Definitely a cult classic. I haven't seen it in quite a while, I could almost watch it again; but then I could almost do anything again if I put some effort into it.

Dont get me wrong, it IS a good movie, but that said, saying "Its the best movie ever" makes you sound like a tool. Realistically your simply subscribing to a 2 year old fad.

there are quite a few best movies ever. but ME being THE NIDRAMAG (KATZ) makes it a realistic view >.>

Great film, seen it about 6 times, the most recent being a few months ago.

Avoid the director's cut though.

I made the mistake of watching the director's cut first. As I lack a machine to erase what I had already seen (save for a hammer to the head), I like no version of Donnie Darko. I don't dislike the movie, I merely have no feelings for it.

I have a friend who worships the movie (both versions). I don't understand why. Perhaps someone like Nidra or even someone who grew up w/ the original version can help answer my question; what about Donnie Darko is soooo damn special?

I assuming Firo means that the Director's Cut removes any subtlety or ambiguity in the original, instead opting to make everything obvious.
