Feel sorry for the people who paid $500-$600 bucks for it.

Nah. Feel sorry for anyone that bought one. 9 out of 10 people have already returned theirs.

I feel sorry for anyone who bought one in the first place, cheap or not. They just made themselves a prime target for every pick-pocket in a mile radius.

Maybe it's because no one wants one? It lacks several basic features that make a phone a phone.

Like what? I thought they were a huge success.

From my understanding they're very underwhelming. They lack basic features like Voice Mail.

The iPhones are the S-ranks of the cellular industry. It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to grind a Motorola or a Nokia to +10, but everyone wants an iPhone because it looks cool.

iPhones were cool in theory; but I don't want anything to do with a phone that doesn't flip open. I'm very protective of my stuff, and an iPhone seems like too expensive a phone without enough protection for the screen when it's not in use.

It is underwhelming, but it does have voicemail. That was one of their big selling points.

People forgot that a phone is supposed to go *ring* and have the ability to call people. That's all my phone does and all it ever will. The only extra I might eventually get is something that can snap pictures (more compact than lugging a camera around) but that's pretty much it.

Texting? Custom rings? Faceplates? Internet connection? Yahoo!? I don't need any of these fuckin' gizmos. Unfortunately, not a single phone company makes a cellphone that remains a cellphone anymore.

It dropped 200$ because it doesnt have a camera to snap...

Like... calling people?

That might put a dent in its sales :/

That might have put a dent in its sales if it were true. I'm pretty sure the reason that people returned the iPhone had more to do with CingulAT&T than the product itself.

Of course, but people may have still bought it just because it was an apple product and they thought it made them look stylish.

Sounds like the PS3. "Here's the 20GB and 60GB models. But in 8 months we'll stop shipping the 20s, and then the 80s while keeping the price the same but reduce the price for the old model to clean up stock." Still, most of the cost for that silly thing (iphone) is the solid state drive and touch screen as those are still expensive right now kind of like how the PS3 is expensive from the BluRay and Cell.

Didn't they just accounce a new iPod that's essentially an iPhone, but without the whole "phone calls" thing?

The iPhone sucks because its a smartphone (in name only) that doesn't have any software because Apple has closed development. No one wants to develop for iPhone because devs don't want Apple's hand up their ass. Smart devs work on Symbian and WM platforms.

So? The bulk of the price is in the contract fees anyways, lol. Anyone that has the "new" AT&T or any phone company knows that they bribe you with gifts and "price cuts" to stay with their service. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Personally, I couldn't care less about an iPhone or any expensive phone... I hate talking on one anyways.

If it isn't a flip phone, I'm not interested anyway. Hell if my keys or my money are going to scratch my screen.

Well, Apple is offering $100 (store credit) to early iPhone adopters. Yay!

That hardly counts as compensation.

For everyone who was mentioning the durability of the iPhone, I watched a video of a huge scratch test. The iphone was dropped, put into a bag with keys and shaken vigorously, and some other stuff, and it came out with the screen in good condition.

Better than "oops, sorry" and getting no compensation.

How so? All they did was give you half of the price dropped, which you can only spend on more Apple merchandise. I guess they could use it towards one of those eight core Mac Pro's. It should cover... 1/100th of the cost. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_sleepy.gif

Maybe they'll make an iPhone shuffle.... press the button and it randomly dials people...

Honestly the iPhone looked more like a gizmo to me and less like a real phone. I see more and more NON-gizmo phones actually doing MORE than those gizmo phones that are supposed to be everything and fail at most of it.

Wow. My books for this semester cost less than that thing. I'm just glad that I have a phone that I can make calls on and that I can put an alarm on. I love you simplicity of function and design.
