The main problem with Newman AF is that human AF gets a ridiculous 5% bonus which pretty much kills every reason for playing Newman. Your advantages as Newman are higher EVP than everyone else, so you block slightly more and your high TP means you deal more damage with Shadoogs. Your disadvantage is blocking attacks that don’t cause flinching lower your damage/time which is already low since you’re playing the lowest ATP class and Shadoog damage can’t compete with melee as any race/class combination using both simultaneously. Also the HP+DFP+EVP combination generally isn’t as effective as the HP+DFP+EVP combination as the other races because all of those mods are ridiculously high on this class.

So, yeah, not the best choice, but not the worst choice either. It just adds the Newman flavor to a racially-neutral class. Just focus on using Shadoogs in combination with 1 hand melee and you’ll be fine.

What Pillan said. Those stupid racial bonuses really ought to go, IMO.

Still, I've got a Newman AF myself, and he gets along fine. While Pillan's right about more blocking not always being good, *any* AF's going to have extremely high evade, so you may as well milk it. Get used to doing JCs out of evades and you'll do fine.

Yeah, Newman Acrofighter makes the most out of the EVP, so go ahead and pick it.
