PSO-DC: Dreamcast broke = no PSO :(

so i was about to record at 60 hz my gameplay, in ruins 1 room the dreamcast makes a reset, these resets strangely i couldn't fix them and beleive me, my console has had this problem 2 or 3 times since it's in my posesion so i know what i was doing but the console refused to maintain stable.
i open the console, i push the pins to make sure they receive power, however when i make a test with the dreamcast on, it has no signal and the main led was off, checked all the conections the led was okay, so why was it off? i really don't know, but when i slaped the dreamcast on the side, the led turned on, but i kept getting no signal, if fact the dreamcast was not even reading the disk, or even trying and the image on my computer was pure black.
i decided to check the side with the power tranformator/convertor, i tried to check it it was okay since the led light was shaking alot especially when i touched the left side, the problem was there but i didn't know the exact location of it.
by mistake i used a metal piece to check some stuff, the dreamcast was on and it made a short circuit, after that the dreamcast died.

with this i may never use my humar ever again, even if i get a new dreamcast it won't work since the game has a protection the file will apear damaged or corrupted http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

in worst of options my char has died forever today, it will never kill a booma ever again http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

currently i will try and get a new power converter, with luck that was the only piece destroyed and since it's not under anything then it's easy to take it off and replace it by a new one......until then bye pso.

Well, you can buy a new DC. Ebay has them. *Shruggs* Not sure if it will do any good, but it is worth a shot.

Or you can try BB with Out-Kast and I.

i am banned at the private server for hacking, i am banned on sight, not to mention the ban they aplied on me affects the game and i can't enter, no matter what i do.

as i said i will try and get a new power coverter, the short-circuit was there so if the dreamcast doesn't even turn on then that piece of hardaware is broke......... *prays*

no, it's stored on a memory unit that you put in the controler, but that game save is conected to the console serial, it only works on that dreamcast (don't know why did sega inputed that security feature)

this would be alot easier if sonic team didn't make those kinds of security, tried on a emulator and my file is damaged or corrupted, it only works on the dreamcast that was created wich sucks.
a part of me died right there when i saw the entire console with no movement at all, the fan, the led's, everything stoped after some sparkles.....i was stupid indeed to aproach the meatl thing to one of the hardware pieces. it must me the power output converter, since after it there are 6 aluminium pins and i have 1 led directly solded on them, if the led doesn't turn on then no power is going trou......

well, since i need money for uni and stuff i doubt my parents would let me waste money like that, not to mention i have plenty of dreamcast games, pso is the most important.

currently i'm trying to see how does that work, i know the game has a protection, but i don't know in wich cases do they work.
about the memory, dreamcast has somewhere a space where it stores some web info, date settings and the registry entry for the SNAK (serial number/access key), since it has a batery inside then it storesdata, that litle piece can be removed easily, but i don't know if that info is stored somewhere else.

With any luck you could find the part of the Dreamcast the data is stored and put it in a new Dreamcast if repairing it doesn't seem possible.

nope, it doesn't work, the power does not reach the pins, without power, no dreamcastand no pso

the problem is not the pins, the power input/converter is pluged into those pins, after that the dreamcast receives power from them.
no power on the pins means the power inst't there *takes pic to show off later*

I have V2, a working DC, and a vmu, and im pretty sure that whats connected to the serial number has to do with getting online.
Like this: You register to go online on let's say...my DC, play online a bit, then go home to go online some more. You cant, because your game's serial is connected to MY system, but you can still play offline. It's definately worth a shot getting a new DC.

In fact...I just realised that the same thing happened to me and my character works on my new DC! GOGOGOBUYANEWONEQUICKANDSAVETEHHUMARHUGO!!!

well, i tried once on the emulator and even putting the same SNAK the game rejected my save .
however i may get a new dc from a friend of a friend, 2 controlers will also help
let's see the outcome, because no one is sure how exactly the save works on dreamcasts

I have actually never had any problem like corruption or a system breaking or anything... but my comp crashed once so I know what it's like lol

i won't have a corruption, but to protect him self (the pso safe file) pso pops a message saying it is corrupted, this usually happens when you switch dreamcasts.

for example a save at gamefaqs, if you download it, you can't play it.
