The awesome thing about this is it's one of those "Oh my friend who used to like work for the company said they were gonna split" stories that came true.

So basically, they're becoming basically a second party to Microsoft, rather than a first party. From what I've read in interviews, they only reason why they made this move is because they wanted to get away from Microsoft's hiring and budgeting policies. They still plan to develop for the 360, and Microsoft still maintains a decent chunk of the company. We might see some Wii games from Bungie - but honestly, I've never really seen Bungie as anything other than a one trick pony. Halo was great, but I prefer DOOM much more than Marathon (especially when enhanced with the Legacy patch) and Oni was pretty much a pile of shit. With the Halo trilogy being finished, I hadn't expected much out of Bungie further on. Apparently, neither did Microsoft, since they allowed them to split - retained the rights to Halo - and is keeping them just close enough to benefit from their next game if it's a hit, or enough distance to save face if it's a flop.

I want to see what Bungie's next project will be. They have always been a decent developer. Marathon was OK, but any game on a Mac kind of immediately shoots itself in the foot. Myth was great even though I was terrible at it, and I actually enjoyed Oni for the 4 hours that it lasted. It's one of the only games I've played that successfully mixed ranged and close combat fighting without making one significantly better than the other. I'm not a huge Halo fan, but there is no denying that the games are good. There are few better reasons to invite a bunch of friends over to your house (involving video games anyway). I just hope that none of the really talented designers jump ship.

Better get to work on that Giant Slingshot, Bungie. (http://www.bungie.net/images/News/WeeklyUpdate/bungiecomplete.jpg)

Lol @ comic. This split is quite weird. I wonder if Bungie will make their own system one day O.O
