Something funny... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Well, if I am not mistaken, the average human being's IQ is much much higher than the monkey brain. However, it is discovered that chimpanzees have better memory than human beings. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

What do you guys of the PSUniverse think???

I think its funny.. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Humans have most things handed to them or are assisted by computers/medicine.
Monkeys have to work for everything they get.
Makes sense to me.

Chimps are great apes. Monkeys are a different type of animal.

I already read that article, it's not that they have better memory, but better ability to look at things quickly and have a quick 'short term' memory. The tests they ran were with younger chimps, as the older chimps did'nt fair so well.

It's really a dumb comparison in my opinion, as chimps need certain skills and abilities than we do to survive. SURVIVE. We, as a species overall, don't really need the twitch-based abilities that other animals do to merely SURVIVE. When it comes to memory, they have to notice subtle differences and key into them otherwise they don't learn. If the monkey next to you makes a facial gesture and you did'nt 'get it', and the monkey bludgeons another monkey, the next time it happens you might be the one getting bludgeoned. Thus, they need to notice and key into subtle things.

The little memory test they did just proves that they key into things quicker, as can be expected. Higher reactionary time, both mental and physical.

Better memory though? Hardly. Think of everything humans remember, right down to every trivial stupid fucking factoid that has no bearing on life itself, and then think of what chimps have to remember. Very big difference.

Much akin to the "Are you as smart as a 5 year old" or whatever. It's not that they are intelligent, it's that they have learnt things that we did'nt when we were the same age, aswell we've long since forgotten the trivial little things that only someone of that age would care to remember.

All they did was take a particular subject and make a spin with it, to compare 'average' people to something else.

Actually, to be on the 5th grader show, you really have to be pretty slow on the uptake. Anyone logical enough to realize that it's brainless trivia probably wouldn't go on it.

Are you crazy? It would be the easiest million I've ever earned. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_clown.gif

I'm not going to bother getting all crazy over the unreliability of science reporting and blah blah blah, because the article I read says it all:

In the current study, the researchers tested three pairs of mother and infant chimpanzees

Three pairs of chimps? Impressive.
