What exactly do the section ID cards do?

Has anyone figured out what they do yet?

Do they temporarily change your ID?

I have no idea, but I also want to know what they actually do. That would be pretty cool if they did temporarily change your section ID though.

I have a whole bunch on the import version, and after vigorous testing I've concluded that they do nothing special.

I guess it's like a status symbol...

They may be a use for them in the future however..
