Like Dante from DMC. I was gonna do Vash the Stampeed thes year, but my hair didn't grow out fast enough. I've never dyed my hair before, so I'm completly clueless.

Uh, get a wig?

That's lame, though. Plus I wouldn't be able to find one.

Seems a lot more simpler than destroying your hair for a one-shot cosplay thing.

I've seen alot of white wigs on ebay.... I bought a Silver Wig when I cosplayed as Allen Walker from D.Grayman. Generally, wigs are easier to style and can look better than regular hair (if you get a good wig, but those can be a tad expensive).

Anywho, if you really want to dye your hair, just keep bleaching it. Thats really all you can do to get *near* white. If you have dark hair, I would not suggest this (I have naturally dark hair myself, and I have to bleach twice just to get to warm blonde). Dark hair tends to have a LOT of red tones, which is hard to bleach (its hard getting out of the orange-blonde area).

I would only suggest bleaching if you already have light hair (Golden Blonde range), it'll be less painful that way.

Buuut I'm not a hair specialist, all I know is what I've been told and what I've done. XD;

Be careful if you decide to bleach, I think if you overdo it it can fall out or some such.

I used to dye my own hair, and I'll say this...

If you're going to try to dye your hair white, either go to a professional hairdresser and have a colorist do it, or buy a white wig. Doing it yourself you will most likely just burn your hair off with bleach until it falls out (especially if you have dark brown/black hair).

Another option would be white spray on hair color in a can (these I usually see being sold around Halloween time, so you might find them online somewhere or at a costume store) that washes out, but this usually just ends up looking crappy. And if you have really thick, dark hair, this dye may not cover it very well.

Personally, if I needed silver hair for a cosplay event, I'd just buy a nice wig, maybe off of Ebay or at a local wig shop (yes, we have wig shops where I live, in Vegas. Believe it or not, there are alot of bald strippers, hookers, escorts, and showgirls in this town). I really don't want to deal with my hair being fried off with bleach just to make it white for an event.

If you have dark brown to black hair, or any tinges of red it will be nearly impossible to dye it light enough without damaging your hair. If you're light brown to blonde, I'd go to a professional and go platinum blonde.

There are a number of cosplay shops that sell wigs specifically designed for individual cosplay characters. They can be expensive, but fairly well done depending on the character, and the 'rediculous' factor regarding that character's hair. aka: overtly large spikey hair tends to be made of a foam like polymer and looks fake, while a more natural fairly 'normal' style tends to look decent on a wig.

Anyways, good luck, and be sure to post some pics when you're done ;D

I can back up what they're all saying about dark hair- I have really dark hair and when I was 20 I tried to bleach (with some hydrogen peroxide mixture my blond friend swore by) 2 really thin strips in it like Rinoa... it didn't work very well... actually it destroyed the hair I dyed and it never grew in dark again. I swear to god, luckily it was only like- 20 hairs, cause it grows in snow white now. Since I dye my hair red anyway I don't really care, but it means I can't let it go natural again til it's all white ^_^

Also, a few years later, I used some blonding kit specifically for dark haired people. I had to use 2, and never got my hair lighter than pumpkin orange. It actually looked kind of cool, but that was the end of my blond experiments!

But you must have blond hair if you planned to do Vash and hadn't thought about changing your color? I'd say you should really think about how long you want white hair... I'd go wig or paint over bleaching though.

If you still wanna bleach, here's some how tos:
