Stat Material usage?

So I was looking through the mag guides for EP 1-2+4, and I saw the max stat guides, with lists of all the Materials needed. The wording makes it seem like that you can only use so many of them but it's kind of ambiguous - is this true? I don't want to end up ruining my character because I used too many early on or something.

Every character has a limit to materials they can use. Depending on the type of character, the usage limits will be different
Power, Mind, Evade, Luck, Defense materials are all under on group so you have to plan carefully for those
HP is in it's own category so eat them whenever you can
TP is also in it's own category so eat those as well when you can.
