Simply amazing. Developing stuff like this will only push us further into technology.

That was the fastest car in the world. That record has since been broken.

EDIT: OOOOOOPS

Soon, there will be sneakers that will let our hedgehogs run faster than this! But seriously, I think it would be safer if they made like, a train go as fast as this. That way, no drunk drivers hitting a person and tearing them in half.

because train accidents don't occur enough.

Shame Bugatti poured so much money into the Veyron's technology that they actually have a huge loss on each Veyron sold.

It was built as an experiment into what Bugatti could achieve if they placed enough money into the project. If I remember correctly, a Veyron sells for £800,000+, but costs well over £1,000,000 to produce.

While 252mph is incredible, as said, the Shelby SSC Aero and the Barabus TKR are faster (the Barabus is claimed to do 0-60mph 2 seconds and have a top-end speed of 270mph- though I'm not sure if this has been tested yet). The SSC Aero is capable of around 257mph (claimed to be able to produce 270mph, but just like the Jaguar XJ220, it failed to live up to the expectations, and 'only' put out 257mph.)

On another note, I'd just like to say that I think the Veyron is one hell of an ugly car. Having said that, I've never really liked Bugatti styling.

Heh, and I remember when the McLaren F1 was thought to be unstoppable. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

It's too bad the Volkswagon Veyron, sorry, Bugatti Veyron is hideous. Then again, I've never been one to care for those rounded designs. That's probably why I prefer the Ferrari 288 GTO and Ferrari Testarossa over the Ferrari Enzo even though the Enzo is indeed superior to either of those older models.

And, yeah, it's no longer king production car when it comes to overall top speed. The SSC Aero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSC_Aero) beats it out there. And to add insult to injury the SSC Aero costs less than half, for the top end model. It also looks more attractive to me as well. Still, one of the best looking cars in that top speed arena is still the McLaren F1. I'm not quite sure why, but I just really loved the styling of that car.

I'm thinking that if you're in a head-on collision at 253mph, then the presence of airbags becomes moot. Who's with me, here?

They would have to Deploy a good 30 seconds befroe the crash to actually save you...

Ejector seat? I'm amazed a chunky thing like that can go so fast. 12 minutes of fuel at top speed. Awesome!

To be fair, it'd be one hell of a 12 minutes http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
