One of the best RPG series I have ever played (1 and 5 were awesome).

Breath of Fire III was the peak of the series... IV was pretty good, as well, but V was a bit of a let-down.

The battle system was great and all, but the fact that it heavily discourages using the thing the entire series has always been about, was really off-putting.

I was a huge fan of the first two, and IV looked good from what I've seen. I suppose I should try to get three and four, assuming I can find them...

In my opinion BoF 4 was the best in the series. The awesome Divine Dragon-Spirits, the Dragon Summons, the beautiful and unique art-style, excellent music, a cameo from a classic BoF character, and most of all Fou-Lu was awesome.
I love his dark dragon form and the Dark Wave attack.

I'd really love to see a direct sequel with Fou-Lu as the main character. He had a lot of potential for further growth as a character.
BoF V's art style was so terrible aesthetically to me and repulsed me, so I didn't bother playing it. BoF I, II, and III are all excellent as well.

From what I've heard from many is the general consensus is that Dragon Quater's gameplay was terrible.

1 has always been my favorite. Ever since the SNES days (I have it for both SNES and GBA). I liked the fact that the Dark Dragons did not just attack one city or clan, but every city and every clan, and they had some halfway decent ideas for attacking them.

2... I did not like. The music was annoying and I thought the plot was full of holes.

3, although I only played it once myself, was pretty good in my opinion. I liked the fairy thing. The story wasn't that bad, and the characters were memorable.

4, I do not know that much about. Granted, my brother and I own every BoF game, but we haven't played 4 that much. Looks nice, though. Kind of a BoF3 feel.

5, while the story was short, and you cannot use the dragon power too much, I thought it was cool. Nice new battle style, stocks, SOL system, and the story were awesome, in my opinion.

I liked every Breath of Fire except 2. But then again, that's the only one I havent seen get finished. My fav's in order.

BOF3-First one I played, the most memorable
BOF4-Saw it played through, enjoyed the gameplay. Missed out on the ending though. I'll probably play through it one day myself.
BOF5- Sucked how you couldnt use the D-Factor until damn near the end of the game. But the good ending redeemed it for me. I was shocked that when I finally went over 100% thinking I would die on the last boss, that it was gonna be game over.
BOF1-Decent for an RPG of its day
BOF2- Didnt care much for the dragon ability takes all of your MP just for one attack.

Release part 6 already.

I really like BoF II's Katt. She felt like a stray cat, following you around because she didn't have a home. Not to mention she's one of the only agile characters I've seen that didn't suck (A rarity).
Nina was pretty neat too.

I've actually only played Breath of Fire II, I liked the whole thing about building a town a fusing things to create different classes for your characters. Do they have that for each character in the later games? (By the way, the third one looked awesome.)

Different classes, not really. But you can, in BoF3, create custom dragon forms (as shown in the vid I posted). You can also build fairy towns in 3-5.

1 was more serious minded.

Edit: I take that abck about the different classes. In BoF1, Karn can fuse with other characters to make uber forms.

Breath of Fire 3 is my favorite game in the series. As Kent said, it was the peak of the series.

Breath of Fire 4 is my second favorite. I was initially dissapointed with it sine I was comparing it to Breath of Fire 3 but it has grown on me somewhat.

Breath Of Fire 5 is a Love It/Hate It game that has split Breath of Fire fans down the middle. Great story, okay combat, repetive dungeons. Then there is controversial fact that using your dragon gene powers kills you. It's like an FPS where your'e not alowed to shoot anyone.

Breath of Fire 2 was an okay game at the time however I never really liked the story. Superior Graphics and gameplay lift it above Breath Of Fire 1 but the 2 games are more or less similar.

I never completed Breath of Fire 1. I lost interest about a third of the way through. Shame really since I hear it has a veryy good story.

I'm a big fan of the breath of fire series.

IV by far is my favorite but strangely i loved V too. I know it was a bit different from the other ones but the story was VERY,VERY good (which is hard to find in games nowadays). (I guess thats what kept me goin)

i am paranoid with 360 lately. Some of the games i played on it froze.... >_>; Like Dead or Alive 4, Elder Scroll 4, Samurai Warrior 2, and that is all i think. Why dont you try out PSU? Its a great game...probably better than PSO. Plus the expansion for PSU is almost out.

I tried PSU. I didn't like it. So I stick with PSO... and Zelda... and Breath of Fire... and Final Fantasy... >_>
