Story mission 2 for AOI

There's a part where I hit a switch, but it won't stay green to move the barrier. There's a warp in the other room that puts me back in the other room with the switchs. There's only 2 switchs. Please help.

Step on the green switch, step off and wait for 2 seconds, that should solve the puzzle.

So I need to step on the green switch first? Then does the red switch turn green? Why would they do that?
