View Full Version : PSOX going down at last?

Okay, so today I tried to go online and my Xblock was unable to connect to the servers. After some tries and making sure the thing can go online (by testing other Live-enabled games), I decided to google to see if there's anything of notice regarding the servers, since they are the last PSO servers that remain online. And I found this:

http://kotaku.com/338264/another-phantasy-star-online-bites-the-dust

However, I couldn't find any confirmation or anything. I called XBL but they told me to call SEGA; I called SEGA and all I got was a busy signal.

So, is the game still online? And if so, any idea when it won't be anymore?

ugh, what the hell... so the PSOX servers actually went down for our side as well? I'll have to check when I get home.

US servers are still up. I had no problem logging on.

Thanks, just the confirmation I was looking for.

Hmm... I don't have PSOX, but I wouldn't mind it. Glad it is still up our side. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

How sad. It sucks to see the final two versions going offline for good.

Tonight is the night, unless the Jan 31st that the site referred to was yesterday(JP time Jan 31st). So is PSOX still up?

I'll be surprised of PSOX US has a free month before it shuts down.

Good riddance. PSO on XBox, is failure sauce.

Thirded, if that's a word.

I'd fourth it if it wasn't for the fact that you have to have a gamertag just to be able to play offline. I've never played PSO online on the 'Cube, and I would've also bought PSO for Xbox too as I recently (well before Christmas<<<(I hate that) ) bought a used Xbox and I wanted to compare how it looks to the 'Cube. Sad I know, but meh!

P.S Out of interest, how many characters could be saved onto the Xbox, and can more than one player create a character at the same time as I saw a screenshot with four screens in the customise character menu?

12 characters.

Well.. actually when you boot it up past the title screen it asks you to select a gamertag with four slots there. 12 is what you can hold for each gamertag slot.

In other words you can hold up to 48 characters on one drive. Problem? Playing with characters on the other slots NEEDS memory units.

That and the whole characters locked to gamertag are probably the only downsides to it which you can workaround with the right tools of course.

When will you kids learn. I'd go into explanation but it'd most likely get me banned.

There's loads of space for characters, virtually no chance of corruption and no FSOD by random morons. I don't see where the problem is.

The fact that you can easily make any item you want on it?

Jaspaller
Feb 1, 2008, 11:59 PM
LOL. That's possible with EVERY version of PSO.
DC? Get that xploder or whatever.
GCN? Use an AR.
PSOBB? Use cheatengine to make items.

They're all easy to do if you know how to.

Dur. With BB they are just clone items and do not stay. DC there is many ways to do so. GC yarp. Though with XBox you can be in an online game, and make an item and even make that item as "untekked". So keep thinking "it is full of win" but really it is concentrated failure juice.

Let's stop before this becomes a flaming match. Each version has its ups and downs. The most important thing is the endless hours of enjoyment this game gives us. Everybody has their version that they like, no need to attack anouther just because you may not like it. Can't we all just get along?

I saw the topic of this thread and it kind of scared me. Glad that it is not down yet. I need to get rid of my Digital Video Recorder. I swear, I am a slave to that thing. If I didn't have that I would be playing a ton of PSO-X. I record Enterprise and The Office. What can I say, I missed the original airing of Enterprise so I watch it off of HDNet and I love The Office. After the Super Bowl I promise to play more PSO-X.

Uh yeah, good for that. I've seen things like untekked S-ranks and other things. They're pretty much useless/harmless except for items like that rare telepipe snowfox had. You can't really hack online like you can on the other versions unless you really want to get banned from XBL.

Odd that Microsoft would have told you to call Sega. They own and opperate the server since it is a part of Xbox Live, sega has no access to it unfortunately, and microsoft does not care in the least bit. Anyways, is the server gone now? I have had multiplke people IM me asking for "h4x" which wouldn't make sense if the server was down.

Snowfox, just a word of warning for you. It is not a good ideal to bump threads over a moth old.
