Cause I dunno what IGN uses for some of its quicktime
videos

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/900/900199/vids_1.html
sometimes I can play their quicktime videos, and
other times I just get a white screen and can only
hear the sound, but quicktime says its up to date
and I can't download any more updates or codecs or
whatever, not even sure what codec is needed to view
them.

oh ya my quicktime version is 6.5.2
bad news is the next QT version is 7.5.1 but they
only have downloads for XP and Vista. >.>

Did you tried Firefox + MPlayer + MPlayer connectivity plugin
As far as i know MPlayer can play Quicktime Movies.

Don't know if MPlayer is available for Windows.
If not, upgrade to Linux.
(Ubuntu is neat)

oh okay thanx. I just found gametrailers is sometimes convenient
in offering multiple formats like WMV. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif unlike lazy IGN and
their "oh lets release only a quicktime video that not all QT players
can play." http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I would say every proprietary format is source of problems.

That's the reason why i prefer open standards.
(And not let us call it open so we look better.(aka OOXML))

I'm sure you're aware that all of IGN's videos come in both Quicktime and Windows Media versions, right?
