I got my new rig today from Dell. I LIKEE!

Specs are as follows-
Dell XPS 420 (no jokes, please)
3 gig core 2 duo E6850 1333 FSB 4 meg L2 cache
4 gigs dual channel ram @ 800 MGHZ
Nvidia 8800GT 512
Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme Music
Windows Vista home edition

I rated my system before. Rated me as a 5.7. Not bad, from what I heard from my firend. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I can actually run the highest resolution on PSU nicely. And get a framerate in oblivion now. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Do you understand the power behind the GeForce 8800 and your PC as a whole? You could run two copies of PSYOU on your computer at once without any framerate issues. Hell, you could run three with minor issues. My pal has practically the same setup (it's a Dell from the XPS series as well.) We were pushing his computer and found out we could run two copies of City of Heroes (on max settings) and a copy of PSYOU all at the same time with only minor frameskip issues.

How much did it cost? I'm shopping for a new PC myself. Depending on prices I might just order one to spec form dell.

No hardware issues? Lol what the hell is happening with my setup.
Intel Quad Core extreme
4gb DDR2 774(I think)
8800GT

Sometimes even opening Mozilla while playing PSU on 1024 window with 0 frameskip causes hardware lag.

Although even when i close mozilla it still lags for a short period of time... WTH?

I personally don't believe anyone really needs 4GB's of ram. 2 is enough seeing as the most intensive game out at the moment, Crysis, only asks for 1.5 in it's recommended requirements.

Yeah thats true, but Vista uses 1, system clocks out at 3.5..Whats the point - got a good deal on them anyway.

Totti, you may be low on power or might need a better cooling system in your PC.

Okie doke, well my room does tend to get a bit hot. Extra specs:
Case is a dual fan Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570, fan is a Coolermaster 650Watter.

What more else can i do? My chip usage meter (when the hardware lags and PSO looks like its running at 10fps) is never high and RAM is never full its just like it dies...Then, after no set amount of time comes back.

I've since switched to 1280 full screen mode so we'll see http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

You need to check your CPU temp. It's probably overheating. Use something like Speedfan to check it.

If you're using the stock heatsink that came with your quad core CPU, then that could be the reason. There is a design flaw that leaves a little gap between the heatsink and CPU. To make sure the gap is closed you need to take out the motherboard, support it from the back while seating the heatsink in place with all your strength. Then turn the little bolts in the opposite direction that the arrows are pointing and it should be good to go. Monitor the temp before re-assembling everything.

Totti, if you have any other questions, bring this issue to Tech Support or PM Violetskye. Dude's good with this stuff.

Meh, Speedfan tends to inaccurate by roughly 10 C, google and download CoreTemp 0.96 if you need to check temps. Anything 60 C and up is bad news.

Something tells me the lag could be due to drivers or software issues and not necessarily hardware, just based off of your system's specs.

Just my 2 cents http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif.
