RF Online - Now Officially Free to Play

I'm sure there are a handful of you still around that tried the beta before it came stateside(because this is where I first got it and tried it so long ago), just wanted to let everyone know that it's appearently going up for free. They've just released a new chapter of sorts for it and all that.

I got my "Trial" from Fileplanet, and after reading this thread (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215561&page=1&pp=10) on the official forums, I'm appearently set to play it forever, for free.

So, for anyone looking for a free PvE game which turns into PvP heavy fighting, three different races(Accretia for the win!) and an open class system, give it a try. Not like there's much to lose.

I'm fumbling around in-game, having forgot how to play it after so long. I figure it'll be an ok distraction for a while.

I tried to DL the game from the site bbut it gave me a FilePlanet link (which involves payment). Is this just free to play but you still have to purchase a serial key?

I still have an old subscription to Fileplanet, thus I was given a serial key from them. It's my understanding that in seven days, everyone else will be able to download the client and be given a "trial" key(direct off the games site, and most likely anywhere else, such as Fileplanet non-subscribers), but the trial keys will all turn your 'triall account' into a full fledged account. (Thats what it says here anyway. (http://www.tryrfonline.com/request-key.php))

So, basically, on the 17th you'll be able to get a trial key. If you want, I suggest downloading the client ahead of time and read up on the game to see if you're interested.

This isn't some uber awesome game by any means, but it'll be free and I figure someone on here would be interested in it.

I'm *trying* to find a non-fileplanet link (since you need to pay for it). I located a DL for "RFOnline_PublicTest" but I'm not sure if it's right.

Hey Abdur, I still remember getting you an account on the JP beta version 2 years ago hehe http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif The game was a snorefest then but there's been quite a bit of added content since then.

I'll admit I'm an RF addict. Been playing for a while and I'm one of the biggest players in the game. I will admit RF is not for everyone as there is plenty of grinding to be done, but the PvP is some of the best I've ever had, and the graphics seem better to me than many other MMO out there. We actually have a lot of ex-PSO/PSU players in RF since the themes of the two games are similar.

I joined the fresh new server actually, Lumen I beleive it's called. And yeah you did help me get setup with the old JP beta, I could'nt remember who exactly did that.

In any case, the game will be free, and there are plenty of grindfests that people pay to play as it is, so a free grindfest should'nt be so bad. I'm gonna give your video a look at while I go about my morning routine.

I've played a 40x Lineage 2 server. To hell with its official servers, too. Hell, I've been on a 500x server, and dear god the grind after 70 sucked THEN, too.

You're capped at lvl 50 or 55 in this game. I made lvl 19 just from solo'ing last night. I'm about to hit 21 after alittle bit of playing today.(15% more exp to go, not bad)

I figure anytime I want to call it quits and go do something else, it's no big deal since I'm not shelling cash out every month. So if I let my dood set for weeks on end, no biggie anyway.

Level cap is 55 now and soon to be 60 with the next patch (korean version is already at lv60 cap)

Haha, nah I hadn't seen that video yet. I did see a screenshot of all the planets in the galaxy, with what looked like flight paths and all that. Made me go "hmmm, never saw that before".

I'm getting my bearings with just learning the overall game, at what lvl to do what things, etc. Would prolly be good if I could find a friendly guild, though I don't like the thought of joining one.

Got my Accretian Warrior to lvl 23, mostly using one-handed swords/shields and intend to go Gladius->Mercenary.

However, I've been lvling Ranger and Launcher skills too. Nothing like loading up on Nuke-ammo for a launcher, getting four or five mobs to come after you and then just nuke all of them repeatedly. Unless of course you're using a flamethrower and doing the same thing, which is also fun. =D

If anyone else is on the Lumen server and goes Accretian, drop me a pm here with your ingame character name, I'll add you to my buddy-list.
