noob help please!

I'm having problems chatting, can someone give me the rundown on how to chat/message while i play? just bought the game, soloed to lv.6 got owned by the biggest grass assasin ive ever seen in my life. i have a human hunter, can i use magic, if so how? I wanna continue to solo till i reach a more comfortable level, but i also would love to join a party i am bishop backwood or bishop472003, can someone leave there name, im trying to find some friends, ive reached lv. 100 on regular psu, so im pretty familar with the gameplay. i just need online help.

being a high level offline won't mean anything here, it's so much different.

#1, hunters can't use magic... I know, I know, they can in the offline game, but that's candy land with lots of money and exp and everything is great. Online, it's a little different.
#2, you didn't say what console you are on, but for lobby chat you'll need either a USB keyboard or use the onscreen keyboard regardless of which you're on. If you have a 360, you just use your mic in a party. It's pretty simple, any moron can do it... and believe me, they all do!
#3, you message using simple mail, it's in the start menu under community.

You don't have too. Everything gets saved onto the server when you do/get anything.

Yup yup, I have a keyboard but I don't use it because it sucks- so I just have special shortcuts for whatever I may need them for... Also I use them in parties occasionally when the other team members are... people I wouldn't want to reveal I'm a chick IRL to...
