. that wasnt even running up the score. that was running the redskins out of the stadium.

literally.

joe gibbs immediately ran to the locker room after the game, without shaking bill bellichick's hand. he then claimed that he wasnt mad at anything the patriots did during the beat down. you know for a fact he was furious, bellichick just humiliated a hall of famer.

now i'm not a big ladanian tomilson fan, i think his "modesty" image he especially tried to portray last season was overdone. but think back to when ladanian ran off the field after losing last year to the pats in the playoffs, and ladanian caught so much flak from the press because of him being a baby. even i was calling him a baby for acting so immaturely and not even acknowledging any of the patriot players after the game. i'm beginning to feel that his reaction was justified.

the patriots are a great organization that is run by bellichick, and i'm really beginning to see him as a megalomaniac. the guy is insane. he has been consumed with the power to win a game with the flick of the wrist, but instead of a flick, he does 35 haymakers to the opponent's face. it would be like a local 4 year old preschooler challenging me to a fight, and then me proceeding to pound his face repeatedly as if i'm fighting a 300 pound man, leaving him crippled and in a coma right by the jungle gym.

jesus. just do enough to win the game and run the ball. tom brady is even to think of this as just "good clean fun" when it is psychologically damaging every player from every team they've versed. tom brady is a competitor. when you're the best, you still need to show some class.

did they really want to prove to the colts how tough they are, so they can go into next week's game with the colts already fearful of this team's unmistakeable power? or does bellichick feel this power his team possesses, and wants to go down in history as the most ruthless and destructive team in NFL history? i really don't know, but this is getting rediculous.

i don't even want to see this colts-pats game next week. theres no hope anymore. colts don't even possess the sheer offensive power that the patriots have, let alone the defensive talent. and as much as i think that tony dungy is a classy coach that deserves the best, he isn't as good of a coach as bellichick. bellichick sees only numbers on a field, not players. he's an evil genius, who has even gotten his apprentice manGENIUS(head coach of the jets) to feel some resentment towards him. when mangenius beat him last year during the season, bellichick didn't even want to shake his hand. it wasn't even as if he was proud of him. bellichick hated the fact that anyone could beat him, let alone someone he crafted in his image. bellichick is his own worst enemy, and the only way for himself to find respite is by annihilating every team in his path, leaving nothing left of the nfl. teams that will not even look forward to playing on sunday.

congradulations, lions. you've beat the defending nfc champs yet again this season. but they are still broken from the loss of the superbowl last year. your schedule of mediocrity now comes to an end. now stands the true test of the ages. the teams you will be facing will be tough, they'll be determined, they're mostly comprised of soldiers with a "we must win" mentality. rod marinelli will lead his troops to victory, he refuses to have anything except perfection, and you're just a group of ragtag players with various personalities that are finding unity.

ROD MARINELLI, DETHRONE THE MANIACAL BELLICHICK. TAKE WHAT YOU TASTED IN TAMPA BAY RIGHT TO DETROIT AND GIVE US SALVATION. WE NEED THE SAPP ATTACK IN THE MOTOR CITY NOW

Although in a sloppy game the giants still won.
Branon Jacobs is setting new career highs, Eli is back to his mid season form slump and the D is playing pretty good.
Tom Brady, even if he suffers a season ending injury will probably by MVP.
Game of the year next week in Indy and if there is a god the Colts will win.

my turn to speak.

well as a redskins fan i was completely amazed by how the patriots dominated us. and to add insult to the defeat our best cornerback tore his acl during the game. we are just not a good offense right now. The first few possessions the skins were making enough plays to get the offense on the field. But then the offense would go three an out. You cant do that to your defense every game, look at the bears, theve done it so much that their defense cant even stop the mighty (i respect their offense) detroit martz offensive assault. I mean the lions are playing on a whole other lvl than the bears, and skins on this matter.

I mean i felt as thou the patriots were just bullying the skins on sunday. It was like if you challeneged a one armed guy to a fist fight and while he flailed at you with one arm you taunted him and kept hitting him even when he was knocked out. I can only imagine how Gibbs and the rest of the team felt.

The redskins need to fix their miscues and get a rhythm going. Too much inconsistent play. we need to get ready for the Jets, Eagles, Cowboys, and Buccaneers all next up.

As for the patriots all i can say is i dont like them. They play the most boring, uninspired football. Their like a bunch of trained robot assassains that just play and dont show any emotion. The team seems to have one character that they dont have any character.

I just am ready for someone to beat them down and bring them back to earth. Bellicheck is a good coach and i respect him but i dont like him.

i always said that its always best to show no emotion whenever possible in life, because thinking with logic and not becoming emotional is the way to go. patriots are proving my theory to the T. but football is the one time you see me get emotional, and typically it is me hollering at the top of my lungs. and bellichick is ruining that

double, you're right. i'm not going to talk much of the patriots-colts game, it wasnt very impressive, and even the patriots win didnt prove much. the game itself was boring, with not much going on until the latter half of the 4th. and even then, it was but a spurt of energy for new england. neither team played to top calibur, and it only showed me that patriots CAN be beaten, they arent invincible, and steelers may very well have a shot of taking away that perfect season... because the pats WONT achieve it. if they do, they won't win the superbowl, it's just an impossibility.

and yes, the lions manhandled the broncos. just watch shaun roger's run. jesus, i couldnt stop laughing. that dive into the endzone is priceless. but still, i dont know about them. i've been raised my entire life to always believe that the lions will always fuck up a good thing. i'm trying to believe, but you know that as soon as you start believing in that team, you will get let down. thats what i love about detroit... we have successful teams in basketball, hockey, and even saw some in baseball last year. whenever we get to any sort of playoffs or championship, we are skeptical because we are afraid of committing fully to a team, because of their repeated failures. but when we finally do believe, the whole city blows up. its anarchy. like the stanley cup back in 1997. i was like 12 years old and i still remember being at the parade and bum rushing steve yzerman and the stanley cup with a thousand other people. jesus, if the lions eventually can make it to the superbowl, not this year but eventually, detroit would probably explode.

adrian petersen is insanely good. i still think that the ravens are worse with air mcnair in. he is doing nothing for the team. the end

Yes the Pats aren't invincible, but in order for the opposing team to beat them, they need to pressure Brady all day (Just like the Colts did, until the 4th qtr). I noticed Brady is horrible when he's pressured a lot by the pass rush. A good example was in 2004, where they lost to the Steelers and Dolphins, Brady looked horrible on those two games.

Anyway about the football game yesterday, Raven's offense = sucks.

lol payton manning baby... i still cannot believe the pats lost against the chargers... but then again, it was all chargers defense all day, because of what adrian petersen did to them the following week, they had to make up for lost ground.

on that note, adrian petersen was injured, i didnt really get my facts straight yet, but that could be a main contributor to the shutout. everyone knew that the vikings offense relied on petersen's production, and that may be lost... someone please tell me how serious it is, because then i can find out if the lions have a chance to beat the vikings in their rematch.

and on that note, the lions and giants game will be horrible. lions will lose, because like a natural detroit team, they lose that intensity on defense when they find that their offense is not pulling their weight. they had NEGATIVE 18 RUSHING YARDS THROUGH THE GAME. and since they ended up playing catchup for the remainder of it, the rush was no longer a threat. it was all passing all day. but in the lions defense, they only rushed it a few times, and then threw it to the wind all too suddenly with 4 consistent 3 and outs. the cards had the lions defense on the field most of the first half, primarily because the offense was doing NOTHING. and the defense came out with the same "bend dont break" attitude, kennoy making the interception, and then in typical fashion seen in other games, kitna gets us into the endzone in less than a handful of plays. thats how the lions are preductive. its all on turnovers and holding momentum for only a minute, and when you have that, a running game just becomes a sidenote. and you can see that the running game is still a sidenote, with NEGATIVE 18 RUSHING YARDS. seriously, thats pretty bad when rushing yards do nothing but hurt your totals yards, let alone time of possession. way to keep the cards defense guessing.

the lions lost their spirit i think. they may implode, especially since the next game is against the giants, who feel they need redemption, and the lions probably wont be ready. they may never be ready. the mentally strong on the defense may see this game as forshadowing in the future, because the lion's past does not reverberate in people's minds. i guess wait a week and see what happens, because i am beginning to believe we're going to have a 7-9 season in detroit on our hands, and that my friends will not make the playoffs.

it was wishful thinking. i am impressed by how quickly you were able to catch that though, and i know as an avid patriots fan, you were expecting me to say something of them, even with the bye week. but theres nothing to say about them, they will eventually be beaten probably against some garbage team, and the dolphins will have a perfect season. and the lions may not make the playoffs. which could harbor feelings of resentment towards my favorite sports franchise following next season.

uhm, my home team is the Patriots, and I don't need to say anything, they do it themselves everygame they play.

lol, TO on Dallas scored 4 touchdowns in a game, we can't have that... so Moss scores 4 in the first half.

YES! Go Jags once again!

Taylor ran for a season-high 104 yards and a touchdown, Josh Scobee kicked five field goals and the Jacksonville Jaguars thumped Buffalo 36-14 Sunday in a game more lopsided than even the final score indicated.

Taylor and the Jaguars (8-3) wasted little time reflecting on this one. They quickly turned their attention to next week's game at Indianapolis, which could be Jacksonville's last chance to win the AFC South.

Anyone else prepared for another half season of giants getting beat by everyone. They arent going anywhere with the games coming up @ Chicago and @ Philly

BlaizeYES
Nov 26, 2007, 01:47 AM
well chicago came back in this game pretty strong. the game itself was beautiful, it was the one time i watched an entire chicago football game. normally, it's the offense not performing up to snuff, and then having the game get away from them. but today, you saw grossman on that final drive. despite that horrible pass to bernard, he made a REMARKABLE catch to go into overtime. very impressive comeback.

with that, they will be in good position to beat the giants next week, as the giants are beginning to lose faith in eli manning once again, and the bears are beginning to form their defense like it used to be. chicago is in URLACHER CITY. or hester city, but naturally urlacher is better because hes a maniac. it isn't that i'm much of a believer in the bears, its just that THE GIANTS NEED TO LOSE again, since beating detroit.

now the eagles game was good. feely handled it well, donovan mcnabb couldn't have done any better than him except if he was playing for a meal of couple double cheeseburgas. they had all the momentum, could have easily put the pats out of their misery, but he threw that interception that changed everything. he didnt NEED that deep shot into the endzone. plus, he's not a very good quarterback. wear them down with short passes at least ang get into field goal range. and as nice as it would have been to see the patriots lose, it doesnt hurt my feelings all too much to see this game go the route it did. eagles are farther out of making the playoffs, which make me happy.

and all of the games tonight helped cushion the lions a little more on hopefully making the playoffs. and they have lost 3 straight to justify their 3 game winning streak earlier. but they still need to shake their negative spirits and strive to become winners once again. they were believing once. marinelli, MAKE THEM BELIEVE AGAIN. do not quit fighting, my boys. DO NOT STOP CHURNING THAT BUTTER, AND PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

forget about the whole "10 wins" prophecy by jon kitna. concentrate on just winning 3 of the next 5, and then we can call ourselves CONTENDERS. YES

They won like they use to win all the time, at the wire. It's hardly anything new. They won a superbowl that way... or did we forget?

the game wasnt about the score. i loved the game, because it was anarchy. nobody could play at all. i doubt the patriots would have fared much better in those conditions. just look at that punt that plopped into the ground from 30 feet in the air. STUCK. thats golden. you have to love the occasional game that has so many weather factors that makes the players win by just their own drive and intensity. well neither team really showed "drive", but it didnt matter, i love games where they are fighting against more than just the opponents.

on top of which, ricky williams is already injured. i refuse to hate ricky williams just because he was kicked out so many times from the nfl and is back once again, all because of something as retarded as smoking weed. it isnt even as if he was an addict.he did it because it made him "relaxed" to cope with his anxiety. he said hes just playing football now as a stint to make some money for himself, and the dolphins are desperate. and its not even like hes outspoken, he hates the media and is a genuinely good power runningback, regardless of what he did in yesterday's game. RICKY WILLIAMS FOR MVP.

only points in the game was from a last minute fieldgoal after a duff earlier. the score was perfect. the game was so horrible, it was awesome. no action, all slop, ALL AWESOME.

and yes, the patriots won on luck. the final drive by the eagles could have sucked away all 4 minutes left on the clock. and ate up some short yardage instead of going for the endzone right away. even if they couldnt have gotten a touchdown, they could have still went for a field goal and at least lost to the pats in overtime. up until that moment when feely made the critical error of trying to have it all on that deep bomb, they were controlling the game nicely. the defense was tiring out as the patriots didnt really have too many offensive drives in the first half. the eagles had the momentum, and the patriots were staring in the face of imperfection. what happened was basically like world war 2, and an american soldier named feely set off a nuke on his own team in the battle of the bulge. thats what happens when you try to be a hero. you're not john wayne. take the win with aggression AND intelligence, not just gutsy cowboy gunslingin

its alright to just admit that the patriots arent perfect, its not going to make you look like any less of a fan. you have the boston red sox and the celtics anyway. and its sunday night football, and the game was awfully close. i'm sure if it was the bills all over again, there wouldnt be the 16 million fans watching. the point i'm trying to make is for you to please not speak that badly about the steelers. those boys played a superbowl in my hometown, so i must always show a soft spot in my heart for them and JB THE BUS. but i can never show as much love to them as i must show the lions.

and for my closing remark:

-lions, i know that i get angry at you sometimes. i know i act like i dont care about you during tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. i know that i can be really hard and demanding on you. i know i curse the day we signed jon kitna from time to time as well. but never question my devotion to you, my dear friends. i just want you to make the playoffs. in my lifetime, i want to see the young detroit gentlemen make an appearance on the nationally televised wildcard game, even if you just turn around and lose. it doesnt matter if you do. i just want to cheer you like i cheer other teams in the nfl during intense games that mean something. i know i was 13 the last time you even saw the glimmer of postseason, and then i was still thinking barry was going to come back to us, and we wouldnt be able to make it unless he did. but i think we can... I BELIEVE

for those who missed the pats-ravens game, i pity you. as much as i hated to see the pats win, i cant even begin to explain how intense that game was. TALK ABOUT LAST SECOND UPSETS. even with the patriots winning, the game was entirely memorable... the pats have a knack for pulling off the upset. ONCE AGAIN for the SECOND WEEK IN A ROW, it was a backup quarterback making a fatal error in the 4th quarter to cost the game, but even with that, the drive with a little over 3 minutes left on the clock by the pats... the throwing of the yellow flag by scott after the touchdown to put new england ahead(LOL), the hail mary throw by kyle boller that ended in a completion 2 yards short of the endzone as time expired... jesus. for those who have to go into work tomorrow morning were drinking whilst watching that game like i was, share in my pain of having to wake up in a handfull of hours and not being able to fall asleep. even with the ravens losing, their effort was justified by pure entertainment by me and my fellow footballers in mine and my friend's apartment. JESUS, the game itself was miraculous. i will give the patriots credit, as well as the last-second holding penalty against gaffney and his eventual touchdown during that final pats drive... it was quite entertaining to watch, as well as emotionally draining with cheers and anger. BEAUTIFUL

patriots are still undefeated. i have a hunch that the dolphins will be the one to defeat them, much as they've done to the 85 bears and the 98 broncos... despite the dolphin's "perfect season" they already have going for them.what a way to end their losing streak, by destroying the patriot's winning streak and preserving the history of the 72 dolphins. how insane would that be? but in any case, the patriots are truely the team that you love to hate... even with them winning, it is still great entertainment. GOD SPEED

jackel, please do not become arrogant with your football team. i know you're a diehard patriots fan, but remember to stay humble. anyone can cheer the winner. its backing up the loser that makes everything worthwhile, and thats what i shall be doing in the coming weeks. even if they get the perfect season, they will not make the playoffs the following year. everyone will make sure of the one team they beat in their 1-15 seasons will be the time they dethroned the champions. look to the red wings: they lose to the stanley cup winner every year, and people from all over still broadcast to me how the redwings are their favorite team. i'll never really understand why. maybe your patriots will be america's team. or maybe it will always be the cowboys, possibly the giants. Uhm, I've always supported the Patriots, my dad had season tickets before I was even born. I've been watching the Patriots all my life, and watched so many crappy seasons with Bledsuck I can't remember. And it all comes down to the same thing in the end. A win, is a win, is a win. Doesn't matter if you win by 40 points, or 3. As long as you win the game. And everyone is already playing to beat them. Every team that has the Patriots left on their record, will be playing their best football against the Patriots. I sorta figured the last two games would've proven that.

DO not tell me to stay humble. I can cheer for my teams success as loud as I want, as I've sat by and watched them fail. If a team wins, I give them the credit they deserve. You'd be cheering just as loudly if the Lions were pulling games out and keeping an undefeated record going. And I'd give you credit for it too. Do not try to take it away, or shut me up.

I have no need to be humble, they pulled they game out, and proved why their still the #1 team in the league. It's not my fault the Ravens crumbled under pressure and helped to blow the game for themselves

i know. it was that last quarter kick that hanson missed(who is normally the most reliable player on the team) that he always makes. had he made that, the lions would have won. they knew it was all up to that field goal, and for some reason i thought the lions would have won that game, i thought they were before it even began... they beat them last year, and even the tone for this game was in the lion's favor with a balanced run and passing game. for some reason, whenever the lions find balance, they typically do well. but they have a bad habit of having to play comeback, which usually gets rid of the running attack. but i no longer get all too upset with the lions. this jsut isnt their year. i just hope that the game doesnt kill their morale and they begin to fall back down that black hole they've been plagued with for way too long. i hope they know that what they do is actually worthwhile. sometimes when you lose, you're still becoming better, stronger players. MARINELLI, DONT GIVE UP ON THE BOYS. BOYS, LISTEN TO YOUR MANIAC OF A LEADER. ONE WEEK AT A TIME.

and this isnt just wishful thinking, this is my belief: "wait until next year, they'll be much better".

well the thing is, the teams deemed as a threat are taken more seriously. The steelers were considered the Pats toughest match of the rest of the season, while the previous two weeks were suppose to be walkovers. While every team is preparing hard to beat the Pats, it doesn't appear the Pats are doing the same. To be honest, I'm most worried about the Dolphins game for that very reason lol

So its been a while so im gonna break down my teams and some of my suprises and disapointments.

Redskins: What can i say. first we lose our best overall player. Then we lose a hearbreaker to buffalo. Next on our rollercoaster season we get a huge win over the bears that keeps us in the NFC wildcard hunt. And then We lose Jason Cambell for the season wit a knee injury....Can we ever be injury free and just play a good game. haha im tired of them playin good halfs and then goin flat... just had to vent.

Texans... wow mayb mario williams was a great pick. i personally liked him but i thought we should have traded the pick. its okay though hes starting to become a force on the edge. Texans are a year or two away from seriously being a consistently good team.

Suprises.......

Cleveland Browns... WOW THEY ARE ACTUALLY 2 WEEKS AWAY FROM THE PLAYOFFS. Nice explosive offense and good return game. i just dont see the great defense. they can win shoot outs but in the playoffs u need a great d and a great runnin game. jamal lewis gives them a great running game but i dont see the defense right now.

New England... destroyed the steelers. i just thought it would be a closer game. justs adds more fuel to the i hope the pats lose a game fire.

Dissapointments......

Denver....what happened????

i think you've misunderstood the whole "wildcard" thing. regardless of the record, the winner of the wildcard slot and the superbowl is the one who beats the team who plans on going undefeated... if new england loses against the dolphins, they are immediately given full access to superbowl city

The snow, wind and chilly temperatures on a mid-December day in Pittsburgh made for perfect conditions on exactly the kind of day the Steelers love. Perfect, that is, for the weatherproof Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fred Taylor scored a decisive touchdown on a 12-yard run in the final two minutes while gaining 147 yards and the Jaguars withstood the bad weather and Pittsburgh's fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Steelers at their own game, winning 29-22 Sunday.

The Steelers (9-5), losing at home for the first time in eight games this season on a day seemingly built for them, fell into a tie with the Browns (9-5) for the AFC North lead after Cleveland beat Buffalo 8-0. The Steelers, who could have clinched the division with a win and a Browns loss, own the tiebreaker going into their Thursday night game at St. Louis.

Pittsburgh's last chance of tying it ended when tight end Heath Miller was stopped a half-yard short of a first down on a fourth-and-7 pass play from the Jacksonville 45 in the final minute.

The Steelers were down 22-7 after David Garrard threw three touchdown passes and looked beaten after getting nothing going offensively in the half, only to tie it by scoring twice in 7 1/2 minutes with the help of two missed extra points by Jacksonville.

Garrard was intercepted for only the second time in 303 attempts. Anthony Smith's 50-yard return set up Ben Roethlisberger's 11-yard TD pass to Hines Ward. After the Jaguars punted, Roethlisberger - who threw three TD passes despite playing with a sore shoulder on a windy day - hit Nate Washington for 30 yards and the QB's team record-setting 29th scoring pass of the season.

Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, lined up in the backfield, then found Holmes in the end zone for the tying 2-point conversion, but Jacksonville needed only eight plays to drive 73 yards for the deciding touchdown. Taylor had his fourth consecutive 100-yard game and is averaging 121 yards in his last six against Pittsburgh, which lost to Jacksonville for the third season in a row.

The weather seemingly couldn't have been worse for the Jaguars, who hadn't played all season with a gametime temperature below 62. It was 35 and dropping, with an already soggy field made even mushier by a snow shower 25 minutes before kickoff that briefly coated the field. Snow flurries returned to keep the field white during the second half.

Only these Jaguars aren't a typical, warm-weather team. Coach Jack Del Rio has built a power-running team that can pound out the tough yards in bad weather yet rarely turns the ball over, and the Jaguars illustrated their versatility on their first two possessions of the second half.

Jacksonville, leading 10-7 following Garrard's 12-yard scoring pass to Ernest Wilford with about a minute left in the first half, put together exactly the kind of a drive that might have been expected of the Steelers in a key, mid-December home game - 20 plays for 74 yards over nearly 10 minutes.

Garrard finished it off with a 3-yard TD pass to Reggie Williams on third-and-goal, after the Jaguars went 0-for-6 on third downs in the first half. On this drive, they converted three times on third down with 8 to go or longer, and twice on fourth-and-1 with Garrard keeping the drive going with a 3-yard QB sneak to the Steelers' 28.

The big plays were Maurice Jones-Drew's 17-yard run on third-and-10 and Jones-Drew's 8-yard catch on third-and-8 at the 9.

Then, after Pittsburgh went three-and-out, Garrard found Dennis Northcutt behind Smith - yes , him again - on the Jaguars' next play for a 55-yard touchdown that made it 22-7. However, the Jaguars missed the extra point on both scores, the first after holder Adam Podlesh bobbled a snap and the second when Josh Scobee missed into the wind.

Smith's ill-advised guaranteed win riled up the Patriots a week ago before their 34-13 rout of Pittsburgh, which has lost three of five.

This was the third consecutive game played at Heinz Field in inclement weather, including tropical-like rain that fell throughout Pittsburgh's 3-0 victory over Miami on Nov. 26 and left the field nearly unplayable.

i was working all morning so i didnt get to see much of some games. but i do know this... miami is the TEAM TO BEAT. OVERTIME CITY.

dallas lost, tony the romo wasnt doing that much apparently. and from what i hear, all of his interceptions came from trying to force passes to terrel owens. this is why i always got nervous with a parasite like TO. i'd get happy when TO gets involved because then he doesnt have to cry and get to the quarterback and strike a nerve. now i'm beginning to think that owens has finally gotten to romo, he's gotten into his brain, and has infected him. now 2 weeks ago when TO had his like 150 yard game, i realized something TO said in an interview that got me a little cautious. in response to an interception thrown in the endzone, he said, "yea, tony got off on the timing early and i didnt even see it coming, thats why the ball deflected off my hands and got it intercepted." why is it that romo is only throwing interceptions when it comes to the direction of terrel owens? it doesnt help that jessica simpson is in the crowd, so of course they have to keep saying, "JESSICA SIMPSON IS DANCING IN HER CHAIR. JESUS SHES BEAUTIFUL. JESUS. JESSICA SIMPSON." when anything happened, CUT TO JESSICA SIMPSON. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DARLING SOUTHERN BELLE.

i just hope romo didnt feel like he had to have a great game because "his girl was there." if thats the case, then he has been raped and violated by the media and the "image" more than the game. what ever happened to the humble leader? i hope he looks beyond terrell owens, because he's just a plague. go back to that relaxed, easy going persona that says "relax TO. you'll get the ball when you're open." dont force it to the guy like he wants. "give TO the ball." you cant do anything about it. he has a self-destructive personality and better not destroy another superbowl bound team like he did to the eagles. i actually like the cowboys.

now, for the lions.

the dream is officially dead. during the broncos blowout game against the lions, i read an article about how the only person that wasnt celebrating "the new detroit lions" team was nostradamus himself, matt millen. mitch album asked millen why he isnt celebrating his much disputed "new" franchise. matthew quietly replied quietly while sipping his glass of jack daniels, "we havent proved anything yet. i still have a bad feeling about this." my man mitch "the al-bomb" said that he didnt understand why matt was the only person that was not celebrating during the shaun rogers interception-touchdown. it was very strange..

dont take my quote completely out of context, but that is basically what he said, and half of my opinion is that he was sipping jack to add dramatic effect. but i remember thinking, "what is matthew talking about? is he trying to act as if 'he has much more to do for the lions' so he looks like a good GM? if thats the case, hes already wrong. let us all praise marinelli." but now i know, without a doubt, that matt millen knew all along.

think about it. the lions, as much as i hate to say this, are natural born losers. either they go big, or they dont go at all. and the problem is that most of the time they arent going at all. against dallas, we saw that intensity once again. they were "inspired," who knows. the cowboys fell victim to this similar illness last year against the lions. the lions love to play against the boys. the lions' main problem is lack of consistency and reliability. it has nothing to do with coaching, they just cant perform. if anything, it's frustrating to coaches because the players no longer have that burning desire to win.

and trust me, detroit is a football city. marinelli even said this city wants so badly to see a winning team. we wanted the redwings to win back in 97, and when they did, the city exploded, the entire city saw nothing but red. BEAUTIFUL. we can paint the town honolulu blue. why is it so hard for the lions to be motivated consistently without losing their inspiration? shaun rogers is in a "slump." after the broncos game, its like he has died. the team died because they began to think they had playoffs in the bag. they need to constantly push themselves to the point where they can ONLY WIN. they buckle under pressure as well. its just all the things that say "loser team." i still love them, i just wish i could make them believe in something for once. BELIEVE in the playoffs. dont just say it and think that the notion would be well-recieved. DO IT. i would love to see the lions make the playoffs but have to forfeit because everyone was injured in the final game of the season against the packers because they put so much effort in. that would be glorious.

but getting back on topic, even when they make plays work, it seems to be a lucky shot. i dont care what people say, kitna does not deserve that title of "captain" if his job is to win games. something about him doesnt seem like the playmaker. maybe its just my intuition on certain quarterbacks that try to hide how terrible they are or maybe its how he probably gotten sacked so many times he can no longer think, but most quarterbacks can look at a defensive formation, look at different cornerbacks and dissect their coverages and see how their play runs through. kitna just doesnt seem to have that ability. "courage" he may have, but hes not a natural born winner. i remember when kitna held his own against the bengals when the steelers won the superbowl. he did not look like he was playing badly. i think he got a touchdown, but it didnt matter. palmer was out, and kitna couldnt win the game even when they were up.

the lions are just not ready to win. roy williams and kevin jones already want out. i think they gave their very last bit of hope, although roy already has a problem with running his routes and not dropping the ball... but kevin jones is a bit better, but the lion's offensive line is just absolutely terrible. they say that the lion's line is falling apart because they pass all day and dont have the defensive line guessing all too much. well then what of hasselbeck and the seahawks? they publicly announced they were going to pass all day. i'll show you some stats:

matt hasselbeck------- pass attempts: 510 times sacked: 29
drew brees------------- pass attempts: 550!! times sacked: 12!!!!
tom brady--------------- pass attempts: 503 times sacked: 17
carson palmer---------- pass attempts: 522 times sacked: 17
brett favre--------------- pass attempts: 492 times sacked: 14

JON KITNA--------------- pass attempts: 497 times sacked: 49

so basically, almost every 10 pass attempts, kitna is going down. brilliant. LIONS, you need another rebuilding year almost immediately, my boys. either that or just blow your entire salary on linemen so you couldnt drive a tank through a wall of doom. i dont know. maybe at least when you're not trying, you can still get the ball off and really POUND THAT ROCK. MILLEN, you played football for the redskins i believe. i believe the redskins understood the formula, you were a linebacker and should know the importance of the front 7. i hope we could get urlacher as our GM and his mantra would be "we need a defensive line and some linebackers that know nothing but killing people. then we need an offensive line to make sure we never get killed. ever." why are you putting so much effort into wide recievers already? concentrate on your rungame and the passing could be magnificient.

that is enough on this matter. vikings are probably making the playoffs, and may be a force to be reckoned with

I have some more input.

Mario Williams and Fred Taylor should have atleast made the probowl. its a shame.

Just compare Reggie's injury ridden 2nd year to mario's 13.5 sacks (2nd in league) 2nd year. Mario was hurt all last year and everyone was calling him a bust. Look at him now!!

My skins are actually stil in the playoff hunt. That game against the giants was a good win. New York might want to invest in some new recievers and mayb even a new quarterback.

After this whole season my skins are still in the hunt. its amazing.

other than that nothin really big except for baltimore should take the dolphins spot as the worst team in the league. more like the worst offense when kyle boller is playig. when troy smith was in it was a differnt story.

BlaizeYES
Dec 20, 2007, 06:29 PM
yes, mario williams should have made the pro bowl. fred taylor i can do without, its all about popularity in the pro bowl anyway.

the worst part of the ravens is they are still a force to be reckoned with when they get all their ducks in a line. and i agree, troy smith should play. they always say that because of what he did in the combine and his height, he is a nobody. but he and my nemesis ohio state buckeys sure did well for themselves. they lost to florida because they got like a 2 month break before the bowl game or something, from what i remember anyway. but i dont really like college football to begin with, theres always a million different reasons to dispute any team. its terrible

skins are hardly in the race, they have to have either the giants lose both games or the vikes losing... vikings are pretty much the team most caught in the momentum, so watch the giants this week and you'll see if the skins can slide in there.

for the giants, it basically boils down to their next game against the bills. everyone knows they arent beating the pats, so they better come ready to play. and i hate to say it, but bills will probably beat them. the giants had that 7 game winning streak or something, and after that, its been nothing but mediocrity. thats how you know the difference between teams destined for success and the teams that cannot cut it. the second half of the year for the worse teams arent used to putting effort in and being consistent come november-december. giants have shown this all too often.

baltimore cant take the dolphin's place as the worst team in the nfl. i'm hoping they dont let this one win go to their head, and they come ready for the pats. PATS: go easy on this dolphins team. they are so unconventional and shitty of a team, they may just pull some tricky shit and take this unbeaten season

Pballer42
Dec 22, 2007, 12:42 PM
I totally agree with you about the giants. Eli just plays really bad in the second half of the season. And Plexico buress doesnt even practice during the week. how do u expect to have timing when ur best playmaker isnt even practicing. Did u see amani toomer drop that ball against the skins last week. that was the funniest drop i have ever seen in my life.

I think that troy smith shoulda been number 2 ahead of kyle boller. he just doesnt cut it. i was surprised that they didnt make the troy smith move sooner.

I think that the dolphins will attempt to pull and upset this weekend. They did beat the pats in 04. u gotta remember they made history with that win. the first 9+ loss team to beat a 9+ win team in nfl history. So you never know. I think it would be ironic that Bellichek would lose to the new Parcells led Dolphins.

Yea as a houston texan i think its a shame mario didnt make the pro bowl. as them being my hometown team i like to watch and go to as many of their games as i can. Every game i watched i saw mario dominate everyone he went up against.

And lastly i think my skins have a good chance to beat the vikings and make the playoffs. Ill bet we put 8 guys in the box like the bears did and make tavarris jackson beat us. Too bad we do have a better offense then the bears. i think if jackson plays like he did last week we will win the game no matter wat adrian peterson does.

Fred Taylor started right, cut back left, broke a tackle, waited patiently for a downfield block, then strolled into the end zone.

His 62-yard touchdown run on Jacksonville's opening play set the tone for Sunday's 49-11 rout of the Oakland Raiders.

Taylor finished with 111 yards as the Jaguars (11-4) won for the sixth time in seven games and clinched the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs.

So much for a letdown after last week's big win at Pittsburgh. So much for a Pro Bowl hangover. And so much for having to worry about winning at nemesis Houston in the season finale.

In fact, Jacksonville could use next week to rest several starters and prepare for the first round of the playoffs.

Coach Jack Del Rio even got a jump on that Sunday, pulling Taylor, quarterback David Garrard and several others in the blowout.

The Raiders (4-11), who suffered their worst loss of the season, finally turned things over to No. 1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell. Although it might help down the road, it was pretty much disastrous against Jacksonville.

Russell was 7-of-23 passing for 83 yards with a touchdown -- a 2-yard pass to Zach Miller with 6 seconds remaining -- three interceptions and a fumble.

I think indy, and jacksonville will rest players. and i think the seahawks and the bucs will also. i think new england will feel too much heat from the giants and will have to play their starters because coughlin will probably do the same.

yes. the browns really should be in the playoffs though. i don't think tennessee really deserves it as much. browns came from nothing and they have the weapons to do something. i've always been a jamal lewis fan, and i think brady quinn will be good when he probably starts next year. honestly, you had a 2 minute drill and waste it on 10 yard passes down the middle to keep the clock running, instead of trying to gun it down the sideline. if you have to go down the middle, make it a pretty legitimate 20-25 yard pass... but they can only get better, even without making the playoffs

ryno i pray to god your jags do beat them. what a horrible second half for the giants. that fourth quarter was it; i knew this was going to happen. that 2 minute drill by eli before the end of the half, i couldnt believe. usually eli is horrible near the end of the half and throws an interception because he tries to force it. but they came out strong. it was such a good game up until that second half. they weren't clicking like they normally were. 22 unanswered points by the giants. they DID THE SAME PLAY TO MOSS TWICE. the first one he should have caught, dropped it, but you had this feeling that since he was so open, something bad was about to happen. and it did. all they needed to do is halt the patriots during their second half run, but they couldnt do it. it still was a good game, but you could tell that they werent going to be able to hold up for long before they start wearing down.

and that they did.

i told people tonight that if the patriots lose, the colts would probably beat them in the playoffs because their drive would have been flustered, as well as the hangover from the previous loss. meanwhile, the giants would be on that rush of beating "the best team ever", and could possibly run in the playoffs pretty well. the giants are a hardly emotional team. if they could retain that emotion they had in the first half of this game, they could definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, but they are inconsistent... its only when they have that intensity they bring on defense that they win. after that kick return for a td, players were running on the field celebrating, even tom coughlin was out there... thats the attitude they need, the cowboys have that attitude. i believed this game to be the possible decider of a MANNING BOWL... this game could have been a chain reaction: put colts ready to an injured pats team, beat them, and eli being full of confidence and playing like the big brother... and eventually dethroning him as the superbowl champion.

last year i never believed that colts could or should win the superbowl again; them making the superbowl was a one time ordeal. but this year, like when the pats beat the chargers last year... colts are our only hope. maybe jags can win, take some of the pressure off indy. i dont know, but i'm a bit knackered now and need to get some sleep

yeah, I only managed to watch the last 4 minutes of the game unfortunately thanks to working, but man...I did hear the Giants were up 28-16 from another employee. I was like, well...will the Pats actually lose?

I have to hand it to NE, they have done the unthinkable that hasn't been done in 35 years. Grats to them. They have bent, but haven't been broken. As I was saying, I saw the Pats were up 31-28, and saw them in red zone territory. I was like, well...looks like they may not lose after all. Eli did a great job in the 2 minute drill. I thought the Giants took up unneccessary time though on about 5 plays if I remember right. But what's done is done I guess.

Well, I hope everyone's team does well this weekend btw and hope everyone's team goes to the post season. I hope the Saints can pull off this must win...I have to root for the Redskins and Vikings to lose also, but highly doubt that http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Meaningless game? Not to Andre' Davis and the Houston Texans.

Davis returned two kickoffs for touchdowns Sunday to lead the Texans to a 42-28 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (11-5), who rested many starters with their playoff spot secure.

The victory gives the Texans (8-8) a .500 finish for the first time in franchise history, and their 42 points are a team record.

Ron Dayne added two touchdowns and 88 yards rushing for Houston in his return after missing two starts with a sore ankle. He set a career-high with 773 yards rushing this season.

Davis' two returns came on consecutive kickoffs, which made him the first player this season to return two for scores in a single game. He's the seventh player in league history to achieve the feat.

He also had a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown.

His first return, a 97-yarder, came 15 seconds before halftime and put Houston ahead 21-14. He evaded the first wave of defenders before cutting to the outside, where he tightroped the sideline the rest of the way for the score.

He turned in the longest play in Texans history on the second one. Davis dashed 104 yards on the opening kickoff of the second half to make it 28-14. This time, he got a block from Charlie Anderson and then wove down the middle of the field before breaking away from the pack and racing to the end zone.

The Jaguars started Quinn Gray, who threw four touchdown passes, in place of David Garrard. Six other starters, including Fred Taylor and Paul Spicer, were inactive.

alright. well basically the regular season is behind us, except for the game thats going to start in like 10 minutes

here are my predictions:

WILD CARD:

AFC-

jacksonville at pittsburg: JACKSONVILLE WINS

(tennessee or cleveland STEAMROLLERS) vs san diego: if tennessee plays, CHARGERS WIN. if cleveland plays, CLEVELAND WINS

NFC-

washington at seattle: SEATTLE

new york giants at tampa: GIANTS(hopefully)

i think the most underrated teams are the jaguars and the seahawks. both are totally underrated, but are actually pretty damn good.

NFC LOOK:

seahawks versed the cowboys last year. now this will be the second year in a row that seattle is going to be playing cowboys in the divisional playoffs, and this is probably going to be the second year that the cowboys will lose to them... just a hunch. green bay will obliterate the bucs, but giants may have a little bit of a shot, but will probably still lose. i'm taking the seahawks in the superbowl most likely, as i dont really feel that dallas is all that mature of a team just yet to make it there. seahawks are very mature, they've always been underrated, and they could make it there again, and will probably beat the pack attack.

AFC:

jaguars are the most underrated of the teams. they're going to beat pittsburg, i have no doubt about that. jacksonville will give patriots a run for their money, and maybe since the pats have been coming from behind lately in games, the jaguars could win because of their strong rushing attack and taking time away from brady and the defense while eating up the clock. marty schottenheimer made that mistake last year when his chargers versed the patriots: not giving the ball to tomilson constantly to chew up the clock while they're ahead. we all know what happened that game.

the chargers are a good team, but would probably lose to the browns, and browns for some reason i could see beating the colts, making the conference game browns vs patriots, patriots would win. but i am still going to stick with indy vs pats in the AFC championship, and i see indy possibly beating them... actually, i'm praying to GOD that the colts win. but "possibly" winning isn't winning, and pats will probably win.

SUPERBOWL:

i am going to guess pats vs seahawks with pats winning, but that's just a guess. it's not what i want the superbowl to be, but thats my guess. we've all seen zany things happen in the playoffs so anyone could be somebody. its just 3 weeks, one game at a time, climbing that mountain for a superbowl ring. LETS SEE WHO BECOMES KING OF THE MOUNTAIN.

that win was hardly a battle to give the titans a playoff berth. how pathetic of a win, the colts could care less anyway since they were resting their starters. tony dungy just ran out the clock when the titans got the ball at the end, as if he didnt even want to give peyton's backup another shot and having another 3 and out and possibly injuring someone lmao. congratulations, titans. you didnt deserve to make the playoffs in the first place; the brownstains should be versing san diego next week. oh well, they'll be out in the first round anyways.

Leave my Cowboys alone! I expect a spectacular performance in the first round of the playoffs. Dallas reborn and all that. It will be amazing. Demarcus Ware will actually begin to glow, Tony Romo will teleport the football into the waiting hands of our friends TO and PC (and Glenn is back, apparently, but we'll see how that works out), MB3 will tear heads off as he rushes for 8,000 yards and it will be a glorious day indeed.

Lol Cowboys are done for. Tony Homo and his but buddy TO better realize that. I'd be fucking embarresed to be a Dallas fan becuase of TO. biggest fucking peice of shit in the NFL next to Bill Parcel as #1 peice of shit.

Now, my predictions for the first 4 games. Redskins take the Hawks easy. Hawks can't run the ball for the shit and Skins are looking damn good right now.

Giants and Tampa Bay makes me nervous. Eli Manning is starting to remind me of fucking Brett Favre taking so many Risks. We need to play smart especially with Tampas Defense. looking as tight as it is. But I'm totally going for my giants. I know what where capleble of and I think we can take them.

Jaguars versus Pittsburg, Jags hands down.

Titans and Charcgers, Going with the Chargers are this one.

NFC is the best division right now. Anyone can beat anyone!

lmao. i can see you've adopted the tony "the homo" romo usage as well. but keep in mind, that is not his proper name. it is "tony the romo" and nothing more, be sure to remember that.

and i wouldnt be EMBARRASSED to be a cowboys fan... they are still a good team, but the last month, they haven't been playing up to their potential. tony romo isnt doing so great, but i think he'll be able to put it together in the playoffs. its probably just like losing focus, much like he was doing last year. he'll learn in due time. he's a golfer, afterall. and every golfer knows the most important attributes you must have are patience and consistency. he'll find his groove, but it may be too little too late.

TO for the most part has been held in check as long as they dont let him explore his self-destructive side. if they make the superbowl, he will explore this side of him. remember on the eagles when they got to the superbowl, he played despite doctor's orders with the ankle injury, they lost, and then he took a shot at mcnabb and then began the decline of one of the most promising nfc franchises? could happen again.

aand the giants i think will beat tampa bay. now jeff garcia is a quarterback i legitimately dislike, i dont think he's going to do good at all. and hopefully, the patriots game was a positive step for the giants. it would have been nice had they won, but they had to build some confidence to go toe-to-toe with the best. hopefully though they dont have that "upset loss" hangover and go into the playoffs dragging their feet. giants i always have shared love for, but they wont make it all too far in the playoffs.

i still hope for the day of an ALL MANNING BOWL

Never in the Steelers' 75 seasons had a team beaten them twice in Pittsburgh in the same season. The Jaguars beat history -- and the Steelers -- despite a memorable fourth-quarter collapse that nearly cost Jacksonville its season.

Josh Scobee saved the game by kicking a 25-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining and the Jaguars came back after squandering an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter to beat the Steelers 31-29 on Saturday night in an AFC wild-card game that was wild in every sense of the word.

Jacksonville appeared to be done after Najeh Davenport's second 1-yard TD run of the game gave the Steelers a 29-28 lead with about six minutes remaining. But quarterback David Garrard, not a great runner, found a seam on a convert-or-else fourth-and-2 play and rambled 32 yards to the Steelers 11 with 1:56 left.

Garrard aided the Steelers' comeback by throwing two interceptions -- one less than he had all season -- only to come up with the play that may have saved the Jaguars' season.

"They kind of lost their gaps, they thought pass, I was able to get through there," Garrard said. "I just wanted to get a first down. I did enough to get into field-goal range and that was all I was thinking about."

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (29-of-42, 337 yards) put the Steelers into a deep hole by throwing three interceptions before halftime, then got rolling after he began lining up in a shotgun formation and threw touchdown passes to Santonio Holmes (37 yards) and Heath Miller (14 yards) in 4½ minutes of the fourth quarter to get Pittsburgh to within 28-23.

The Steelers rallied from 15 points down to tie Jacksonville late in the Jaguars' 29-22 win at Heinz Field on Dec. 16 but couldn't close the deal. They couldn't this time, either, even though Roethlisberger, shouldering the Steelers' offense virtually by himself with no running game, was 17-of-23 for 263 yards and two touchdowns just in the second half.

The Jaguars have beaten Pittsburgh four times in the last three seasons, including their 29-22 win on Dec. 16, and they appeared ready to do easily by building a 28-10 lead behind backup running back Maurice Jones-Drew's playmaking.

Jones-Drew, escaping Jaguars star Fred Taylor's shadow in a performance filled with big plays, scored on a 43-yard swing pass after one of Roethlisberger's interceptions and a 10-yard run that provided the 18-point lead. Jones-Drew's 96-yard kickoff return the first time Jacksonville touched the ball set up Taylor's 1-yard touchdown run and immediately answer the Steelers' opening-possession 80-yard touchdown drive.

"It was a tough way to get a win and we got one," Jones-Drew said. "It kind of got a little hectic when we were losing, but David made that big run at the end."

The Jaguars came in off six wins in their last eight games, while the Steelers -- missing five starters, including star running back Willie Parker -- limped into the postseason with three losses in four games and four in seven.

correct. they would have been better off with kerry collins in the game. but i don't like the texans anyway to tell you the truth. next week will be better

every game has a phrase capitalized that will sum up each game.

JAGS VS PATS. jags may make it just yet. topple the football monopoly. BELIEVE

INDY VS CHARGERS. i think chargers could win this one, but chargers cannot beat pats. indy could beat the pats though, i believe they are a close #2. so its a question of "what would be better in the long run." who should go on to make sure the pats don't win it? or maybe they've tweaked their team since the beginning of the season versing the pats, and they're looking to get them back after 2 straight losses to the unstoppable bellichick force? REDEMPTION

SEAHAWKS VS PACK ATTACK. i do believe winner of this game will be in the superbowl. both quarterbacks are battle-tested and mother approved in the final showdown. both have had agonizing losses as well. either one has a shot. packers will probably win though. both have been to a super bowl so they can shake the jitters easier, and both i think can give it another round against the patriots and can try their luck against what will probably be the patriots in the big bowl. end it the way brett got his first ring: blowing away the pats. OVERCOME

G-MEN VS COWBOYS. i really dont know about this game. romo hasnt been playing like romo. the boys havent been playing up to their caliber. giants are coming off the confidence of almost ending what could possibly become legendary. has eli manning really matured? does he have what it takes to verse the patriots again, or better yet, his own brother in an epic manning bowl? this game i would never miss because i want both teams equally to win, and its killing me inside. i still root for the giants, and if they are hitting "end of the season" momentum, i want them to go the distance and bullrush that championship. i've always like the cowboys, so this one is a coin toss. i still pick cowboys, as much as i want the giants to win this. OH YES GO JAGUARS

I am a jags fan born in jax but I do believe they can defeat The Patriots because they have the Run game.

Taylor and Jones-Drew will be central figures in Saturday’s game, as the Jaguars are expected to lean hard on a running game that would dominate time of possession and limit NFL MVP Tom Brady’s playing time.

and jags have a good recievers not great like the patrtiots but good enought to get 10 yards..

well now that my team is out of the playoffs ive actually looked into the other games. lol jp.

but anyway i think jacksonville has the best shot of potentially upsetting the pats. they controll the ball and run the ball very well. they also play excellent defense. but IF THEY FALL BEHIND TO TEH PATS, THE GAME WILL BE OVER FAST. jacksonville cannot outscore the pats. the best would be to keep brady and co. off the field.

Cowboys vs Giants: Well if Eli keeps playing at a high level i think the Giants win this one. Oh and if Romo can stop goin to hawaii wit jessica simpson 5 days before their game when he should be resting and practicing wit TO. I just really like the G Mens chances.

Seahawks and Packers:

jaguars really didnt have a shot to win after i saw the way they were playing on defense. everything was done very cautiously... they were afraid to take any chances, and for that, they lost. they should have known that just taking randy moss out of the game wasnt going to stop the pats... what about the 3 superbowls tom brady racked up without him? he's going to kill you with the short passes. that first sack to brady in the first few minutes i consider a fluke. after that, they didnt pressure brady, they were too scared the entire time. and its the one who hesitates always loses. and thats a life lesson as well: DONT LET FEAR CONSUME YOU. The 2007 season will forever be remembered as the year the Jaguars found their quarterback, and Saturday’s 31-20 playoff loss to the Patriots only served to underscore Garrard’s emergence.

In a head to head battle against the best quarterback in the game, maybe the best quarterback to ever play the game, Garrard more than held his own. Had it not been for two dropped would-be touchdown passes, the outcome may have been different.

Well, no; that’s an exaggeration. Brady was unstoppable. That was the difference in the game. Brady was unstoppable; Garrard was nearly unstoppable.

Go back to each team’s opening drive of the game. On a fourth-and-one play at the New England 43, Garrard threw a 34-yard completion to tight end Marcedes Lewis. Three plays later, Garrard threw a touchdown pass as he was being pulled down, and the Jaguars led 7-0.

How did Brady respond? As you would expect. On fourth and five from the Jacksonville 40, Brady completed a 14-yard toss to Randy Moss for a first down, and four plays later Brady found tight end Ben Watson for a score that tied the game at 7-7.

It was that kind of game. Brady went ahead 14-7, and then Garrard tied the game at 14-14 before halftime. Heading to the locker room, the Jaguars felt great. They were tied with the undefeated Patriots and the Jaguars had a quarterback who was standing toe to toe with the incomparable Brady.

You know the rest. It didn’t turn out well. There were those two drops, one by Dennis Northcutt at the two-yard line and one by Matt Jones on an alley-oop in the back-left corner of the end zone.

That was it. You can’t drop would-be touchdown passes and expect to beat Brady. Frankly, you can’t expect to beat Brady even when you can catch touchdown passes.

All of that is meaningless now. The Jaguars’ excellent season ended in Gillette Stadium, against a team nobody can beat. We’ll see if that holds true.

What’s important to the Jaguars going forward is they have their quarterback. They have the man to lead them into their future. Garrard, clearly, is their man.

“I think I established that I can play when the lights come on. I relied on my skills and my preparation. We showed we can score points,” Garrard said.

Garrard completed 22 of 33 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a 100.3 passer rating. He also rushed three times for 14 yards and lost a fumble.

Not bad, right? Yeah, but those stats aren’t indicative of how well he played. The interception was on fourth down at desperation time. His choices were to either throw an interception or turn the ball over on downs.

Now add in the two drops as completions and you’ve got a quarterback with four touchdown passes and more than 300 yards of passing. Yeah, he was that good.

Garrard is the good news going forward. Every team has to have a quality quarterback to consider itself a championship contender, and the Jaguars have one.

“You have to find a quarterback to advance in the playoffs. David showed tonight he’s ready,” Del Rio said.

At some point during the upcoming offseason, the Jaguars have to make a decision on whether or not they’ll seek to sign Garrard to a long-term contract. He has a year remaining on his current deal.

Have they seen enough to make him the official future of the franchise? That’s the big question heading into the offseason.

Jags are a scary team. I think they had one of the best chances in the NFL to take down the patriots. I watched a majority of the game from start to finish and it was a real tight game. The Jags QB is a freaking beast, looks like he can get the ball in the air in any position. That one throw he made for a touchdown right as he was hit in the back and was going down was sick!

offensively, i wouldnt say they did bad. they did concentrate much more on passing than letting their runningbacks pound the rock. i say they were being too cautious, but thats primarily the concern of their defense. they didnt give up "the big play," but they allowed themselves to constantly get hammered with shorter completions... the game was lost because of their defensive scheme that game. aggressive, yes... but ravens had the formula down. the patriots are human, yes, but only when you PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE.

funny thing is, thats exactly what i was saying to people 2 days ago. you may have noticed me stating that the giants must beat the cowboys recently... primarily because the giants will lose to the packers. if the chargers were smart, they would have taken the fall for the greater good, and allow the colts a second shot at beating the patriots. but instead, chargers think they can win, so all hope goes to the NFC. i wanted the G MEN to win because they're going to lose against the packers, and the packers MUST get to the superbowl. brett favre MUST show the "veteran" players on the patriots how a REAL WAR HERO IS BUILT. thats all we have. every other team right now has fallen by the patriots once before, and the pack may have a small chance to win it since they have not been humiliated yet

ryno, that COULD happen... and i wish they could, but i dont hold onto too much hope with them. if there was a blizzard in foxboro midday on sunday, then it'd just turn into a straight running game like what you saw with the packers... and the chargers could win that. if that happened... then yes, chargers could probably be superbowl champs, and that'd be a nice thought: ladanian to stop whining at phillip rivers all the time

Giants to the SuperBowl

San Diego would've won, but if they can't score a touchdown while you are in the red zone you are pretty much screwed. :/

To the New York Giants: GET REVENGE!!! BEAT THE PATRIOTS!!! (Then they'll set off a NFL record, a back to back brother superbowl win.)

well just think about it long and hard:

-the only thing standing in the way of the patriots to go down is history is a group of ragtag players and a quarterback who is some type of black sheep of the manning family. that just sounds so improbable for them to beat the patriots.

and watching the game, i knew the packers were the only ones who could beat the patriots, but jesus god, eli manning in a superbowl. out of all people, ELI. peyton better suck it up that hes not there becasue it very well could have been an ALL-MANNING BOWL finally. but instead, he must take his playbook over to eli's house and sit down and have a long talk with eli. with peyton and eli's powers combined, they could TOPPLE TOM BRADY

NFC all the way... The two teams I hate the, division rivals and Tom "im over hyped by the media and my offensive line is doing alllll the work" Brady with his bunch of crack heads. Except Randy Moss and Stallworth, those are my boys. Plus they Can't score on my boys Lito and Sheldon, so its all okay http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

even without that win, Tom Brady was already forever enshrined in NFL history.

Congratz to the giants, they played a better game than the Patriots. It's not the first time this year a Pats opponent outplayed them, just the first time the other team came out a victor. Fact is, all you people are assholes for hating on them so much. You can ask any of my friends here, I was very gracious in defeat. I even clapped everytime the giants made a good play. The biggest problem with this country is we always root for the underdog... even in something like the War on terror. Yes, rooting for the giants has an overarching symbol on how this country approaches everything.

it was one of the best superbowls I've seen in years, and that matters way more than anything else.

Good for the ol' Jags coach Tom Coughlin, and good for the big blue wrecking crew. BTW, I was anticipating Carl's rant after the game than the game itself. Carl from ATHF btw, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, go to adultswim.com and witness the hilarity (it's the Clip of the Day).

I'm so happy that the Giants won. I wish it could've been the Packers in that situation, but they beat us and the Patriots well. I really didn't want a cheating team to get 19-0, and it's even more satisfying that they lost in the Super Bowl.

BlaizeYES

it definitely was satisfying, to say the least. every person that knows me knew that for the past 3 months, every sunday, i'd say, "we have to watch the patriots, THEY MUST BE STOPPED." and everyone else began getting caught in the momentum. everyone i knew felt the same way... and with every sunday, even non-football fans wanted to come over, socialize, and watch the game at get-togethers. it became a genuine "love to hate" relationship with the patriots with everyone, and they were truely a hateable team unlike the 98 broncos, 98 vikings, 06 colts, or any other team off the top of my head that i lived through when they were discussing "a perfect season." i loved hating them, i always wanted to see them lose, and i always wanted to see eli manning win... but i never thought it'd be quite like this. although i would have preferred an ALL MANNING BOWL for eli to dethrone peyton, this game may have been waht i wanted all along.

the last quarter made up for everything else that the patriots consumed and destroyed throughout the season. they were ruining football. everyone that was a patriots fan was either from "mass" or just knew nothing about football at all, and it really showed the right and true ending to a story the way an educated person would like to see it. i was at work today, thinking about last night, and a smile went on my face. i drank a little as well last night, yes, but the image is still clearly engraved in my head of plaxico's catch and the anarchy that ensued.

i called it after eli got his first touchdown to put them up by 3: i said, "brady is going to retaliate, get a touchdown, and this is going to be in eli's hands as to if he's matured." the look on eli's face during that final drive was unlike a usual eli manning expression. it was a look of conviction, determination, and retardation... everything except fear. it was if he became a robot, like his brother. even that winning touchdown, if you remember his face(for those with HD televisions), his expression was actually sort of creepy. but i must admit: i thought eli would buckle under pressure and probably throw an interception on his last rallying attempt... i really didnt think that he was mature enough yet to do something that carries THAT much weight. but that march down the field was only building more intensity with every improbable first down. suddenly, everyone was beginning to get caught in the moment. that helmet catch by david tyree on that bomb fired by eli after getting thrown around... jesus. something just told you that they had to win it. with my fists clenched so tightly to the point where no air was escaping from my grasp, the belief that a dream in sports would come true was becoming a reality. an epic finish to a brilliant story fueled by hate for an organization and hope for a confused, goofy little manning would reach its completion. i just wish i didnt have to work this morning, or else i would have probably been dead last night.

that game was exactly what i needed last night in my favorite sporting event. theres nothing i love more than a good story, and for a story to end where it just makes you feel amazing afterwatds. and regardless what anyone may say, thats exactly how it should have ended. with patriots fans, you can tell they are angry because they try saying, "so what, i dont care. we still have 3 superbowls with brady"... but thats all they can say, as they know that in this story, they have become nothing more than the bad guys that have been subdued. they have no arrogance left in their bloodstream, except for previous accomplishments that mean nothing in the present. their own "mastermind" bill bellichick ran off the field, deserting his "team" because he is a poor sport. and everyone got on joe gibbs for running off the field immediately following his game against the patriots.... bellichick left his men on the field while he ran and hid in the locker room. SO PATRIOTS, I SAY TO YOU TODAY: act as if you're proud of the giants. act as if you didnt really care for the 19-0. because you all know how badly you wanted it, and your perfection was sucked away by your OLD MAN DEFENSE and a little inconsistent kid that "was" having an identity crisis because of his brother. or better yet, patriots fans, try to dissuade the attention to something else and say "i feel bad for the giants, the patriots are getting more attention when they lost." i don't feel bad for the giants, i feel bad for the patriots... they are humiliated. tell junior seau who looks like a monkey that he's never winning a superbowl. tell moss to go back to oakland and tell the owners he's feeling "depressed and cant play good football." tell bruschi to have another stroke. tell tom brady to come back to his college alumni state and play for the lions. tell bellichick that you're an arrogant, overconfident, self-proclaimed genius that cant face a team that actually has heart. and TELL THE PATRIOTS FANS THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER GIVEN THE RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT FOOTBALL. YOU NO LONGER CAN USE YOUR TEAM AS YOUR FALSE SENSE OF CONFIDENCE IN SOMETHING COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO YOUR OWN LIFE. NOW COMES REALITY, PATRIOTS FANS, AND YOU GUYS ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING. if you want, go wait for the nba playoffs and hate my detroit pistons, i dont care. i have no "pride" with any team. but you no longer are given complete immunity in football discussions due to that sense of "pride" and your "record." your ego has been shattered, live with it. nothing is worse than someone that thinks they're a better person just because their team is doing well. its irritating.

and with that, i'm glad i lived through this amazing football season. THANK YOU ELI, THANK YOU FOR SAVING THE ONE SPORT I LOVE.

and PATRIOTS AND ANY PATRIOTS FANS, let your wounds heal. try to shy away from football conversation for a while, because you have nothing special. theres no team to hide behind anymore.

SO LETS MOVE ONWARD AND UPWARD. START NEXT SEASON IMMEDIATELY. LETS GO DETROIT LIONS. MARINELLI, TAKE NOTE FROM THE GIANTS AND ELI: DISCARD KITNA, GO WITH A YOUNGER QB. GET MCCOWN BACK, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO MADDEN 2007, JOSH MCCOWN WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN PEYTON MANNING IN 2010 IF YOU SIMULATE A FEW SEASONS. THE CURSE OF BOBBY LAYNE WILL HAVE BEEN LIFTED AND WE WILL RISE AGAINST AND WIN A SUPERBOWL

... but we will talk about that next september
