View Full Version : Phantasy Star Universe Item Database Update

PSO-World's Phantasy Star Universe Item Database received a fairly large update earlier today. The goal of the update was to improve the presentation of the existing material and get ready for the release Ambition of Illuminus. Here is an overview of the new features and changes:

Search:
-Search results can now be restricted to a specific item category.
-A "Picture" column has been added to the Search results. If an item has a preview picture attached to it, it will show up in that column.

Front-Page:
-Item Subcategories have been introduced. Simply click on the "Expand" link beside an item category (Javascript required) and a table with subcategories will appear. Click on a subcategory and you'll be taken to a listing showing items only belonging to that category.
-The number of "Latest Pictures" has been increased from eight to twelve.

Item Listing:
-Sort Options have been replaced with a Filter bar. You can use it to restrict listings to a specific mode, rarity, and gender. To list all of items for a particular category/subcategory, choose "All" under the Rarity filter.
-Weapon and item listings are now more detailed stats. For example, weapon listings now list the major stats for the weapon type.
-Clothing and Cast Parts listings have been replaced with a gallery of pictures. This will make it much easier to find specific pieces of clothing.
-The new gallery mode now applies to Remodeling Tickets, Room Decorations, and PM Evolution Devices.
-Non-gallery mode tables are sortable (Javascript required). Simplay click on the header cell of the column you want to sort by.
-On the Weapon, Line Shield, and Slot Unit listings, you can compare items in greater depth by checking the appropriate items and clicking the "Compare" button. This will take you to the Comparison script.

Item Detail Pages:
-A tabbing system is now used to organize and present mode information. Simply click (Javascript required) on the Mode you want to see and you'll see the stat/finding information associated with it. This tabbing system also makes use of cookies. If you filter by a particular mode on the Item Listing, the relevant tab on this screen will be shown as the default.
-Availability information has been moved from "Notes" to a new "Availability" line.
-Formal support for Item Combinations has been added. If an item has a set mate, a table will be shown for the relevant mode.

Misc. Notes:
-Items that are currently unavailable on the regional servers will be displayed in Italics.
-The Item DB now uses the in-game names for item stat values (Att, Acc, etc...).
-The Store Prices webpage was updated so the correct rarity value will be displayed corresponding to the Mode the store is in.
-A Req. column has been added to the Comparison script.

I think all of the currently "Unavailable" items have been marked. If you happen to see one that was missed, post here and it will be updated.

Since this update involved a fairly large reorganization of the database backend, there still maybe a couple of bugs. If you see something that looks weird or could be improved, feel free to complain/post suggestions here.

In the item database menu,
http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/
when I expand the cast parts section, and click the "Leg Parts" link, it leads me instead to torsos.

Just thought ya'll should know.

Eeee, if I'da seen the end of the original post, well, yeah...

the new database is awesome... more pics and the "fastlinks" on the startpage ...very good idea^^ but i got an idea...for compare links...maybe the grinded stats would be useful too....cause compare a normal kubara wep with a normal wep....the stats of the kubara are as worse as the normal...but a grinded kubara wep can be better then a normal, example. shigga bines and shigga bomac .a grinded bomac hab 126 att (bines 131) but the pp are better 1661 vs. 1406 if u can see that when u compare some weps, that would be helpful.

before i forget it. thanks for the new database, really...good work^^

The Stat Comparison (http://www.pso-world.com/items-psu-compare.php) page does allow you to compare items for an arbitrary number of grinds. Also, any items that you select to be compared from the regular item listings should include grind stats.

Thanks for the kind words. We're hoping that people will find the update useful.

oh my fault...i never see that, was blinded by the database^^ thx , and by the way....i know some stats for some grinded weps...

Much like the CAST parts mistake, I found the same for the expanding units thing

Head goes to extra
Extra goes to body
Body goes to arm
Arm goes to head

And I thought the old database was impressive. This one is even better!
Perhaps an idea for the future - add line shield slots as a filter on the item comparison page, or add the slot info on the main line shield page next to the stats.
Awesome work Ryna! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Minor update:
-Front-page slot unit links have been fixed.
-Fixed a bug that was causing "Extra" to show up for certain line shields
-The grinding information table is no longer displayed if there is no valid grinding info for a particular mode/item combination (Example: Online S-Ranks).

We've been experimenting with ways to display slot unit information on the item listings. It was found that displaying more than four stat columns crowded the table and made it harder to read at its current width. So it is definitely something we want to add, along with a filter option.

Yeah, this new database is much nicer, and I can do any item comparison while I'm there, which is good to have.

Great work on the database Ryna!

The bug with for the Save units has been noted. I'll try to fix it this weekend. You can still locate the units using the Search function.

Updates for Today:
-Line Shield Item Listings - Slot unit information is now displayed using HABE abbreviations. Also, a slot filter has been added. Using it will list all of the line shields that have a particular slot space available. To make room for the slot information, the END column was removed.
-Photon Art Subcategories - Fixed a bug that was causing all photon arts to be displayed for each subcategory. Changed the default ordering for photon arts. They are now displayed by weapon type instead of rarity.
-Item Details Page - Fixed a bug where the item details page wouldn't show up for certain Photon Arts.

The Phantasy Star Universe Item Database (http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/) received some minor upgrades earlier today. Here is a brief overview:

-Fixed a bug where certain slot units were not being displayed.
-Added the following subcategories to Weapons: Madoog, Shadoog, Whip, and Slicer (Madoog and Shadoog maybe renamed later).
-Added "Top and Bottom" subcategory to Clothing and Cast Parts. This will include clothing sets that use the shirt and pants slots (no shoes).
-Most subcategory item listings now have icons beside the type name. Thanks to Dhylec for helping with the icons.
-Versioning support has been added to pictures. When a picture is being displayed in the image viewer, the icon of the version it came from will be displayed.
-Item combination stats are now automatically calculated.
-On item display pages, the boss box, area findings, and enemy findings tables have been consolidated into a single table. This helps conserve space and improve readability.

If you experience any problems or see something you'd like to see added, post here and it'll be addressed.

How about a database update history list?

I know there are recently added lists with pictures but maybe there should be a list that shows the entire history of what's been added. Reason why I asked is because sometimes I miss out on some days when the Database is updated and as a result I miss something that was new. The newer, new stuff bumps off something I miss basically.

I'm not asking for anything complex just something simple.
Put a small link under the name "Latest Additions" in the middle collum. Something like "Database History" or something.

When you click the history link it would show you the log of everything that has been added over time. =3

I've been thinking of coding a more detailed "Updates" page. It would contain dates/times and links. I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. Most of my time lately has been dedicated to gathering information and getting the display code in order.

Anyways, here is an overview of the updates for today so far:
-Updating version information for several existing 11*/12* S-Rank weapons
-Added several new 12* S-Rank pictures
-Added AoI online Remodeling Ticket and Room Deco item information.
-Created a new "Music Disc" category
-Added information from the Volyale Casino.

Thanks for the rarity bar. I'll see if I can find someplace to use it. Generally, I prefer using a number/icon designation since it takes up less space.

We're in the process of adding AoI information right now (example: look at the new room decos). It is going to take a while to add the bulk of the new items. I've been thinking of adding a "Version" dropdown to the filter list so a person could choose to only list new items. Would anyone like to see such a feature?

I think this would be nice for anyone that is using PSU 1. Not really for AoI users, since it includes everything PSU 1, right? Although someone might be curious just on what they are missing out on.

I made some minor changes to the database this morning. Here is an overview:
-Added ZodiacNKnight's 5th-tier picture. It will show up for items with rarities greater than 13 stars.
-Added a "Version" filter to all categories. The default is "All".
-Changed the "Filter" button to "Go" and removed the word "Stars" from after "Rarity" to make room for the new version filter.
-Uploaded new weapon icons (Thanks Dhylec!)
-Changed the Brand for Muzzlefeveric

When using the version filter for AoI items, I would recommend setting the rarity filter to "1 to All". Most of the items have unknown online rarity values at this point.

Concerning the PSU item database, for the photon arts.. There is a section of card photon arts for the PSU offline version, but where do they sell cards in the PSU offline? Maybe, I had overlooked it, but on the other hand, there is no cards listed in the weaponry database for the PSU offline.

Since Ambition of Illuminus is introducing several new technical types of decorations, subcategory support for room decorations has been added to the Item Database. Here is a breakdown of the new subcategories:

Chair - Characters can sit on these decorations.
Display Stands - Small decorations can be placeson these items. This category includes tables, display cases, and stands.
Interactive - Players can interact with these items. The interaction may include a sound being played or the character performing some physical action. The interaction may also be passive depending on your actions in the room.
Normal - No special properties are associated with these types of decorations.
Poster - These decorations can only be displayed by placing them on the wall.
Present Box - Players can place items in present boxes and drop them off in another player's room.
Small - These decorations can be placed on the floor, shelves, and display cases.

The classification of some room decorations may change as new information comes to light.

There's a few incorrect set bonuses listed in the database. While most do get a 25% boost there are a few exceptions to this rule; namely the Gigush, Nafli-zashi, Storm, Gur Asted and Rikauteri sets. The first 2 have higher bonuses, the other 3 lower.

Info taken from that magazine scan that we've seen a while ago: http://psupedia.info/Set_bonuses
I know the Gigush and Nafli-zashi info listed there are correct; I assume the others are too but I haven't been lucky enough to find those yet so I've not been able to verify.

Here are a couple of updates:

-Findings and beastiary information has been entered for all of the missions that will be released on Tuesday.
-Almost all AotI items are now marked as being available.
-Almost all new AotI weapons should now have grinding information.
-The base success rate field has been removed from Recipe Boards and recipes. That data is currently out-of-date.
