So...Does anyone actually know what is so special about the Character ID cards? I really want the whole collection but have no idea what they do and whether they would be worth my time.

I think they're force weapons like the Mahu,Talis,etc.

Yeah, they aren't more than just a weapon. They do not change your section ID or anything of the like.
