What is with the elitism around S ranks?

I happened to have had a C and a B rank on me (twin sabers with high percents and grinds) during Bruce's Dungeon earlier and I hear things like "I only use S ranks. Nothing lower." S ranks aren't even always better to begin with. I say, never leave out a good pair of lower rank weapons. They're cheaper as well.

I know why I use mainly s-ranks: style. In this game there are those that go for style over substance, grinded s-ranks will usually be superior, ( usually but not always, some kubara can grind better in the end) but really I only use s-ranks for the show, thats just how I play, everyone has their reasons for what they do. Not trying to be offensive but I seem to find questions as to why people are elitist pointless. People are what they are, there isn't always a reason.

I dunno, it's not hard to get 30% or better S-ranks now. Low-rank high elemental weps aren't the secret superpower they used to be... on the other hand I think it's pretty awesome if someone's ripping it up with a powerful Gigush or those automatic-50-percent Twin Bulbs.

PSU is hardly the type of game where you actually need a high ATP, high percent weapon. Sure it might make it slightly faster, but in this game... you could beat every mission with a 1* neutral weapon. So people pretty much go with what they think looks good, which tends to be the S ranks.

i ground my twin flourescent bulbs (the auto 50% ones) to 10 and they do more dmg than my twin headed ragnus, except against ice monsters, so...yeah I'll use C ranks just as much as S depending on the situation. (and if i feel like seeing flaming trees for the 1,337th time)
Oh and the bulbs are pretty.

Style > "lolbignumbarz". Which is why I roll with THIS (http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/1/2223/kouhakanoh/). Drums and flowers? YES PLEASE. Nothing better than a Hawaiian gun!

Same issue with Phantomline/ Phantom combo vs. S-Rank armor and S-rank rifles. Additional armor slot for resist item with S-Rank Armor, or keep the damage significantly higher with the A-Rank armor. The Hyper Vipers do AMAZING damage. I'm so glad it's s rank and does a lot of damage, because otherwise I wouldn't possibly want it because S ranks are only for "lolbignumbarz!"

Elitism has nothing to do with hygiene. It's just that people with bad social skills tend to isolate themselves, neglect their hygiene and be elitist.

The worst elitists are the "normal" ones, with the good social skills. Most creepy cheeto-dust shut-ins can eventually be ignored, as they'll ostracize everyone around them and end up being a world unto themselves.

The ones with social skills, though. They transform communities, for the worst. They tend to always think they're right AND be utterly obnoxious on nearly every front. And people flock to their dark banner, to be associated with them, to be on the "right" side.

I could honestly give a damn about Sranks. I think I only have like, 7 total, most of which I can't use. I tend to go for looks more than effectiveness and to me - most Sranks look increadably stupid anyhow. The few I like, I'll keep, but even that's rare since I tend to give any Sranks in a mission that drop to other players unless I know they already have one. Some of the best looking weapons are lower rank. I still use my Neiclaw, Koltova Gun, and Twin Flourecent Bulbs.

im only 38 so i know nothing but i buy what has best atp in my price range and i have s rank crimson a rank whip 7 star i think a rank dagger a rank range mag and b rank tech mag and the only one im looking to chage is my b rank to a i can hardly tell diference between a rank and s rank exept price, looks and a small amount of atp or tech and a rank can be grinded much cheaper too
