Is it just me or have the server lag spikes gone up?

It seems highly prevalent as of late.

It's been quite a bit worse, in the past. Back in 2004, the site went down entirely for a month or two, and just about this time of year, too. That's the reason why we're no longer on PlanetDreamcast.

That would suck to be without PSOW for that long

Do you guys have any plans to combat the lag issues? The spikes seem to be on a 7 minute cycle. Even if you dont have any plans atleast i know you guys know so im sure that im not going crazy >_O

I remember that, there were rumors shooting around the IRC afterwards that PSOW was hacked. I didn't see if this site still existed until several months after the incident. I had assumed it was dead, considering PSO was getting old, and, well, the site seemed to have been obliterated. Yet, one day I had the curiousity to check and low and behold PSOW had reformed.

Needs moar bandwidth/backend optimization.

I wonder what sort of database they're running.

Part of the reason we're no longer on PlanetDreamcast is because that server could no longer meet the site's computational requirements. The site is relatively fast compared to some of the old servers it used to inhabit.

We're working on the lag problem. Things take a while when you have to go through several layers of bureaucracy.

Tell Gamespy to move BACK to The Planet.

You guys are still hosted on Gamespy's network, right?

Happy to hear that the lag problem is being fixed http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Several layers of bureaucracy http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif I thought PSO-World is just a PSU fansite....

Somebody has to host it and thus have the attention turned to them for such things as the entire site being down for even months, the more than usual obnoxious ads and the like.

No free lunch. Smaller fansites are more subject to security problems, albeit even with the lower traffic.

And also its in the name there, PSO-World, around for PSO originally. PSU used to be confined to a single news topic sticky in Off Topic.
