Basically, this Saturn game (legendary among fans) was the precursor to PSO, the precursor to PSU. BR featured random map stages which were later used in the online Phantasy Star games and a similar control scheme (sans jumping). They do play similar and were made by relatively the same people. I would say it's worth buying a Saturn for just FOR Burning Rangers. It's that good of a game to this day, nostalgia notwithstanding.

Freaking awesome.

Edit: This song is one of the disks coming out in PSU in a future update: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA9MiwhP5Yo

I knew of the game but never saw a gameplay video. Looks a lot more fun than PSO or PSU, but more enemies to shoot at would be nice. All I saw was shooting at flames which somehow extinguishes it.

Robots attack you and there's boss battles, I saw a fish boss in a video, it looked pretty awesome.

I'd really like to find a copy of this game.

Like a super firefighter game.....meh.
Back then it might have been fun, but Zelda seems like took the place of it: Puzzles & lots of action.

I'm familar with the game by reputation only. I've seen screen shots but I have never played it before. They were talking about it on X-League T.V. the other day ( X-League is a British T.V. channel ), it wasn't untill they mentioned that the Burning rangers theme song is featured in PSU ( or was it PSO, I forget things like this ) that I realised that there was a link to the Phantasy Star universe. Apparently the game is super rare in Europe.

Saw videos of it before. Looks like it could've been fun for me if I actually got a saturn and the chance to play it. Would be cool if we saw it pop up in the XBLA.

Ditto. It's not THAT great to be perfectly honest. It's way short for instance, it seems like it's over begins. I would NOT say you should buy a Saturn just for this game.

Panzer Dragoon Saga isn't just good - it's amazing.

I remember being so proud when I walked out of that EBX in the Mall of America, having purchased the game. Got home, played it, and was hooked - I still play through it from time to time, simply because it's one of the most unique RPGs out there.

I've been meaning to get my hands on a copy of Burning Rangers, one of these days... It really does look like a lot of fun, and it's one of those games for the Saturn that I feel bad about missing out on (kinda like Shining Force 3).

Pure utter garbage, crap, pile of steaming, wanna barf. I've had the game for so long and I put five hours into it. Hated it from the very beginning. The first 30 minutes is talk about some political thing blah blah blah. I have unending pent up rage about SFIII, and I am a big Shining Force fan. I even have a copy of SFCD... I'm sure I probably wouldn't hate it so much if I beat it, but it's just a weird game.

True, but there are 6816813549684 other reasons to own a Saturn. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Saturn emulators are servicable at best. Besides, something is always lost in the translation. I would much rather play a game on the original system over an emulator...unless its something with a terrible controller, like a Jaguar. Saturn controllers, however, have the best D-pads ever created.

The theme song made for good fun back when you played the Burning Forest stages on PSO.

hahaha remember Saturn Mag? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I have the japanese version of burning rangers took me a while to figure out where to go because you're given somewhat directions to save all the survivors plus there are hidden characters that you can get like whatever their names are from Nights.

I still like Guardian Heroes for the Saturn.

Saturn Shiro? (White Saturn). I don't have one.

I'd want that Black Blood song (or whatever it is called) from Phantasy Star 4, when you run into Zio for the first time or maybe the Phantasy Star 1 Palace song.
