Question for forums banners

Ok, I'm certain this is going to be a dumb question... >.>


But for you folks that have those pretty picture banners for signatures, how do you do that? I want to make one.

Before this gets kicked to the right forum, I'll tell you that I used Photoshop for mine.

You just need a little creativity, time to learn Photoshop, and some inspiration.

that's if you have photoshop.

the rest of us find some anime wallpaper, crop it, write our character's name on it, and then compress it.

in terms of putting them on the forum. get a hosting site like photobucket.com to upload the images. then goto edit account on psow in the place for your sig you put [ img] urlofyourpicture [/img].

You technically don't need Photoshop: you could always use GIMP instead (which is free). It's about the same thing, you just have to learn to do a few more things by hand.

I just made my first one. Saw that picture I took and thought "Oh well, I always wanted a sig..".
Meh, I just minimized it with paint, took me like 3 mins. I think it`s okay. >_>

edit: oh yeah, that 35k limit is limiting a lot of quality from most sigs. My sigs are usually 45k+ for the original; i have to use paint program to limit down the Kilobytes to 35k less. The original looks the most beautiful except that the file size is too big for this forum. Good luck on your journey in making your own sig!

35000 bytes too. Yours is almost twice that (well maybe 1.5 times the size).

As to my sig, I just took a couple of pictures and threw them together in GIMP-shop to get this horrible monstrosity you now see.

Are you talking about how to get the pictures, or how to put them there? If the former, you can either use photoshop or paint (my favorite, due to my lack of experience) to get what you need. If the latter, simply upload it to a photo uploading website like photobucket.

your sig is way over the limit to be honest. Right click and check properties, and you can see how big the size of your sig. Only 35k limit. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

edit: it is not illegal, just the forum's rule. If you violate unintentionally, the mod will tell you what you do wrong that is all.

now it is way below 35k. LOL. It's a good start for now. I bet you can improved the quality later on with the sig being around 34k.

I'd advise against Bitmap, that's a completely uncompressed image format so your filesize is going to be ginormous.
