Alright, so I got PSU(original) a few days ago at my work and have been playing it for awhile offline, i tried today to get online and it failed, error 10, or some shit. The test works, but when i try to connect it sits there for 2 minutes and then gives me error 10. I haven't found any help for dealing with that so i ask this stuff:

When i payed the $10 i noticed it was for the expansion, so I have to ask...does online for the regular version of PSU even exist? Or am i trying to log on to something that isnt even there?

I liked the offline, so I'm going to get the expansion, so:

If regular PSU servers do exist, will I need the system file from regular PSU to play on the expansion(online)?

Any help with the connection issue or 2 questions would be appreciated.

The subscription is the same for both versions. But once you login to a character with the expansion, you will not be able to use that character with PSU v1 anymore.

I don't know what the error is, but since you say you are at work, your company might be blocking the ports. Check the official forums, tech support.
